Work Text:

Two pink lines glared up at Rory from the pregnancy test in her hands. The initial shock had faded, and now she was trying to wrap her mind around the reality of her situation. She was excited, but at the same time, she had no idea how anyone was going to react. Rory wasn't sure who she was more nervous to tell, Logan or her mother. With a sigh, Rory dropped the second pregnancy test into the garbage and tucked the first one in her pocket before walking out of the bathroom. She needed to come up with a creative way to tell everyone.

"Hopefully, the nausea moves on quickly," she mumbled, shaking her head as she continued on to the living room. Rory dropped down onto the couch and rested her head back against the cushions, taking a few deep breaths with her eyes closed.

"You okay, Ace?" Logan called, glancing back at her over his shoulder from the desk on the far side of the apartment.

Rory let out a grunt and nodded her head, making Logan shake his head with a laugh. He reached out, closed the lid on his laptop, and walked over to the couch. Taking a seat beside her, Logan wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close to his chest. He pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head.

She tipped her head back to peek up at him and smiled, lifting her head enough to press a kiss to his lips. "I'm okay," she whispered as she pulled away from the kiss. "Just tired."

Logan nodded his head slowly as he brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled. "Why don't you go lay down for a little bit?"

Rory looked up at him with a half-smile as she lifted her brow. "Will you join me?"

Logan chuckled, nodding his head. "I have a couple more emails to send for work, but as soon as I'm done, I'll join you. Sound like a deal?"

Rory nodded her head slowly as she pushed herself off the couch. She leaned down and pressed a kiss to his lips. "Deal." She sighed as she made her way over to the bed.

Logan smiled as he watched her go. Something was glowing about her, but he couldn't put his finger on what it was. He waited for her to curl up on the bed before making his way back over to his desk to finish off the deal he was in the process of making that would finally get his father off his back about doing something productive with his life.

Rolling his eyes, Logan pushed open his laptop and set to work. The quicker he could get finished with this, the sooner he could crawl into bed with his beautiful fiancé. He smiled at the thought of that word. It had taken some extensive promises, but when Rory finally accepted his proposal, Logan couldn't have been happier.

Twenty minutes later, Logan pushed his chair away from his desk and turned toward the bed. Rory was fast asleep with her arms wrapped around his pillow. She looked so peaceful; he thought as he made his way to the bathroom. Stopping in front of the mirror, Logan scrubbed his hands over his face before turning the faucet on and splashing some cold water against his skin.

He reached for a towel to dry his face. As he used the towel off the rack, he noticed something peculiar sitting at the top of the trash can. He leaned down with a brow raised and picked up what he believed to be a pregnancy test. As he flipped it over, he noticed two pink lines looking right back up at him.

His eyes went wide as he dropped it into the sink. It clanked against the edges of the sink a few moments before settling at the bottom of the sink. Logan glanced over his shoulder into the bedroom to see if Rory had heard the noise and let out a sigh when he saw her still asleep.

"Why didn't she tell me?" he mumbled, looking down at the pregnancy test again. He picked the pregnancy test up and looked at it once more. Logan's heart fluttered in his chest as he thought about the sound of baby feet padding through the apartment.

Images of a little baby girl with Rory's brilliant blue eyes and his blond hair conjured up in his mind and brought a smile to his face. Logan shoved the test into his pocket and splashed some more water on his face. He took a deep breath and looked at himself in the mirror. Was he ready to be a father? Probably not, but nothing would make him happier than figuring it out with Rory by his side.

Logan walked out of the bathroom and over to the bed, crawling into bed beside Rory. He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her back against his chest, sprawling his hand out against her abdomen. He knew it was too early to feel the baby kicking, but just knowing that there was a baby in there made him smile. After a few minutes, Logan's eyes dropped shut, and he fell into a peaceful sleep with Rory in his arms.

Rory snuggled back against him, letting out a soft sigh as she turned her head to the side. She smiled when she felt him place a gentle kiss on her cheek. "How long have I been asleep?" Rory mumbled, rolling on her side to snuggle her face into his chest.

"About an hour," Logan replied, resting his chin on the top of her head. He thought about the pregnancy test in his back pocket and smiled, squeezing Rory. "Ace, is there anything you wanted to tell me?"

Rory rolled back and looked up at him with a furrowed brow. She thought about the pregnancy test in her back pocket and the second one she just tossed in the trash can; her eyes went wide. "You found the test in the bathroom, didn't you?"

Logan smiled, nodding his head with a laugh as he pulled the test out of his pocket and held it in front of her face. "Yes, I did," Logan replied, leaning in to press a kiss on her forehead. "Were you going to tell me?"

Rory sat straight up and pulled the other test out of her pocket. "Of course I was," she laughed, showing him the other test. "I just wasn't sure how to tell you. We've never talked about having kids.."

"Ace," Logan said, pressing himself up on his elbow and interrupting her train of thought. "Did you think I wouldn't be excited? Just because we've never talked about having kids doesn't mean I don't want to have kids with you."

Rory smiled and wrapped her arms around Logan's neck, leaning in to kiss him gently. She moaned as she felt his arms take purchase against the small of her back, deepening the kiss as he leaned her back against the bed. After a few moments of kissing, Logan pulled back and placed another kiss on her forehead.

"We're having a baby," Rory said, a big smile pulling at the corners of her lips. "We're going to be parents."

"Lorelai's going to be a grandmother," Logan teased, feathering kisses on her cheek.

"Mitchum's going to be a grandfather," Rory laughed, tilting her head back to allow him access to her neck.

Logan stopped kissing her and collapsed on the bed beside her, his eyes wide as he thought about what Rory had just said. "We have to tell Mitchum," he mumbled, staring up at the ceiling.

Rory covered her face with her hands and took a deep breath. "We have to tell Emily."

After a few minutes of panic, Rory and Logan both started laughing, rolling over to face each other. Logan wrapped his arms around her waist, and Rory's arms fell into place around his neck, and they held each other close.

"We're going to have a baby," Rory whispered, looking up at him with a smile on her face.

"I love you, Ace," Logan whispered, pressing a kiss to her lips as he placed his hand on Rory's stomach. "And I love you Baby Huntzberger."

"Gilmore-Huntzberger," Rory interjected, pressing a kiss to Logan's lips once more. "I love you too, Logan."

Notes:

I wanted to remind everyone that I am hosting an AO3 collection to share birthday fics with some of my writer friends and readers.

It's called Birthday Bonanza and I'd love to see more names on my writing docket for 2021 birthdays! I am considering continuing the tradition into next year.
