Summary
Uptight Gilbert Blythe needs a break - from his medical practice, from his island life where he's spent years doing what's responsible and expected but not really what he wants - so he leaves. A year abroad adventuring from place to place is just what the doctor has ordered. But when he gets to his first post and meets a woman who has spent her whole life on the move, he quickly learns that the other side of life can be a whirlwind of highs and lows and there's something appealing about the small town life he's built back home.
