Summary
It's generally frowned upon for yakuza to court someone, or even worse - marry. They're a liability, to you and the family, and especially to the oyabun. Yet, Akabayashi can't help but keep chasing a certain person's tail, maybe even yanking it a bit if he can - hoping he can continue to chase a certain someone's gaze.
Izaya, on the other hand, wants nothing more than to meddle with and form superficial bonds with those around him. Liability means nothing to him, other than maybe being a factor into his 4D social chess game. The more of an upper-hand he can have on someone, the better to watch fate play it's course right in front of him. Then, a certain fortuitous foreigner comes onto his radar and he's helpless to his own nature.
In other words, a yakuza and info broker love triangle that no one asked for except my brain. Where it dearly asked if it could finally pay rent and promptly leave. This is absolutely wish fulfillment garbage <3
