Work Text:

Atsushi groans, flops face-first onto his giant bed- the school had to order a larger one for him at the beginning of the year. Tatsuya sits down his bag, lays on his bed - minus the dramatics of Atsushi - and opens his phone to text Alex.

“Muro-chiiiiin,” Atsushi whines, rolling over to face his senpai. He’s frowning, locks of purple hair are stuck to his cheeks. He curls his long legs into his chest, groans again.

Tatsuya, glances over at the younger boy. Shuts off his phone when he sees Atsushi’s position. “What’s wrong?” he asks, standing and walking to Atsushi’s snack stash on his desk. He picks up a bag of Atsushi’s favorite chips. He plops himself onto the large boy’s bed, lightly shoving Atsuhi’s feet out of his way.

The purple haired boy squeezes his eyes shut, frown deepening. “Hurts,” he mutters.

“What hurts?” Tatsuya asks. He holds the bag of chips close to Atsushi’s face.

Atsushi makes a face. Pushes the chips away. “Not hungry.”

Something is definitely wrong. Atsushi is always hungry. “Tell me what hurts,” he says softly. Reaches over and runs a hand through Atsushi’s hair. It’s gotten really really long, but Atsushi refuses to cut it. (He also refuses to put it up during games. Tatsuya thinks it must be annoying, but Atsushi never complains about it. And he complains about everything.)

“Everything. Legs. Shoulders. Back.”

Tatsuya thinks, lays the bag of chips in his hands on the floor. Atsushi doesn’t work out, only runs at practice. He never hurts like this. Even after practices that kill the rest of the team, the giant is always fine after a few minutes. A Generation of Miracles thing, Tatsuya supposes. They were monsters, after all.

“Growth spurt,” Atsushi says after a few minutes. “I’m getting taller.”

Tatsuya resists the urge to laugh. Atsushi getting taller? That shouldn’t be humanly possible. He’s huge. But he’s also only a first year. He still has a year or two of growing in him. Unfair.

“Will a hot bath help?” he asks, hand still lightly running through purple hair. Atsushi leans into the touch. (Puppy, Tatsuya thinks. Smiles to himself.)

Atsushi shrugs. “Already showered.”

“Pain meds?”

The giant center scrunches his nose in disgust. “Tastes funny.”

Tatsuya sighs, scratches Atsushi’s scalp. “You may need to take some anyways. Want me to go ask the nurse for some?”

Atsushi shakes his head. “Muro-chin stays here.”

Laughing, Tatsuya nods. “Okay, fine. But how can I help you?”

Atsushi rolls over again. Tatsuya’s hand slips out of his hair. He says something into his pillow. Muffled.

“What was that?” Tatsuya asks, leans closer to the younger’s face.

Grumbling, Atsushi turns his head, his mop of purple hair getting in the way as he says, “Muro-chin should rub my legs. ‘Nd my shoulders.”

“Needy,” Tatsuya mutters. Pokes one of Atsushi’s muscular calves. “Straighten your legs.”

Atsushi does as he’s told, his knees popping as his long - so, very long - legs straighten over the full length of his bed. He whines again, mumbles the first curse word Tatsuya had honestly ever heard him say. He plops himself between Atsushi’s legs, where there is surprisingly enough room for Tatsuya to sit comfortably. He starts at the ankle, moving up slowly. Hears Atsushi sigh, mumble Tatsuya’s name.

“Feel better?” Tatsuya asks when he’s halfway done with one leg. His hands are just above Atsushi’s knee, resting on the surprisingly cold skin.

Atsushi nods. Lifts his face from his pillow. Thick, purple hair is stuck to his face. Tatsuya resists the urge to reach over and smooth it back. “Muro-chin is helping,” he says. Spits a lock of hair out of his mouth. Then puts his face back in his pillow.

Smiling, Tatsuya continues his work. He stops at Atsushi’s mid-thigh, not willing to push up his shorts any higher. Too awkward, even for them. Switches legs, does the same process. Atsushi sighs again. He’s happy, Tatsuya thinks. Or at least content. Content. Tatsuya smiles again.

“Still want me to rub your back?” he asks when he’s done.

“Mmm,” Atsushi says into his pillow. Probably close to falling asleep, knowing him.

Tatsuya climbs out from between the center’s legs. Tries to figure out the least awkward way to do this. He pokes between Atsushi’s shoulders. “Sit up.”

The younger grumbles, but does as he’s told. Grumbles as he moves from his stomach to sitting up. He stares at Tatsuya, waiting for instruction. That same bored look he always sports on his face. (His eyes do seem slightly droopy-er - is that a word? - than normal. He really is tired.) Tatsuya tells the younger boy to turn around. He grumbles (again). But (again) does as he is told.

Tatsuya always feels tiny next to Atsushi. But sitting here, staring at the wide expanse of his shoulders, he doesn’t feel anything like that. Just this warmth in his chest. A small smile on his lips. He’s content, too. Apparently.

He digs his hands into Atsushi’s shoulder blades. Atsushi leans his head back. His bored look transforming into curved lips. A smile.

The pair sits like this for a while. Tatsuya’s hands rubbing at Atsushi’s shoulders. Atsushi trying his best to not fall asleep. Eventually, Tatsuya moves from massaging the bigger boy’s shoulders to lightly rubbing at his sides. His hands move slowly, not really doing anything productive. Atsushi’s head falls against Tatsuya’s chests, his neck bent at an awkward angle. Tatsuya runs his hand through purple hair.

“Thank you, Muro-chin,” he whispers. “I feel better now.”

Fuck it, Tatsuya thinks as he presses a kiss to Atsushi’s forehead. Fuck it fuck it fuck it.

Atsushi stalls. Opens his previously closed eyes. Tilts his head back even farther to stare at the older boy.“Muro-chin kissed me.”

Tatsuya feels his face warm. He shakes his head, hides behind his hair. “Is that”- pauses, swallows -“is that okay?”

Atsushi makes his thinking face, chews on the inside of his cheek. “Muro-chin should do it again. On my lips. To see if I like it.” His cheeks are pink.

Laughs. Tatsuya laughs, leans down. Presses his lips against Atsushi’s lightly. He can’t help but smile as he does so.

The kiss isn’t long. Or passionate. Just Tatsuya’s lips against Atsushi’s chapped ones for a few seconds. But it’s the best kiss Tatsuya has ever had. Because it’s Atsushi. Tatsuya is kissing Atsushi. His brain stalls for a moment. Atsushi Atsushi Atsushi.

He tries to lean away, but one of Atsushi’s large hands is on his neck keeping Tatsuya’s lips on his. Tatsuya laughs into the kiss. He gets away from Atsushi’s lips for a second, contorts himself around the purple haired boy’s large body, sits in his lap.

“Did you like it, Atsushi?” Tatsuya asks, teasing in his voice.

Atsushi nods, leans forward to kiss Tatsuya again. “Muro-chin is a good kisser,” he says when they separate.

Tatsuya laughs. Kisses Atsushi’s nose.

“Are we boyfriends now?” Atsushi asks. Always straight to the point.

“Do you wanna be?”

Atsushi nods.

“Then, yes. We’re boyfriends.”

Atsushi smiles. Wraps his long arms around Tatsuya, rests his chin on his forehead. “Muro-chin is my boyfriend.”

Tatsuya buries his face in Atsushi’s neck, presses a kiss to the pale skin. And another. And another. After a few minutes, he asks: “Are you still hurting?”

A large hand finds its way into Tatsuya’s hair. “Muro-chin made me feel better.”
