Why had she done that?
That was the thought going through Makoto Niijimas mind while heading to Ren room at the place Zenkichi had them staying at.
At the hot springs she had ended beating up the boys plus cat of there group for the suspicion that they were peaking at them in the hot spring however ever since then she and the other girls had felt bad after thinking about it and apologised for there actions and not believing them at dinner.
However Ren had not come to dinner, Morgana had told them he said he wasn’t hungry but Makoto knew her boyfriend would hide his feelings and problems from there group so she went to check up on him.
She was scared to do this, scared at how he would react? Scared he would be angry at her ? Scared that he would leave her? She cast those thoughts aside for now and solely focused on making sure Ren was okay.
Knocking on the door she spoke “Ren are you in?”
No response came from the room but she heard some shuffling
Makotos feeling from before had started to surface however she stopped and instead spoke once more “Ren, please I just want to talk, will you let me in.”
No response came once more however she heard him getting up and the door clicking and opening, with this turn of events she entered, seeing the one she loved sat on the bed with a angry look on his face. It looked disturbing, it looked dark, it looked wrong. It broke her heart seeing that face because she knew she had caused it.
Finally Ren spoke “what do you want Makoto?”
“I-I came to apologise for what happened at the hot spring, it was wrong of me to accuse you all of that and I should.”
“Stop" Ren said cutting her off
All Makoto could say was “What?”
“I don’t want an apology Makoto, I want a reason, you know I wouldn’t try to peak into the hit spring like that and yet you didn’t believe a word I said, hell you didn’t even listen to our argument you just jumped to a conclusion!” Rens tone of voice was aggressive to Makoto, he was usually quite calm and soft spoken, but when he got angry it was something no one wanted to see and Makoto was seeing this.
Makoto thought back to why she had done, coming back to that question she asked herself she tried to think but she couldn’t find a reason yet, not one beside maybe they had peaked but even Makoto knew that Ren was right he wouldn’t do something like that. “I’m sorry, I-I don’t know.”
“Bullshit! You have a reason for everything Makoto there always something, so tell me why?!”
Makoto was speechless, she couldn’t think of anything beside the start of the trip how she felt when they found the metaverse came back, the police on their back, the looming danger at every turn. It all came back in a horrible feeling that she didn’t know why
Ren spoke once more “Did I do something on a trip? Did I say something I shouldn’t have? Did I do something I shouldn’t have?”
Makoto found her voice but all, that came out was a soft and quiet “n-no that not...”
In contrast Ren was yelling at this point letting all his anger out “THEN WHY! WHY DID YOU DO IT!”
After that Makoto found her reason she finally understood why she had those feelings and thoughts from before, feelings of dread, anger, sadness, feelings that she had bottled up and closed from everyone for there entire journey all that pressure building up was finally breaking through and Makoto now yelled just as hard as Ren.
“I’M SCARED, OKAY!”
From those three words Rens face of anger and annoyance had disappeared in a instant, changing to one of concern and worry. Questions had popped into his head. What did she mean? What was she scared off? How long had this lasted? But all that came out was a short and silent “what?”
Makoto in contrast shouted at the top of her voice “ ever since this stupid trip began, I’ve been scared at every single step we’ve took, scared that one of us will die in the metaverse, scared that police are going to arrest you again, scared that...scared that!” Makoto has stopped shouting due to the pain of shouting at the top of her voice and the newly formed tears that were now falling sown her face to the ground.
Ren didn’t say anything instead after seeing Makotos tears immediately embraced her in a hug holding her head tight to his chest, hoping to comfort her. Makoto did the same moving her arms around his waist holding him just as tight crying into his chest. This was the Ren Makoto knew.
“ I...I don’t... want to lose you Ren... not again.”
Ren was now angry at himself , he had made Makoto cry , he had caused her worries and anxiety to come out like this. He spoke quietly into her ear, reassuring her “you won’t Makoto i won’t leave you ever again.”
For what felt like an eternity they just stood there absorbing each other comfort, here it was just them, no police, no metaverse , just them, 2 people who love each other more than anything. After awhile Makoto quietly whispered “ sorry for hurting you Ren it was wrong of me also, sorry about your shirt
Ren laughed at that last comment putting a smile on both their faces “ I’m sorry too, I shouldn’t have yelled at you like that making you feel uncomfortable.”
“Its aright Ren, is everything okay between us now?”
“absolutely Makoto but why didn’t you tell anyone why you were scared?” Ren asked his own question.
“ I didn’t want to burden everyone one like I always do.”
It always came down to that
“Makoto listen to me, you will never be burden, not too anyone and especially to me, you are amazing Makoto but promise me you will tell me when something like that is on your mind okay.”
She blushed at that last comment, his compliments always did that to her, she then answered “ thank you Ren and yes I promise to tell you but only if you promise the same.”
Ren agreed “ of course my Queen.”
They both laughed after that than looked into each others eyes and admired them before locking each other lips in a passionate kiss, washing away every single worry they both had. After that they both spoke
“I love you Makoto “
“I love you too Ren"
Words filled with such much happiness, so much passion , so much warmth it made both of them light up and smile each other.
Ren than suggested “well should we get going the other now" while walking until makoto held on to his shirt and blushed heavily
Saying “ actually can we stay like this, just a bit longer.”
Ren couldn’t’ help but laugh as he replied “ of course my Queen”
That exchange then had them stood them in each other arms just the two lover world of their own, no one else except them, well one more person
A certain A.I was in the corner whispering to herself “so cute.”
