    Voldemort tries a body-swap spell as a backup plan (in case Potter tries to kill him + he needs an escape). It goes wrong and he ends up sharing Hermione's body. They realise she's Voldemort's daughter as only a blood relative can act as a vessel. Everyone thought she was dead apart from one person (Dumbledore). Hermione becomes a huge asset to the Death Eaters.
