Work Text:
Tommy knew today was gonna be a bad stream the moment he hit the Go Live button. His head had been hurting all day, and his stomach was beginning to rebel.
However, he hadn't streamed for a while, and he missed it. The teen figured it would be worth it to push through his discomfort and just get in with it.
So he ploughed through, some watchful fans picking up on how pale he appeared, how sluggish his actions were and how little conversation he made. Tubbo and Ranboo did most of the talking the whole time.
About 40 minutes in, Ranboo sent Tommy a quick DM. He wasn't live so he didn't have to worry about switching screens or anything, he just didn't think Tommy seemed too...with it today.
“You feeling okay? You seem off.”
It was a simple question and statement, but Tommy found himself struggling to answer as his fingers hovered over the keyboard, swallowing thickly.
“You good bossman?” Tubbo questioned, as he had Tommy’s stream up and could see the puzzled expression on his face. He instinctively closed chat as it zoomed by.
The youngest teen nodded, taking a sip of his water. “Yeah just, zoned out for a minute pal.” He reassured, typing in a group DM to Tubbo and Ranboo.
When Tubbo saw the message pop up, he immediately muted his mic as he read the message out loud, making it a lot easier to understand.
Ranboo read the message, giving his usual “mmhmm” at Tommy’s verbal answer as to avoid any unwanted comments by chat.
Tommy:
I honestly feel so bad, my stomach is really upset and my head is pounding.
The three could only continue to joke, even after Tommy literally gagged. They were able to play it off, each using a painfully fake laugh to emphasise their points.
Time only seemed to drag, and Tommy could only see himself getting paler. He couldn’t go on for much longer, he couldn’t continue this act.
“Right, I think we’re gonna call it a day here chat.” He began his goodbyes, getting the usual complaints from chat but not really caring. He felt too ill to care, he could just post something on Twitter later and be done with it.
The stream ended surprisingly quick, and Tommy leant back in his chair with a groan, still in the call.
“Well that was certainly…eventful.” Tubbo stated after the silence became awkward. He didn’t really know what to say, he’d never been very good when people were sick.
“I mean it could’ve gone way worse. You good Tommy?” Ranboo questioned, checking the time. He still had like an hour until he intended to start streaming, so he made a quick post on Twitter.
“Just feel like, really sick.” The youngest complained, dimming the brightness on his monitor to try and decrease the strain on his eyes.
As his eyes were scanning the screen, he noticed a new DM from Wilbur. He absentmindedly clicked on it, reading the message he’d been sent.
Wilbur:
You good? Was watching your stream and you look like shit
Tommy appreciated the honesty, quickly messaging back who was basically his older brother.
Tommy:
Yeah, just not feeling right, nothing major mate
He was sure to add that at the end, knowing how anxious Wilbur would get when it came to other people’s and his own health. It was better to be safe than sorry.
“I think I might try and sleep, I’ll post something on Twitter in the morning. Thanks for keeping me company guys.” The teen quickly said, feeling bile in his throat.
The goodbyes were even more rushed than the end of the stream, and Tommy didn’t even click the ‘Leave Call’ button before he was grabbing the trash can, gagging into it.
Ranboo and Tubbo weren’t deaf, and the two cringed as the sound echoed in their headsets. However, neither of them left the call.
“Take deep breaths, you’ll be alright.” Tubbo said gently, scaring Tommy slightly as he didn’t expect the voice.
He continued to heave, the older boys making light conversation to remind Tommy he was going to be fine, and that it’d pass.
Of course, it eventually did, and Tommy thanked his friends before leaving the call to empty his bin and wash his mouth out, practically collapsing into bed once he’d gotten changed.
It was most likely just a 24 hour bug, as by the time the morning rolled by, Tommy felt a hell of a lot better.
Ranboo had received a question during his stream, and he truthfully answered it, telling chat about how Tommy hadn’t been feeling well but leaving it at that.
Tommy thanked the duo again, sending them both DMs.
That’s what friends are for.
