A Blushing Mess

Summary:

Notes:

Inspired by prompt: Some potential prompts if u feel like writing -3-)/ Chu Shuzhi / Guo Changcheng - (one of) their first dates (or a date, you choose). either this line “You look really cute in that sweater.” said by Xiao Guo, or “I wanted to say “I love you” for the first time without stuttering, but that failed.” (said by Lao Chu because usually Xiao Guo stutters but not when it comes to this), or “You’re hiding under the blanket because you’re blushing?” - not sure which line you'd like more

Work Text:

It was a nice and warm sunny day as Chu Shuzhi and Guo Changcheng were walking through the park, Guo Changcheng talking animatedly while holding a cup of iced coffee while Chu Shuzhi walked quietly beside him, listening as he sipped a hot cup of tea.  If you saw them on the street together, you would be confused as fuck as to why they were together as they literally looked like polar opposites.  Guo Changcheng dressed in soft whites and grays and looked like a literal ray of sunshine while Chu Shuzhi dressed in all black and looked like the fucking grim reaper.  But they worked, so it didn’t really matter what people thought of their appearance, though they did garner a few weird looks every now and then if people decided to really look at them.  As they were walking through the park, Guo Changcheng looked over at Chu Shuzhi and frowned.

“Chu-ge…aren’t you hot?  You’re wearing all black and the sun’s really beating down today” he stated.  Chu Shuzhi looked over at him and shook his head.

“No, I’m fine” he replied.  Guo Changcheng frowned before he looked at the cup of hot tea in his hand.

“And you’re drinking hot tea?!  Chu-ge, it’s hot!” he whined.  Chu Shuzhi huffed.

“Like I said, I’m fine.  Besides, I like black” he murmured.  Guo Changcheng shook his head.

“You’re going to pass out from heat stroke if we don’t get under some shade soon” he murmured before he reached out and grabbed Chu Shuzhi’s wrist, dragging him over to a nearby tree that conveniently had a park bench under it.

“Okay, now sit” he instructed.  Chu Shuzhi narrowed his eyes at him.

“I’m not some dog, Xiao Guo” he murmured but he did what he was told and sat down on the bench, Guo Changcheng immediately sitting down next to him.

“See, isn’t this much nicer?  We can still enjoy the pretty day, but in the shade” he declared.  Chu Shuzhi looked over at him and hummed before he took a sip of his tea and Guo Changcheng drank his iced coffee.

“Does that even taste good?” Chu Shuzhi asked, glancing over at him and his iced coffee.  Guo Changcheng looked back at him before he held out his iced coffee.

“Wanna try?  It’s kind of watered down, but it still tastes pretty good” he mused.  Chu Shuzhi hummed before he leaned forward and took a sip of the brew, humming as he pulled away.

“Well?” Guo Changcheng asked.  Chu Shuzhi shrugged.

“It’s alright…not my favorite” he replied.  Guo Changcheng tsked.

“You’re just uncultured” he murmured.  Chu Shuzhi rolled his eyes before he gave Guo Changcheng a gentle shove.

“I am not” he replied.  Guo Changcheng laughed and nodded as he took another sip of his iced coffee.

“I know, I know, I’m just teasing” he replied.  Chu Shuzhi looked at him and huffed, a soft and fond smile on his face.

‘God I love him’ he thought to himself as he continued to stare at Guo Changcheng, whose eyes were now closed as he enjoyed a gentle breeze blowing through the park.  After the breeze passed, Guo Changcheng opened his eyes, but he felt someone staring at him, so he turned to see Chu Shuzhi looking at him, a soft smile on his face.

“Chu-ge?  Do I have something on me?  Is there something on my face?” he asked.  Chu Shuzhi blinked before he shook his head.

“No, no, you look fine” he assured.  Guo Changcheng nodded and smiled softly before he let out a content sigh and leaned against Chu Shuzhi, resting his head on Chu Shuzhi’s shoulder.

“It’s so nice today…we should do this more often” he declared, glancing up at Chu Shuzhi, who looked down at him and smiled slightly before reaching up to play with his hair, running his fingers through it.

“Mm.  If you want to, we can” he agreed.  Guo Changcheng grinned as he snuggled against Chu Shuzhi, who just chuffed and continued to play with Guo Changcheng’s hair, both of them just enjoying the nice day and the nice weather.

~*~*~*~*~

After spending almost all day at the park, Guo Changcheng and Chu Shuzhi decided to head to Chu Shuzhi’s place for dinner.  Guo Changcheng didn’t really cook, but Chu Shuzhi did and he always keep Guo Changcheng happy and fed, like a little housecat.  When they stepped into the apartment, Chu Shuzhi looked over at Guo Changcheng.

“You can go take a shower; I’ll start making dinner” he stated.  Guo Changcheng nodded and headed towards the bedroom then over to the closet, searching through the stash of clothes he kept at the apartment before he found his comfy pajamas.  After he found his pajamas, he grabbed his underwear then headed to the bathroom, quickly stripping before getting under the hot spray.  He took a quick shower, toweled off, then changed into his pajamas before heading out of the bathroom.  He threw his clothes into a nearby hamper and then walked over to the couch, turning on the TV as Chu Shuzhi was working in the kitchen.

“Are you sure you don’t want my help?” he called out.  Chu Shuzhi huffed and glanced back at him.

“The last time you tried to help me make dinner, you nearly burnt my apartment down!  So no.  Just sit there and be good.  Dinner will be ready soon” he replied.  Guo Changcheng pouted but did as he was told and stayed on the couch, throwing a blanket around himself as he watched whatever was on.  He normally didn’t like to wear blankets, especially in the summer, but Chu Shuzhi liked to keep his apartment like a god damn icebox so he always had a blanket around him when he was at Chu Shuzhi’s apartment.  As he snuggled underneath the blanket, he tried to get into whatever was playing on the TV, but nothing was really interesting him, mainly because he was hungry and whatever the hell Chu Shuzhi was making smelled really good.  Guo Changcheng then looked up, his eyes widening as he stared at Chu Shuzhi’s back muscles.  He hadn’t realized that the other man had taken off his long sweater and black scarf and was now just wearing his black tank top that revealed his back muscles, which were really impressive no matter how many times he stared at them.  As he continued to stare at Chu Shuzhi’s back muscles, he felt his face heating up so he quickly covered his face with the blanket and let out a silent scream; god Chu Shuzhi was just so handsome it blew his mind how he had ended up with someone like him.

“Xiao Guo?” a voice called out, causing Guo Changcheng to glance up from the blanket to see Chu Shuzhi raising an eyebrow at him.

“What are you doing?” he asked.  Guo Changcheng blushed again before he quickly buried his face back into the blanket.

“Hiding” he replied, but the soft fabric of the blanket muffled it.  Chu Shuzhi looked at him in confusion before he walked over to him and stood beside him.

“I’m sorry, what was that?” he asked.  Guo Changcheng shook his head.

“I’m hiding” he replied, louder this time.  Chu Shuzhi huffed.

“And why are we hiding?” he inquired.  Guo Changcheng was quiet, thinking about how to tell Chu Shuzhi that he was staring at him, when his face started to heat up again.

“My face is all red” he replied.  Chu Shuzhi frowned in concern.

“Are you sick?  Do you need medicine?” he asked.  Guo Changcheng shook his head.

“No…it’s not red because of that reason” he replied.  Chu Shuzhi frowned, this time in confusion, before he blinked.

“You’re hiding your face in the blanket because you’re blushing?” he asked.  Guo Changcheng blushed even harder as he shook his head, still not removing his face.  Chu Shuzhi rolled his eyes before he walked back into the kitchen and grabbed their dinner, walking back into the living room.  He then walked over to the couch and nudged Guo Changcheng’s shoulder with his hip.

“Hey, it’s time to eat.  You gotta take your face out of the blanket to do that” he stated.  Guo Changcheng let out a groan, causing Chu Shuzhi to sigh and nudge him with his hip again.

“Xiao Guo, come on” he grumbled.  Guo Changcheng sighed before he lowered the blanket from his face, revealing slightly tinged cheeks.  Chu Shuzhi looked at him and smiled softly before he shook his head and handed him his dinner.

“Here” he murmured.  Guo Changcheng looked up at him and smiled, taking his dinner from Chu Shuzhi as Chu Shuzhi sat down beside him, nudging him with his hip again.

“Scoot over, you’re hogging the couch” he murmured.  Guo Changcheng chuckled and scooted over, allowing Chu Shuzhi some more space on the small couch in his apartment.

“Amazing, it’s my apartment yet you make yourself so at home here” Chu Shuzhi grumbled as he took a bite of his dinner.  Guo Changcheng tsked.

“I live here too, dummy” he reminded, gently elbowing Chu Shuzhi in the arm.  Chu Shuzhi chuffed before he and Guo Changcheng sat in silence, watching the television and enjoying dinner.  After dinner, Chu Shuzhi took the dishes and headed back to the kitchen, quickly washing them before heading back to the couch, sitting down beside Guo Changcheng again.  Guo Changcheng immediately snuggled against him and Chu Shuzhi covered his lap and Guo Changcheng’s shoulder with the blanket, Guo Changcheng resting his head on Chu Shuzhi’s shoulder like how he had at the park.

“So, wanna tell me why you were blushing so hard you had to hide your face in the blanket?  Did you see something you liked?” Chu Shuzhi teased, causing Guo Changcheng to gasp.

         “Wha—” he started.

“You think I didn’t notice?  I felt your eyes on my back” Chu Shuzhi stated, making Guo Changcheng blush again.

“Chu-ge” he whined.  Chu Shuzhi laughed and leaned forward, pressing a kiss to Guo Changcheng’s forehead.

“You can’t hide anything from me, Xiao Guo” he teased.  Guo Changcheng let out a whine.

“You’re mean” he grumbled.  Chu Shuzhi chuckled.

“So I’ve been told” he replied.  Guo Changcheng huffed as he snuggled against Chu Shuzhi, pouting.

“So what if I was staring?  I’m allowed to stare” he murmured.  Chu Shuzhi chuckled again.

“Yes, yes you are” he agreed as he turned his head and pressed a kiss to Guo Changcheng’s head.  Guo Changcheng hummed contently, a small smile on his face.

“Love you” he murmured.  Chu Shuzhi smiled as well.

“Love you too” he replied, gently stroking Guo Changcheng’s arm as they continued to watch TV, comfort and warm surrounding them.
