Work Text:
Music surrounds Percy. It hums in his head, dances against his fingertips, echoes behind each step. His mom had played it and sung it and lived it when he was young and it only became a more prominent part of him as he grew older.
It's not really surprising then, when he meets Jason Grace and his entire body starts singing.
The boy with the too short hair and the too long legs. The boy with the bright smile and the electric blue eyes. The boy with calluses on his fingers from violin and blisters on his heels from ballet. The boy who's every line and angle screams Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, Wolfgang. As if he is made from sheet music, from crescendo notes, and tuned keys.
"My soul sings when it feels you." He whispered the first time he laid eyes on the blonde.
Jason had smiled wide, as if he'd heard it from across the world, the city, the pavement.
Percy whispers it again and again and again. Through their first kiss, first tumble between the sheets; through every swim meet and football match and dance recital and violin concert; and when they wake up together and when he goes to sleep on the phone. He whispers it like a prayer and a promise.
And Jason smiles that wide bright smile. And says, "My heart aches when we're apart."
