Work Text:
It all happened so fast. One second she was signing away her snapback and the next she was lying in an ambulance, shipped off to the ER.
So it starts like this, K/DA were coming off the last leg of their World Tour, completely dominating the charts and sales. Their adrenaline was high, the screams of their fans somehow even higher and more ear piercing. As they walk through the tunnel leading to their van, they stop along the way, conversing with patient fans lined up along the barriers on both sides.
“Hey there little one,” Akali greets softly, she squats down to be eye level with the young, starstruck fan. “I love this poster, did you make it yourself?” The little girl has tears in her eyes as she nods, looking at Akali as if she were the world.
Akali’s welcoming and kind smile coaxes the young girl out of her shell as she becomes more giddy and talkative. Akali signs her poster and takes off her hat, signs the inside of the bill, and hands it to the fan. “Take care of this for me, okay?” She offers with a wide grin, giving the girl a hug and a pat on the head, “I’ll see you around!”
As Akali moves along, she pauses every now and then to sign and take selfies. She’s posing with a fan, planting a hand on their shoulder as the front facing camera shows the rest of the members in the background.
A flash of movement on the corner of the screen catches Akali’s eye. She whips her head around in alarm and sees a crazed man running towards the unsuspecting popstars.
Akali dashes forward, mouth open in a yell, but her warning goes unyielded in the loud echoing tunnel. The man has a small wooden bat, subtle enough to sneak by security. His arm is raised and ready to attack… Evelynn!
Evelynn who is still being her gorgeous, graceful self, walking the drab tunnel, making it her runway. She’s waving at her fans like a Queen would wave to her people. She’s not quite smiling, but she looks happy, content, seeing her hard work pay off. She’s also just a massive glutton for attention, but still, she’s positively radiant.
And she’s about to get bonked in the head.
“DEMON. YOU HAVE NO PLACE HERE.” The man bellows, striking down. His face is foul, fear and hatred etched plainly on his cruel features.
Not on my watch, bucko . Akali thinks. She reaches them just in the knick of time, pushing Evelynn back and raising her hand to mitigate the attack.
There is a sickening crack as the bat connects onto Akali’s temple, her hand not doing quite enough to stop the blow entirely.
Unphased, she shoves at the man’s chest with unbridled strength, her years of training coming back to her in an instant. He tumbles backwards in surprise, before regaining his balance and fixing his stance, now squared off towards Akali.
“Step aside mortal, my fight is not with you, only those monstrosities behind you!” He spits out, words full of loathing.
“Dude, what are you on about?” Akali has her hands out in a placating manner, looking to de-escalate and detain before more people get hurt. She sees guards running towards her, but also sees some fans looking to capitalize on the chaos to get closer to the idols.
“Get them out of here! And keep the people out!” Akali yells, redirecting the guards to something more productive.
She hears Evelynn shouting at her and Ahri’s cries, but she tunes them out as the man starts charging towards her again.
With a well timed side step, she dodges his swipe, and grabs onto his arm, stopping his advance and flinging him back. She keeps herself between him and her retreating bandmates, worried that the second she turns her back on him, he’d take off towards them.
Not that they can’t handle themselves, but if anyone was to get hurt, she would rather it be her. They’re all too hot to have scars, anyway.
The man gets a frenzied look in his eyes and redoubles his nefarious efforts. His swings are strong and powered by rage. She blocks as best as she can, remaining on the defensive until she’s sure her girls are safe and that there won’t be a mob.
She’s able to grab a hold of his weapon, but not before taking another smack to her ribs, “Fucking ow, you shithead.” She growls, ripping the baton out of his grasp and flinging it far behind her where he can’t reach.
She kicks him back, hoping that the loss of his weapon will discourage him, but it seems to do the opposite. His punches are unpredictable and thrown wildly. She can’t analyze his fight pattern to counter because he doesn’t have one. He’s basically thrashing around.
Akali switches to the offensive, understanding that she has to put this man down, lest more people get hurt. She threads the needle with her jab, waiting for that slight opening between his attacks.
His head snaps back, and she puts him to the ground. She’s got him in a headlock, legs trapping his own so he can’t flail. She has one of her arms wrapped around his shoulder, immobilizing 3 of his 4 limbs.
And still he persists, yelling out obscenities, cursing out the K/DA members for being abominations and wishing them ill.
She notices that most of the fans have backed away in alarm, but there are still a handful being held back by the guards.
Suddenly, she feels a sharp pain in her side, and she cries out and looks down. There is a knife! Lodged in her flank! What! The! Fuck!
Grunting, she squeezes harder, the muscles in her arms burning with effort. Rolling over, she pins the man down with her hip, painstakingly moving her impaled side away from him.
It only takes a couple more seconds before his struggles stop, his entire body going limp underneath hers. Letting out a gasp, she shifts off of him, and falls over onto her back, gasping for air.
Her eye stings and when she goes to wipe it, her hand comes away sticky with blood. The world above her starts to spin, “Aw shit, man. What have you done?”
She lifts her head slightly and sees a small hand knife protruding from her stomach. She looks away quickly, the sight causing bile to rise quickly. “That’s fucking gross. The girls are gonna kill me…” She rolls her head to face the man, speaking deliriously, “D’you think Evelynn likes girls with scars? I swear, man, if you’ve ruined this for me, I’ll find you and kill you myself.”
Akali is definitely concussed. And in love. With a demon? She would’ve told me… right? She thinks, lying in that dirty concrete tunnel. She isn’t sure how long it’s been until a paramedic’s worried face enters her frame of vision.
“Stay with me. We’ll get you patched up.”
“Chicks dig scars right? Like, that’s a thing?” she slurs out, head lolling to the side as she’s being prodded at. She winces at the bright light shone into her eyes. “Oi, knock it off, no flash photography, please.”
She swats at the offending light, but severely misjudges, her depth perception shot to hell. She ends up slapping at the paramedic instead. Her movement triggers that damn knife still stuck in her, and she yelps in pain.
“Oh my gods, get it out! There is a knife! Hello sir! There is a literal knife in me, please get it out!” She wails, her breath picks up, and she starts to hyperventilate. A knife...in ME!
“Can’t do that ma’am, if we take it out now, you’ll bleed out. We’re gonna transport you to the ER. The doctor will remove it.”
They put a mask over her face to stabilize her breathing as they transport her into the ambulance. “Please stop squirming, you’ll only upset your wound.”
“Well I am a little upset right now! I was having a really good time and now I’m not!” she says indignantly, but she settles down. Her words are garbled and she can feel her body giving out on her.
Five months of travelling and performing with minimal rest is bound to take a toll on her. Slowly, she feels her eyes falling shut, no longer having enough energy to keep them open despite the efforts of the paramedic.
---
Evelynn turns around too late. She was so busy soaking up all the attention from her adoring fans that she didn't process Akali’s warning in time. She heard her faint cries in the discord of the tunnel, but when she realised, she was too late.
By the time she turned, she could only watch as the bat connected with the tender part of Akali’s precious head. She felt the rage overtake her, something that she had kept contained for so long, finally breaking free.
He hurt Akali. Is the only thing she can think as her vision goes dark, her demonshade eager to come out and make that man suffer.
A hand wraps around her waist and tugs her out of the fray. She feels Ahri before she sees her, her angry but contained whisper close in her ear, “Control yourself, Eve, they don’t know. We have to get out of here.”
Evelynn whips her head back in outrage and glares at Ahri. She knows she’s right, but every fiber of her being is calling to unleash upon this man and protect Akali. Her eyes catch onto Kai’sa’s stunned face. She can see the voidling scuttling just below the surface of her skin and her shoulders bulging slightly.
Realizing the potential disaster that they are in, Evelynn reluctantly acquiesces, quickly grabbing Ahri and Kai’sa’s hand and pulling them further away. She stifles her own anger and sees Ahri holding Kai’sa now, wrapping her tail around her, whispering into her ear.
Kai’sa’s jaw muscle thrums, as if on the verge of splitting open. Ahri strokes at her face softly, eyes fixed onto the dancer with the utmost care, talking her down, keeping her voidling hidden from view. Kai’sa’s hands scratch at her neck, the frantic movement of her symbiote making her insides itch with discomfort.
A guard reaches them and escorts them quickly to their vans. Evelynn puts up a fight, arguing to stay, but their manager is able to convince her that it’ll be safer for everyone if they left while he stayed behind.
Kai’sa seems to come to, having successfully held back her symbiote and sputters, “We have to help Akali! That man is crazy! We have to help her!”
Ahri steps in front of her again, hands running up and down her arms, placating Kai’sa and calming her down once again. “We can’t, Bokkie, you know we can’t. The best thing we can do is let Akali handle herself, okay? She’ll be okay, she’s got training.”
With the group finally safe in the van, the driver sets off. The tension is thick. Evelynn is visibly and audibly seething, her arms crossed, eyes glowing a bright but dangerous gold. There are tears in Kai’sa’s eyes and her hands are shaking. Ahri’s head is in her hands, her entire body stiff with anger and worry.
After a stifling ride back to their hotel, the driver pulls up to their hotel and the girls step out somberly.
They all pile into a bedroom, no one wanting to be alone in the moment.
Ahri pulls out her phone, running interference and damage control once again, like the perfect leader they need her to be.
Evelynn’s lashers whip out, hugging Kai’sa and keeping her grounded. She shucks off her finger claws and her natural ones grow out, unable to remain contained. Kai’sa’s symbiote emerges, hardening around her forearm.
Silently, Kai’sa offers her arm to Evelynn, who takes it gratefully. She wraps her hand around her arm and sinks her claws into the silvery armored skin, letting out the tantamount anger swirling inside onto something that won’t break so easily.
A gasp brings the two out of their momentary relief. Ahri has a hand covering her mouth, tears pricking at her eyes.
“What happened?” Kai’sa broaches, Evelynn’s claws dig deeper into her skin.
Shaking her head, Ahri cries, tears falling quickly as she shoves the phone towards the two.
It’s a video posted on Twitter.
It’s a video of Akali grappling with the man, trying her best not to hurt him despite all the damage that he’s caused. Her shrill cry can be heard through the phone as it pierces through the room. When the fight is over and Akali releases the man, the knife sticks out prominently against the heaving of the rapper’s body.
Kai’sa drops the phone and rushes to the bathroom. The two older members can hear her retching into the toilet. Evelynn shifts further into her shade. She can’t help it, and Ahri doesn’t move to stop her.
Their monstrous energy is overwhelming, floating off both of their bodies in waves. Before they can do anything, a chime from Ahri's phone snaps them out of it.
Manager Unnie (22:17)
Go to Memorial General Hospital in an hour, they’re taking her there. You can come earlier, but they won’t let you see her until she gets a bed. Contain yourselves, or don’t bother coming.
Ahri relays the text to a demonic Evelynn, who roars in agony. The walls tremble and Ahri winces, glad she’s kept her earplugs in lest her eardrums shatter. Evelynn falls to her knees, chest heaving, and eyes tearful. There are claws marks etched deep into the hotel carpet.
“We have to go, Eve.” Ahri places a comforting hand on her back, giving grounding strokes. “C’mon, get it together, we need to go.” She says kneeling down, putting her forehead onto Evelynn’s.
Ahri holds her as she shifts back, breathing deeply with her. Evelynn’s eyes are bloodshot and furious. “I’m just as mad as you are, Evelynn, I promise. But right now, we need to be there for Akali. We can go fuck him up later.”
Evelynn blows out a breath, “How did this fucking happen?”
Ahri shakes her head sadly. She wipes at her own tears and pulls Evelynn up. Kai’sa walks out on shaky legs and just engulfs them both in her long arms, holding them tight.
“We have to go.”
Evelynn grabs her keys. One of the perks of being the star studded diva was having their crew bring one of her cars along, or at the very least, renting her a car so that they could go wherever they wanted on their off days.
She breaks nearly every traffic law getting them there, but neither of the girls care enough to say anything. They just want to be with their maknae.
---
The paramedic keeps waking her up. When she gets to the ER, the doctors and the nurses keep waking her up. And for what? Akali just wants to sleep. Her head is throbbing and she feels woozy so please, can’t a girl get some shut eye?
The doctor talks to her, but she doesn’t really hear him. She keeps palming at her pants, thinking her phone would magically appear so she can call her friends, but she can’t. They put her in this loud thrumming machine, as if her head hasn’t suffered enough. She groans through most of it.
Finally, finally, when they admit her into the hospital, she gets her own room and her own bed. The nurse says something about waking up every 2 hours, but she promptly tunes out, succumbing to her fatigue.
When she wakes up, she feels a heavy weight on her right side and registers movement on her left. The nurse smiles at her and does her check ups, making sure there isn’t any latent brain damage.
She looks over to her right and spots a head of platinum hair. Eve! She takes her opposing hand and reaches over slowly, digging her hands into those soft tresses.
At her touch, Evelynn awakes and pops her head up, golden eyes filled with worry and anguish. “Akali, love, you’re awake.” She coos, scooting closer.
“Unfortunately.” Akalil grumbles back. “Miss nurse says every 2 hours.”
The nurse shrugs, unapologetic, “It’s protocol for head trauma, you were very lucky to only walk away with stitches and a small concussion. We’d like to keep it that way.” She finishes up and leaves the two in the room.
“Glad you guys got out, that guy was not okay.” Akali says, trying to lighten up Evelynn’s gloomy expression.
Evelynn just sighs and holds onto her hand tighter. Akali weakly squeezes back, “I’m okay, everything’s okay.”
At that Evelynn glares at Akali, “It’s not okay that you were stabbed! It’s not okay that we were attacked, Akali, don’t you understand?!”
Akali winces at her volume, her concussion rendering her sensitive. Evelynn flinches back, “I’m sorry.. I’m so sorry…” she whispers, head falling onto the bed.
“It’s okay.” Akali placates, understanding Evelynn’s anger and that she needs reassurance after something like that had happened. She runs her hands through her hair, letting silky strands fall between her fingers.
“It should’ve been me, Akali. You shouldn’t have been there. You were so far away.”
“There’s no way in hell I would’ve let that guy bonk you. Any of you.” She says with resolution, “anyway, where are Ahri and Kai’sa? Are they okay?”
“They’re fine. They were both here earlier, but the hospital said only one of us could stay overnight, so I’m staying.”
Akali hums, her head feeling heavy, the thrumming seeming to come back full force. “Eve, you don’t have to stay.. I’m just gonna be sleeping, you can go back and sleep in a bed.”
Evelynn just shakes her head, “I’m staying, ‘Kali, and I’m never letting you out of my sight again.”
The night passes by fitfully, neither really able to get the rest they needed, but both basking in each other’s presence, grateful for the company.
Akali tries to get Evelynn to sleep on the bed with her but is quickly reprimanded by the nurse when she comes in to do her checkups. The nurse jokingly threatens to kick her out, but Evelynn fixes her with a glare so frightening that the nurse scurries out.
The minute visiting hours start, Ahri and Kai’sa burst in, hands laden with coloring books and breakfast. Akali is already awake, the daytime nurse having just done her rounds.
The four spend the day together, keeping screens and any offending light away from Akali’s eyes. They read to her and have her coloring on the books they brought her to keep her entertained.
Kai’sa offers to stay that night, and Evelynn looks hesitant, but Akali’s imploring smile convinces her to go back to the hotel to get some rest. Before the others take their leave, Akali grabs onto Ahri’s hand, causing them to pause.
“Don’t go looking for that guy, okay? Please? He’s not okay, I don’t think he meant what he was doing. Knowing you two… y’all would probably look to set his house on fire or something.. But don’t do it okay? For me?”
Evelynn watches on as Akali pleads with them. Her eyes are filled with pain. Ahri complies, promising not to do anything fishy. As they leave, Ahri gives Eve a heavy look, knowing that they need to have a long talk with Akali when she gets discharged.
The next day passes by similarly, Akali being able to retain focus for most of the day, clear signs that her concussion is healing well. The doctor discharges her on the 3rd day, giving the girls instructions on how to clean her bandages and to manage her concussion.
Luckily, their last tour city was not too far from home and the doctor had cleared her for air travel, so the first thing they did was fly back to the comfort of their own city.
The girls stay close to Akali as her wounds heal, but it’s mostly Evelynn that spends a majority of her time by Akali’s side, ensuring that she doesn’t need to do anything on her own.
It makes Akali love her even more. It’s what made her fall for her in the first place. She loves how much Evelynn cares, even though the tabloids say otherwise literally every other week. She’s always been attentive and protective, even when they first met and didn’t necessarily get along.
Evelynn has always seen the best in Akali and always pushes her to be her best. She is her number one supporter, followed closely by Ahri and Kai’sa. She can’t imagine her life without the beautiful siren, and she can’t hold her affections in any longer.
Akali steels herself, resolving to let Evelynn know her true feelings, but one look at her face and she knew that now was probably not the time. There’s a deep frown on Evelynn’s face and her eyebrows are pulled in together.
Evelynn settles next to Akali, but she doesn’t say anything. Her body is tense but her ire doesn’t seem to be directed towards Akali in particular.
“Eve?” Akali broaches cautiously, “what’s wrong?” She reaches across and places a tentative hand on Evelynn’s fisted one.
Evelynn just sighs, releasing the tension that had been built up. She rubs her forehead with her free hand and gives Akali a sad look.
“That man wasn’t delusional, Akali. Not that what he did was right, but he wasn’t crazy.”
“What do you mean? You didn’t hear what he said! He called you guys monstrosities, Eve!”
“You know Ahri isn’t human. Is it so far-fetched that we’re not either?” Evelynn tries to explain their situation, lamenting the fact that they had kept Akali in the dark for so long.
“Akali.. I’m so sorry for not telling you this earlier. It was my decision to keep this away from you and I’m so sorry.” Evelynn starts to cry, “I was going to tell you, but I was afraid that you would turn away from me when you found out what I really am.” Darkness swirls around them as Evelynn shifts into her demonshade.
“Eve, I don’t understand. What’s happening?” Akali’s breath picks up and she looks around frantically. When she turns back to Evelynn, she finds a demon sitting in front of her, pink slits replacing her eyes, horns sharp on her head. Her body is shadowy and smoky, as if her hand would pass through it if she tried to touch her.
“He was right, Akali, I’m a demon, and I’m not human.” The voice is low, with a timber that echoes inside her head.
Akali gulps and tries to settle her breathing. “Holy shit.” She reaches a hand out and tries to touch her, but it’s Evelynn that flinches away. “Can I?” She tries again.
Slowly, Evelynn nods, afraid that she’d hurt Akali. When Akali lays a hand on her, her dread and fear is replaced with warmth. “You’re a demon…” Akali's hand reaches Evelynn’s chest, she presses in slightly as if trying to feel all of her.
“I am.”
“Do you, uh, kill people?” Akali asks, head tilted like a curious puppy. There’s no fear on her face, she knows with absolute certainty that Evelynn would never hurt her.
“Not anymore, but a long time ago I did.”
“Did you know that guy? How did he know?”
“I don’t know, Akali, but you never should've gotten caught in between us like that. If anything like that ever happens again, I don’t want you to get hurt for what I am.”
“I mean… it’s not your fault you’re a demon. It’s just who you are, right?” Akali picks at the stitches on her temple.
Evelynn notices and quickly snatches her hand away before she can do any damage to her wound.
Akali laughs and shuffles closer, “See? You’re still my Evie aren’t you? You’re still the same diva that kicked my ass and taught me to respect my elders.” She slowly wraps her arms around Evelynn, embracing her in her full demon glory. “You’re still the person I love.”
Evelynn reverts back to her human form, arms clutching at Akali’s back, holding her back just as tight. “You keep surprising me, Akali. Everytime I think I know you, you always surprise me.”
Akali blushes, her words a little on the nose. She still hasn’t confessed, not really. Guess she’ll have to table that surprise for another time.
“Wait, does that mean… Does that mean Kai’sa’s not human either?”
“I’ll let her show you herself.” Evelynn says, sending a quick text to Kai’sa, not wanting to yell while Akali was still sensitive to light and sound.
In a flash, Ahri and Kai’sa bound down the steps, eyes frantic, “Eve! What’s wrong?”
Evelynn fixes them with a smirk, arm perched protectively over Akali's shoulders, “Nothing, I just wanted you guys down here quicker.”
“Bokkie!” Akali cries out, “Do the thing!”
“The thing?”
“The thing! Eve said you’re not human! Show me, show me!” Akali begs, nearly bouncing in excitement.
Kai’sa’s jaw drops, and she looks at Akali with wonderment, like she’s the one who’s not human. “You’re not scared of us?”
“Why would I be scared of you? Are you gonna hurt me?”
“What?! No! Of course not. Akali, I promise I will never, ever hurt you.” Kai’sa says, kneeling in front of Akali, as if swearing loyalty to her liege.
“Yay! I’m not scared of you, so show me!”
Laughter fills the house, the members at a loss with how well Akali seems to be taking in their true forms. Kai’sa stands up to her full height and lets her symbiote encase her skin. Her shoulder pods rise out of her body and hover right above her.
“Oh my- you’re like a giant bug” causing the group to laugh again. “Can you shoot out of those things?”
“I can, but it tends to destroy everything... so I try not to.”
“That’s so cool, can you do it anyway? Pleeeease.”
“Not inside the house!” Ahri cries out, smacking at the shoulder pods as if she could manually force them back into Kai’sa’s body.
Akali gasps. “Ahri do the thing!”
“What? I don’t have a thing. What did Evelynn tell you?” Ahri retorts, a little defensive.
“She said you’re not human.” Akali pouts, hoping for another juicy reveal. She’s really getting a kick out of this. Who knew she lived in a house full of monsters?
“I’m not,” she states obviously, waving her tail in the air, “But that doesn't mean all inhumans have powers .”
“But you have powers right? Riiiight?” Akali drags out, she’s been around the girls long enough to know when they’re deflecting, and Ahri is showing all the signs. She isn’t subtle.
“Ugh, fine, but I’m not as badass as these two, so don’t you dare laugh at me!” Ahri warns before fanning out all 9 of her tails and drawing an energy orb into the palm of her hand.
“OH MY GOD. YOU HAVE A RASENGAN. AHRI, YOU’VE BEEN NARUTO THIS ENTIRE FUCKING TIME AND YOU DIDN’T THINK TO TELL ME. I EVEN SHOWED YOU MY NARUTO COLLECTION, HOW DARE YOUUUUUUU!” Akali wails into Evelynn’s shoulder, truly betrayed by the turn of events.
Ahri sighs fondly, letting the energy orb dissipate. She sits down beside Akali and pulls Kai’sa down with her, all settling into the couch. “I’m sorry we didn’t tell you sooner, we just didn’t know when the right time would be and by then it just seemed too late.”
Akali moves out of Evelynn’s shoulder and looks at each of her members lovingly in the eyes. “It’s okay guys, I understand. Seeing how that guy reacted, and how well known you all are, I get it. No hard feelings. I love you guys, okay? And nothing will ever change that.”
Kai’sa wipes tears from her eyes and clutches tight onto Ahri’s shoulder, “thank you so much Akali, you don’t know how much this means to me.” she blubbers, tears starting to fall faster. The girls cuddle in close, swaddling Akali into a cocoon of warm bodies.
“Now, y’all can make it up to me for tanking this shot by using your god given gifts to blow some shit up. Please! I wanna see it.”
Ahri sighs again and relents, “Okay fine. When you’re all healed up, we can go out to some remote desert, and we’ll shoot some stuff.”
“Yes.” Akali hisses, perfectly happy in her nest of monsters, surrounded by the best friends in the world.
----
After 2 weeks, Evelynn drives Akali to the hospital to get her sutures removed from her forehead and her stomach. On the drive there, Eve’s lasher was sitting pretty on Akali’s lap, the latter having taken a liking to stroking the leathery feel of the lasher.
During the quick removal, Eve holds Akali's hand, more for herself than for Akali. Afterwards, the nurse leaves them in the room to gather the last of the paperwork and care instructions. Eve stands in between Akali’s legs, one hand tilting the rapper’s chin up and the other stroking softly at the healing wound.
Evelynn has a displeased frown on her brow, and Akali is quick to notice.
Moving her head away, Akali rubs at the scab, “That bad, huh? Here I was hoping it wouldn’t scar so much.” She has an insecure look in her eyes as she keeps her hand over the scar, trying to keep it hidden.
“No, no, love, it’s not bad.” Evelynn takes the hand and holds it in her own, “It actually suits you a little,” she says, tilting her head to the side, “I just don’t like seeing you hurt.”
The reassuring words uplifts Akali’s spirits, but Evelynn still has an uneasy look on her face. She squeezes their joined hands and when she catches Evelynn’s eye, she raises an eyebrow, asking Evelynn a silent question.
After a moment of deliberation, Evelynn heaves a sigh. “Truth is… I would’ve burned down the city if something happened to you,” she whispers, “I care about you so much, Akali, more than you know.”
Akali’s eyes widened at the confession, the loving look in Evelynn’s eye conveying exactly what she meant. “Show me then.”
Evelynn’s face lights up into a brilliant smile, one that Akali rarely sees herself. Her hands cup Akali’s face as she bends down to give her a chaste kiss, nothing more than a press of her lips against Akali’s.
As she moves away, Akali’s hands reach up to hold the back of her neck, keeping her close. She chases Evelynn’s lips, giving her a deeper, fuller kiss. “If anything ever happened to you, I’d burn down the entire world for you.” Akali whispers against her lips.
The two move in to each other, eager for another taste.
The door swings open, “Oh Jesus, I’m so sorry.” The nurse covers her eyes with her hand, papers flailing in the other. She tosses the packet of instructions down on the nearby table and promptly turns around. “Here are the instructions for aftercare! You’re free to go!”
The two erupt into giggles at the scene they had just caused. Evelynns grabs Akali's hands and pulls her off the bed. She snatches up the stack of papers and loops an arm around Akali’s shoulder, holding her close. She gives a gentle kiss to Akali’s newly formed scar, “Don’t worry darling, I have your back, and you have mine. The world will survive another day.”
