Work Text:
Of all the things Yuno had thought would happen today, frantically looking around town for a drunk Asta was not one of them.
Both his and Asta’s birthday is coming up and Yuno had decided to shop around town for the perfect gift for the green eyed boy. Although his face didn’t express it, he was actually quite excited because for the first time in his life he actually had money to buy a decent gift. Growing up they had to resort to hand made gifts or things that they found and Asta had always been the better gift giver, searching far and wide for the perfect gift for Yuno. Asta didn’t have any magic but it was almost magical how he always managed to think of the perfect gift.
Yuno tried his hardest to do the same but he couldn’t never compete with Asta’s gift giving skills. Yuno had always felt unsure and lacking when giving his gifts but Asta loved everything that Yuno gave him and Yuno knows that to this day, Asta has kept every single thing that Yuno has ever given him. Asta called them his treasures and the first time Yuno heard those words his heart skipped a beat.
But while out exploring the town, he ran into three members of the Black Bulls: Finral, Vice-Captain Langris’s brother, the delinquent looking one, and the happy berserker from the dungeon mission( Yuno is not good with names). The delinquent one and the happy berserker were rolling on the ground in uncontrollable fits of laughter while Finral darted back and forth looking frantic.
Not wanting to get involved in whatever that was, Yuno tried to leave but accidentally locked eyes with Finral who immediately rushed over to him.
Almost bawling Finral began to beg Yuno for help. “Yuno! You know Asta pretty well right, right? You gotta help us! We lost Asta!”
At those words the other two broke into renewed fits of laughter and Yuno was absolutely confused on what the problem was.
“He’ll be fine.” Yuno said simply and tried to extract himself from Finral’s grip but that only made Finral grip harder and become even more desperate.
“No! You don’t understand! He’s terribly drunk and ran off somewhere!”
“Drunk?” Asta drunk. Now that was surprising since Asta was underage and he knew that Asta wasn’t the type to engage in underage drinking.
“Yes! Our drinks got switched—it was super fruity— it tasted just the same as the juice so we didn’t know before it was too late.
Yuno calmly removed Finral’s hands and took step back. “Not my problem.”
Then he ran away.
“Wait! Yuuuno! Come back.”
In truth, Yuno went off on his own to find Asta as it would be much faster that way.
Out of nowhere Yuno heard a loud scream of his name that could only come from Asta and then all of a sudden Yuno felt a force colliding into him forcing him into a free fall. He manages to create a cloud of air to cushion himself and his tackler and after finally regaining his bearings he found himself in a deserted city square with an excited asta sitting in his lap, his legs wrapped around Yuno’s waste in a semi kneeling position that is, to say the very least, a bit compromising.
Yuno is pissed and rightfully so. “Asta, what the hell!?”
Any further disgruntled lecturing words from Yuno are cut off as Asta yells Yuno’s name in an adorably excited way.
It broke Yuno ‘s chain of angry thoughts and he finds himself staring a bit dumbly at the cute boy sitting in his lap. Asta’s smile is warm and loving with something a bit more than just friendly in his; His eyes are half lidded and hazy but there’s the crinkle of laugh lines around his eyes from his beaming smile and a fond twinkle shining in the green emerald’s of his eyes; His cheeks are flushed rosy red and his lips are slightly wet from his tongue running over plump flesh. Asta is a vision before him, stunning and vivacious, he is both a dream and nightmare, a want and a cannot have.
Asta just excitedly and happily repeats Yuno’s wiggling around in Yuno’s lap laughing and grabbing onto the dark haired boy’s hands.
Yuno tries to disentangle himself from Asta’s hold but Asta is physically stronger than him and refuses to move off and Yuno doesn’t have the heart to thrown him off with magic at the moment. He’s sure if he did then that wonderfully giddy smile would turn into tears. So he’s stuck—enjoying the situation far more than he should while also hating every moment of this because he cannot keep his thoughts straight.
This is exactly why Yuno insisted that they couldn’t sleep in the same bed anymore when they were thirteen, this is exactly why Yuno had insisted that rivals shouldn’t be close to each other, this is why Yuno buried his feelings for Asta— he couldn’t stand the loss of control. He hated feeling horribly flustered as his face turned red against his will and his heart pounded far too loudly in his ears, and he especially hated the desire of his mind to throw out any and all of his rigid inhibitions to preserve his and Asta’s loosely platonic friendship out the god damn metaphorical window.
Asta ceased his wiggling and suddenly grabbed onto Yuno’s face. Yuno wheezes, air, words, and thoughts all failing him.
Asta wobbles a bit drunkenly and tilts his head cutely to the side. “Hey Yuno, just let me kiss you.”
Yuno stops working completely freezing in place. Asta surges forward crashing his lips on to Yuno’s in what is probably the worlds worst kiss but Yuno finds, that despite the force and other technical problems, the kiss is a wonderful dream— a dream that is broken as Asta slumps to the side, his head falling onto Yuno’s shoulder, as he finally passes out from the strong alcohol.
Yuno is dumbfounded.
“You can’t be serious.”
