Summary
Castiel wakes up next to the ocean with his pick-up truck, three PB&J's, and a colorful letter from Jack. Apparently, he's been saved from the Empty. He doesn't know how or why, but all he knows is that Dean and Sam are completing a job in Malibu five hours away, and he has to see them immediately. And most importantly, he has to talk to Dean.
Dean is completing a hunt in California when he receives a call from Cas, of all people. Castiel, who he hasn't seen in six months ever since the Empty took him away. Cas, his best friend (maybe more) who he's been grieving and is now suddenly on the phone with him, talking casually as if that huge love confession didn't happen. Apparently, he's been saved from the Empty. He doesn't know how or why, but all he knows is that Castiel is three hours away and he's going to see him soon. In the flesh. And he's pretty sure he's about to pass out.
This is a story spanning 1674 miles and five states. Along the way, there are some much needed conversations.
