Hero-in-Training SHOTO Goes Missing? Endeavour Agency Confirms They Have New Leads

TOPICS: Heroes Breaking News

On September 26th, the Endeavour Hero Agency and U.A High School released a joint statement on Hero-in-Training SHOTO’s kidnapping. The 17-year-old-hero, currently studying in UA’s Class 3-A, a class infamous for its various run-ins with the League of Villains, was said to have been kidnapped while he was on his way back home from patrol.

Since the release of the original statement, the Endeavour Agency as well as U.A High School have remained silent on the investigations regarding the case. However, this morning both parties released yet another statement confirming that they have acquired leads for a possible rescue mission to save the young hero.

When asked for comments, Number 1 Pro-Hero Endeavour, also SHOTO’s father, declined to say anything.

It’s Katsuki’s first official mission. He clenches his fists and then relaxes them. Open. Close. Open. Close. Open. Kaminari and Sero bicker in the background, and it’s both comforting and terrifying. The rest of his class buzzes as well. They all murmur amongst themselves as they each wait for the assignments for the mission to come in. Everyone is thinking the same thing:

Is Todoroki even alive?

Katsuki clenches his fist again. No. Shoto would have to be alive. He would have to live. Katsuki couldn’t afford to lose another—

Katsuki’s phone buzzes in his pocket and he scrambles to answer the notification. Hell hath no fury than a mother whose text goes un-replied to for more than a minute.

The text message is simple, and yet it calms Katsuki’s nerves down more than he is willing to admit.

Inko Auntie: We will be watching. Show them what you’re made of, Dynamight!

He lets himself smile. Shoto would be fine. He had to be.

Bakugo Mitsuki is a proud woman. She was loud and unafraid, standing tall in even the darkest of times. But right now, as she sat in her living room, husband on one side and best friend on the other, watching her son storm into the villain’s lair to save his best friend, she had never felt more afraid.

Midoriya Inko is an unfortunate woman. She had lost her husband years before, and then tragically her very own son three years ago. She was a woman who had known grief in such an intimate manner that she was convinced nothing could ever break her again. And yet, as she watched Katsuki on the television, Mitsuki’s hand grabbing onto hers, she felt the familiar tendril of grief grasp at her throat again. She had already lost a son. She couldn’t bear to lose another.

On television, Inko watches as Shigaraki Tomura, the head of the League, laughs in Katsuki’s face as the blonde demands to have Shoto back. Masaru is rubbing Mitsuki’s back now as she continues to grip onto Inko’s hands

“Give him back, hand-fuck,” Katsuki says. The angle from which the helicopter films the confrontation is hardly visible, smoke and dust fogging up the lens just enough that only his blonde hair and bright orange explosions can be seen.

Dabi rolls his eyes, appearing from the portal next to Shigaraki.

“So impatient.” The black-haired villain tsk’s before a sick smile takes over his face. The audio is clear. Almost too clear in comparison to the video. Mitsuki squeezes Inko’s hand again.

Katsuki aims an AP Shot at Shigaraki’s face,  which is only met with a wall of Dabi’s fire.

This time, Shigaraki rolls his eyes and grins.

“Green,” he calls, twirling a piece of his hair between his fingers, “it's time to meet your old friend.”

A head of green pops out of the portal, Shoto lugged onto his shoulders like a sack of potatoes. Two boys trail behind the green-haired teen. One with black hair and shark-like teeth, and another with purple hair and dark circles.

The green-haired teen grins at the camera crews that hover above him, and then at Katsuki, like the sun rising up at the horizon.

“Hey, Kacchan.”

Midoriya Inko feels her world go black.

Is it just me, or does that green-haired villain look EXACTLY like that kid who jumped off the Aldera middle school building a couple years ago….?????

“Hey, Kacchan.”

Katsuki is used to the feeling of his world ending. Ever since his encounter with the sludge villain, the breathless feeling of dying, of losing everything, had only followed him around like a constant black cloud.

But right now, as his childhood friend, his Deku, holds onto his barely breathing best friend like a rag doll, Katsuki truly feels like he’s at death’s door.

“Deku,” he whispers. His legs feel like jelly, and he falls to the ground, only to be caught and barely held up by Uraraka and Shoji.

“Deku,” he says again, loud enough that the green-haired boy scrunches up his nose and gags in distaste at the name.

“Didn’t hero school teach you that your nicknames aren’t funny, Kacchan?”

The world quickly falls apart.

The boy with the shark-teeth laughs and playfully punches Izuku.

“Is this that asshole you told me about, ‘Zuku?”

Izuku laughs. It's unlike anything Katsuki has heard before. It's genuine enough, but sounds like nails on a chalkboard. Loud and unnatural.

“Yeah, it's him. He—”

A loud gasp cuts Izuku off and he growls in annoyance, whipping around to glare daggers into the person who interrupted him.

“Kirishima,” Ashido says. Tears fall down her face, thick and fast.

Ah, is all Katsuki can think. Of course Izuku was friends with him. With the one person who Ashido couldn’t save.

His mother’s voice echoes in his head. Karma, it says. Katsuki wants to leave. Wants to run away.

There’s a crackle and then the sound of a small explosion and Katsuki immediately looks up.

Izuku. Quirkless little Izuku. Deku. He was using Katsuki’s quirk. Small, controlled explosions were fired as he created distance between Ashido and Kirishima.

“DEKU!” Katsuki yells. Before he could even think, he was up on his feet and rushing to stop him. To save Shoto. To do something.

Dabi’s wall of flames erupts in front of his vision again, and Katsuki falls back to the ground, white spots dancing in his eyes.

Izuku grins at Dabi and then drops Shoto on the ground. Black and green tendrils creep out from his back, one of them reaching to hold Katsuki in place and the other to wrap around Katsuki’s neck.

“You told me to take a swan dive and hope that I would be born with a quirk in my next life. Guess you were right, Kacchan, because I was re-born with seven.”
