Work Text:
The warm breeze, as gentle as it is, has always been Akito’s biggest enemy.
It is only second class, and yet he is the drowsiest he could get. If the classroom was free of the noisy students and the doting teacher, he knows well he wouldn’t hesitate to give in to his sleepiness. However, only one thing, which is occupying his mind, is keeping him half-awake.
Even if he was technically awake, he kind of wasn’t. He was in the classroom, but his head is up in the clouds. He finds himself looking back to the little moments he has with Touya. For some reason, he really likes playing with his hair and ruffling it. The sight of each colored hair fall back to its place is one hell of a sight to behold, he declares to himself. He likes leaning his head on Touya’s shoulder when they’re on the train. He likes arranging his footsteps to Touya’s so it looks like they’re both matching. He also likes it when Touya instinctively looks at Akito first when their team has finished practicing a song.
The bell rings loud and clear, indicating that the lunch break has begun. It snaps Akito awake, he’s excited.
He immediately leaves the class as soon as the teacher stopped talking, but not without stumbling over, rushing for Touya. Perhaps they could accompany one another today, as per usual.
He can see Touya’s classroom door. Akito passes by his window, eyes half-lidded, searching very hard. Until his sight falls on just the right person—
When the fuck did Touya wear glasses!?
He stared at Touya for god knows how long. He was hurriedly writing something in his notes. Akito thinks that maybe the teacher didn’t give them time to note stuff, so now he’s making sure everything is written down for future purposes that Akito does not care about. He’s suddenly reminded of the warm breeze brushing against his skin a few moments earlier, which is now softly blowing against Touya’s hair. Lost in thought, he observes carefully.
Just as Touya was finished with his race against time, a random student walked up to Touya carrying textbooks. Akito cannot hear what they said to the bespectacled guy but all he can tell is that they’re asking for assistance. Akito decides to ignore the rumbling coming from his stomach to deal with it later. There are important matters unfolding before him now.
Touya is wearing a little smile as he nodded. The student quickly grabbed a chair and sat next to him, pointing at their textbook with a puzzled look on their face. Touya immediately understood how to help. He nods once more and pushes his glasses back up for a better view. He momentarily frowns at the textbook, as if to absorb its contents, and confidently says “Instead of rushing to look for an answer to the question, try to examine the question itself. What does the question ask of you?”
Akito smiles to himself as he hears him clearer, the classroom was almost empty, after all. He always said the exact same words when he helped Akito study for his tests.
The comforting air was threatening to mess up Touya’s tidy hair, and Akito, just this once, was grateful, because he’s getting the chance to tuck his hair behind his ear later.
Touya gave a rundown to the question, explaining every single bit of it to the poor student. He also made sure to give them some steps to follow so they won’t get stuck at things like this. But Touya is Touya, and Touya cannot leave a befuddled student off the hook till he makes sure they’ve completely understood. So he asks them another question he came up with on a whim, just to test them. Surprisingly, the answer didn’t take them long, which reassures him. “If anything gets in the way of your studies, please seek me and I’ll try my best to help.” The student thanks him countless times and bids him farewell.
Touya neatly picks up his own textbooks and stuffs it in his bag. And just as he is taking off his glasses…
“You!!!!” a familiar voice rings throughout the empty class. Touya whips his head to its direction and sees his partner, which somehow fills up his chest with a strangely unfamiliar feeling. “Akito..” he manages to say, he is truly happy to see him. Even though they do see each other at least twice every day of the week, he just never gets tired of Akito.
“Let me get to the point. When the fuck did you start wearing glasses, man?” Akito scoffs, but Touya knows it’s a playful scoff. “…And why the hell is your pencil case so organized?” he adds on. It’s true, nobody brings a pencil case that’s technically 3 cases sewn into one. but Touya digresses the first question, “The first part is where I put my pencils and pens,” He points at the first zipper. “The second is where my eraser, sharpeners and tiny objects go to” he opens up the second zipper and shows him each object as he speaks “And the last is where extra things like my sticky notes and stapler are in.” he finishes off with a smile, but that’s not the case for Akito
“Stop dodging the goddamn ques—“ Akito stops and blinks twice “Did you just say a stapler????” Akito’s voice got 30% louder than before. Touya raises an eyebrow, which somehow makes his glasses slip down his nose just a tiny bit. He reaches his hand to fix it, but Akito beat him to it, and has automatically leaned down and lifted his glasses up from both sides.
Touya is taken back by the sudden gesture. Even if he was familiar with how physically up-close Akito can get, he just can’t predict when is he going to pull stunts like this.
“Errr…” A little blush creeps up his cheeks as he struggles to find the words. Akito finally realizes what he’s done and immediately straightens his posture, looking away. “Whatever, lunch break is almost over, better hurry up.”
Touya chuckles to himself and follows up. He stares down to his feet and catches a glimpse of Akito’s empty hand. He decides to be brave, just for once. He musters up a huge amount of courage by taking a deep sigh, and reaches for it, slowly lacing their fingers together. Warmth travelling all way up to Akito’s body, he looks away in embarrassment, but he doesn’t pull away.
Akito doesn’t know that facing away only makes it easier for Touya to see his beet red ears. It makes his heart flutter.
“Dude, would your glasses fog up if you drink hot coffee?” Akito speaks his one last thought before he is interrupted by his grumbling stomach. To which Touya replies with a laugh and a “I think my glasses shouldn’t be your concern as of now.”
