I Won't Wake Up This Time

Summary:

It had been days, weeks, months even; of Dream sitting in that bed cradling his husband, waiting, for him to wake up, the same surroundings; the bland walls of the bedroom, the area rug that decorated the floor, and the same darkness as that very first night of George falling asleep and evidently not waking up.

Or;
George falls asleep and Dream doesn't know if they're going to wake up again.

Notes:

Hello! This is my first ever (proper) fic! I hope you enjoy it!

Chapter 1: The Promise

Chapter Text

Go to sleep Georgie. I’ll be here when you wake up.” This was a nightly occurrence in the house; Dream telling George to sleep and George arguing, well, not exactly arguing but protesting. “Dream.. what if- what if I won't wake up this time?

You’ll wake up, I know you will.” Dream hushed George, which apparently was enough to convince his husband who cuddled up closer to the blonde, burying their face into his chest “And if you don’t wake up I’ll stay here with you until you do. I promise you.” Dream gently kissed the top of the brunette's head, humming quietly to lull the shorter to sleep.

Boy was Dream wrong.

It had been days, weeks, months even; of Dream sitting in that bed cradling his husband, waiting, for him to wake up, the same surroundings; the bland walls of the bedroom, the area rug that decorated the floor, and the same darkness as that very first night of George falling asleep and evidently not waking up.

A quiet buzzing filled the room and brought the taller blonde out of his thoughts; he looked over at the bedside table where his phone sat charging—buzzing, indicating someone was calling him. He picked the phone up off the bedside table and read;

Snapmap is calling…

Dream waited for the call to pass before opening his phone and opening the messages app.
Three messages, from Sapnap.

Snapmap: dream
Snapmap: are you alright?
Snapmap: you havent left the house for months

Dream sighed, placing his phone back where it was on the bedside table, he wrapped his arms around his husband tighter, mumbling "I won't break my promise George.."
