Work Text:

Satoru walks into the bedroom, exhausted after a mission. He stops in the doorway as he sees Getou, Mimiko, Nanako, Tsumiki and Megumi sprawled out across the bed together. There was…no room for him in bed. God damn it, Suguru. You just had to go and give them two more mouths to feed.

Still, his heart squeezed painfully at the peaceful picture they painted together. Suguru’s mouth was open slightly and his brow was missing the signature “babysitter of Satoru Gojo” creases it usually had.

He breathed out a halfhearted complaint, “well, I guess I’ll just sleep on the couch then. I’m glad you all got comfortable while I was out killing curses.” He trudged out of the bedroom and out to the too small living room. This apartment wasn’t meant to house six people, but they made it work. Being a jujutsu sorcerer didn’t exactly bring in a lot of cash.

He fell down onto the couch, finally throwing aside his sunglasses as he stared up at the ceiling. Still, the kids had a good life. They were happy. They smiled more than they didn’t, and they wanted for nothing. Suguru’s eyes had lost the haunted, empty glaze.

He smiled as his eyes finally drifted shut. Even Satoru Gojo had found happiness and had stopped faking his smiles, his bravado.

As he finally drifted back to consciousness he wondered when it had gotten so hot. He was sweating out of his clothes, and what was that weight on his chest? His eyes flew open, arms moving to guard himself. He looked down. It was just Suguru. His body relaxed immediately at the sight of his sleeping fiance. He blinked as he realized the kids were also scattered around them. How long had he been asleep? Suguru’s eyes blinked open not long after that and he looked up at Satoru.

“I waited up for you, but when the kids settled down it was impossible to stay awake.” His voice was gravelly from sleep, and it was Satoru’s favorite sound. He wanted Suguru to keep talking, keep saying everything he wanted to hear.

Instead, he leaned down to press a kiss to his fiance’s forehead. Suguru scrunched up his face at that, his lips forming a pout. The kids slept on, but that didn’t stop Satoru from pulling Suguru up until their lips were inches away. He breathed out, “Did you miss me, Suguru?” Suguru scoffed then, pushing Satoru’s face away with a halfhearted shove.

   “You’re an insufferable asshole.”

“You’re the one who wants to marry me! If I’m an insufferable asshole and you agreed to marry me, then what does that make you?”

Suguru laughed, poking his cheek. His answering question was lighthearted. “The one guy out there in the universe stupid enough to fall in love with Satoru Gojo?” Still, a pang went through Satoru’s heart. Right. Not a lot of people understood Satoru Gojo enough to love him, and not a lot of people tried. Suguru was the only one who had ever looked past the mask. Only Suguru’s power could match his own. Was he lonely? Did Suguru miss the life he could have had if Satoru hadn’t come along? Would he be happier?

Suguru frowned, reaching up to pinch his cheeks harshly. “I can tell what you’re thinking, and you better stop it right now. I wouldn’t trade this life for anything, Satoru. I love you more than I have ever loved another soul. You are a good man, and you are a good father. I was born to love you, Satoru Gojo, so don’t you go and make this depressing.”

Megumi popped open a single blue eye. “You’re going to wake the girls. Can you guys stop being so gross?”

Satoru looks over at him, a grin spreading across his lips. “You know, it’s rude to speak to your elders that way, little Megumi. What would your teachers at school think of such unsightly behavior?” The dark haired boy opened both eyes, irritation rising within them quickly. Satoru hated to admit he loved riling the kid up. He was just so much fun to play with, who could blame him! Suguru watched silently, waiting to see Megumi’s next move.

The boy sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Tsumiki, who was huddled at his side, didn't even move. “Suguru says you act like a five year old, so am I really talking down to my elders?” Suguru’s shoulders shook with barely contained giggles.

Satoru huffed, reaching out to flick the young boy on the forehead. “I adopt you and take you and your sister into our apartment out of the goodness of my heart and this is how you repay me, kid?” Suguru isn’t able to contain his laugh this time. The girls startle awake at the sound that rings out through the otherwise silent room. He soothes all three of them, his face softening immediately. Satoru is struck by just how deeply he’s fallen for this man in front of him. He’s overwhelmed at the wave of peace that washes over him as his family giggles and bickers in front of him.

If you had ever asked Satoru Gojo if he was going to die alone he would have said yes. He would have laughed and thought it better that way. Now, as he looked down at Suguru he couldn’t fathom a life without him. He couldn’t fathom an apartment without children’s laughter ringing through the halls. He didn’t mind the blood on his hands if it meant it was all to protect what mattered most. How could he ever have thought differently?

He looked back fondly at those early highschool days where he and Suguru had skirted around their obvious attraction to each other. He was drawn to the dark haired sorcerer as a moth was to a flame. Except, Suguru’s fire didn’t hurt him. No, Suguru’s fire kept him warm, grounded, and safe. Suguru was looking up at him, one slender eyebrow cocked. The kids all slid off the couch and they watched Megumi lead the girls into the kitchen

He looked back at Suguru. Suguru’s eyes were already on him. He pulled him up, up, up until their lips crashed together. Kissing Suguru was the answer to the question he had been asking for all these years. Loving this battered, beautiful, passionate man was the only thing he ever wanted to do until he took his last breath.

Suguru licked into his mouth lazily and Satoru smiled against his lips. A single trail of saliva connected their lips as he pulled away. “Thank you for giving me this life, Suguru.”

Suguru scoffed, “would you stop being sappy so early in the morning? I was trying to make out with my fiance, couldn't you see that?” He pulled his face closer, their lips inches away. If Suguru wanted to be kissed, who was he to deny the man?

He kissed Suguru slowly, thoroughly. He tangled his fingers in that midnight black hair. He took the air from Suguru’s lungs. Even his Six Eyes couldn’t get enough of this sight. How could he have ever thought he’d be alone when Suguru Getou existed?
