"Then, because the tears that were pooling in his eyes were making his vision blurry, when he turned into a somewhat narrow side street in an effort to find something he could climb onto so the dogs wouldn’t catch him (his legs hurt from running and he was dizzy from hunger and Ah-Ying knew he couldn’t run for much longer and he knew that if the dogs caught him they would eat him too) the boy failed to notice a pair of seemingly young men walking down that street, and rammed into the legs shorter of the two with full force (the man didn’t even flinch, like he was an immovable boulder and somebody just threw a small pebble at him). Ah-Ying thought he was done for, dogs were about to sink their jaws into him and the man he bumped into would undoubtedly kick him for getting in his way too. He braced himself for the pain-

Summary

"I'll what?" Mydei asks.
"You'll—" Phainon's teeth are gritted. His breath comes in harsh pants. He takes a hit to the side, lands one to Mydei's face. "—Take me with you," he finishes. That's the moment when he falters, losing his balance after taking a knee to the gut, glaring furiously but not struggling when he finds himself pinned. His eyes, up close, are frightfully blue.
"You're smiling," he says.
Mydei smiles a little wider. "You'd be wise to assume I'm baring my teeth."

Summary
When the Infection ended without explanation, the Dreamers arose from their slumber, and the land of Hallownest began to drag itself back to life, Hornet knew there would be troubles yet to come. With most resources scarce, many of the surviving bugs left disabled by the disease, and the vast majority of agricultural infrastructure devastated, Hallownest may yet be undone: not by a higher being, but the mortal logistics of hunger. When scouts from Pharloom arrive and attempt to capture a Weaverling, Hornet sees an opportunity to turn what could be another disaster into a chance for Hallownest to recover.
Pharloom is, as always, starved for Silk. When the Grand Mother's wayward daughters are located, under the protection of a Wyrm, forcibly reclaiming them would be dangerous. Fortunately, Hallownest is willing to offer up its Weaver princess for marriage in exchange for supplies that can easily be spared. Accompanied only by her silent knight, such a creature will surely be vulnerable to the manipulations of Pharloom's court.

Summary
The East and The North have been liberated, and for awhile it was nothing but celebration for the two drifters. On top of these two locales being freed from their own corruption, Drifter and Guardian inched ever closer to their goal of unlocking the secrets of the central underground.. where they believe lies an answer for a cure to their shared illness. After spending a day off in The West, and finding and fixing the warp pad, they both return home.. both noticing Guardians increasingly deteriorating state. Sharing a dinner, and a much needed conversation.
