Work Text:

He didn’t know what made him do it. One minute he was arguing with Jiang Cheng over who had to mow the lawn when the got home, the next he was crossing the cafeteria and kissing Lan Wangji with in an inch of his life.

It wasn’t like he hadn’t thought about doing it before. Lan Wangji was by far the most beautiful human being he’d ever laid eyes on. It was unfair really, that he could look that good while the rest of them were dealing with acne and awkward growth spurts. The worst thing that had happened to him was having to get glasses, probably due to all his studying. Somehow glasses had just made him hotter, it was almost disappointing when he switched to contacts. It had taken Wei Wuxian a while to realize what he felt for his best friend was something more than friendship, let alone get the courage to act on it.

Yet here he was, breaking away from those pink pillowy lips. His heart pounding away in his chest. All his focus had been on the kiss, the way the lips felt on his. How there had been a moment of tension, before they started to respond. How just as he had gone to pull away, there had been a nip at his lower lip, tugging it as the kiss ended. He could feel the hands at his waist pulling him closer. How their bodies were pressed together, letting him feel a heart beating just as wildly as his own. His brain short circuited for a moment. He had just kissed Lan Wangji. More importantly, Lan Wangji had kissed him back.

The sound of a tray falling to the floor pushed his mind back into motion. His mind slowly put the events preceding the kiss together. How he’d been pulled from the argument with Jiang Cheng by the grating sound of Wen Chao’s voice. Purposely raised to draw as much attention as he could. Lan Wangji’s white clenched fists as Wen Chao outed him to the whole school. The furrow in his otherwise flawless pale skin as Wen Chao said insult after insult. The final one that had pushed Wei Wuxian into action ringing through his head.

“What guy in their right mind would want to fuck you, let alone date you?”

He turned his head, locking eyes onto the open mouthed form of Wen Chao.

“Fuck off and leave my boyfriend alone,” He spat, another action he seemed to perform without thinking. His arms curled around Lan Wangji protectively. “What?” He demanded of the entire room that was staring at them in stunned silence.

His words seemed to kick the cafeteria into motion, eyes quickly returning to the trays in front of them. Wen Chao was still staring at them stunned, but Wei Wuxian figured it was better than the alternative. He turned back to Lan Wangji.

“Are you okay?” He murmured. He got a small nod, the golden eyes trained solely on him. Wei Wuxian felt himself flush as his hand trailed down Lan Wangji’s arm to grab a hand. He tugged lightly on it as he started walking, feeling Lan Wangji follow him.

He felt the panic set into his system. What had he done? Lan Wangji was being outed as gay in front of the whole school and his first reaction was to kiss him? And then call him his boyfriend? He could have just decked Wen Chao. It would probably have been less embarrassing for Lan Wangji.

His heart was hammering in his chest for a different reason now. He didn’t want to lose Lan Wangji. He doubted a simple apology would cover this. He chewed his bottom lip, trying to think of anything that would do it. Set him up on a date? Between himself and Huaisang they had to know someone that was Lan Wangji’s type. Then again, he had called him his boyfriend. With that kind of reveal they’d have to stay together for a few weeks at least. Wei Wuxian would just have to be the best boyfriend on the planet until then. Plus whatever else he could do to make it up to him.

He threw open the first door that didn’t lead to a bathroom, a broom closet he’d learned was a great place to take a nap. He took a deep breath as he heard the door close behind him.

“Lan Zhan I am so so-”

The words were swallowed by a pair of lips crashing into his. They pressed at his, forceful and needy. A tongue slid into his mouth, taking advantage of his open mouth. Wei Wuxian clumsily tried to reciprocate. His hands grabbed the front of Lan Wangji’s shirt as he shifted his weight to the balls of his feet, countering the slight advantage in height Lan Wangji had over him. It allowed him to push his own tongue into Lan Wangji’s mouth.

He felt a hand splay across his lower back, aiding his efforts. He could help but let out a moan as the other hand gripped right under his ass. The hand gripped tighter, Wei Wuxian felt himself heat as he imagined the bruise that would form.

Both of their chests were heaving as they broke apart, but Lan Wangji’s lips continued to trail along Wei Wuxian’s jaw. Wei Wuxian let out a gasp as they slid to his neck, nipping at the skin. They moved again, nipping again lightly.

“Harder,” He gasped. He felt Lan Wangji pause, but only for a moment. He let out a moan as the teeth sank in. His body arched up into Lan Wangji’s. His hand released from the front of Lan Wangji’s shirt, sliding up into his hair to press him closer. Telling him to bite harder. He loosened his grip as he felt the teeth release. He felt his tongue running over the bite, before pressing a kiss to it.

“Boyfriend?” Lan Wangji murmured, his lips still hovering next to the skin. Feeling the breath ghost past the wet skin sent shivers down Wei Wuxian’s spine.

“I,” Wei Wuxian started. He tried finding his thought process through the heat that was burning through his body. The fact that Lan Wangji and he were pressed close together wasn’t helping his focus.  “Wen Chao was being an asshole, and I couldn’t just stand there.”

“So you kissed me?” Lan Wangji questioned softly. His face was hidden in Wei Wuxian’s neck. It was so nerve wracking being unable to look at his subtle facial reactions. Yes, he just practically sucked his face off but what if it was sucking his face off as a friend?

“I-” Wei Wuxian stammered. He felt his face flush. His fingers curled in the hair at the nape of Lan Wangji’s neck. “He said no one would want to date you.”   Lan Wangji pulled back, his golden eyes peering into Wei Wuxian’s.

“Was it just to prove him wrong?” He questioned. His eyes had a hint of vulnerability Wei Wuxian wasn’t used to seeing.

“Doesn’t have to be,” Wei Wuxian blushed. “I think you're great. I like you, I fancy you, I want to date you.” He started to babble.

“Like you,” Lan Wangji repeated as he leaned in to press a kiss to his lips. Succeeding in stopping Wei Wuxian’s babbling. “Fancy you,” He murmured as he parted ever so slightly, before pressing another kiss to his lips. “Want to date you.” He finished with a deeper kiss.

“And I’m very open to fucking,” Wei Wuxian grinned as they parted.

“Shameless,” Lan Wangji sent back. Despite his words, Wei Wuxian could feel a definite hardness pressed up against his hip.

“Well, I’m your shameless boyfriend now,” Wei Wuxian beamed back.
