Summary
It's not that he enjoys holding on for hours and hours. He can, yeah, he's cultivated the skill. You don't get through a single fucking shift in a hospital without having to learn to hold your piss. You're not getting a chance to duck out to the bathroom in the middle of a trauma when you're wrist-deep in someone's chest.
It's Robby who ruins it.

Summary
After attacking someone in the ED, the hospital administration has decided that Robby is too close to going feral from so staying unmated for so long. They give him a choice - retire, or register for the government mating database and be assigned an omega. Robby has spent his whole life suppressing his alpha instincts, and resents the ultimatum... but he can't bring himself to quit.
