Sonic awoke from soft kisses peppered all over his face. He smiled and let out a sleepy giggle, wrapping his arms around his husband’s shoulders.
“Happy birthday, baby…” Shadow said softly.
“Thank youuuu…” Sonic said sleepily.
Shadow wrapped his arms around his husband’s waist and pulled him closer, kissing his lips softly.
“Sleep well?”
“Mhm…!”
“That’s good because we have a busy schedule.”
“Oh really? What are we doing today?”
“Well, first it’s eat breakfast then we meet up with your parents and have a day out of whatever you wanna do. Later? Who knows. Maybe we can end the night just being together. Just you and me…” Shadow’s voice became low at the last part.
Sonic chuckled and playfully pushed him away. “Pervert~”
Shadow sat up, chuckling.
They then heard a clatter and a loud “Dangit!” coming from the kitchen.
“What on earth are those kids doing?” Shadow mumbled as the two got up from bed, Sonic slipping on a comfy robe and slippers.
The two walked into the kitchen, noticing a large bowl upside down on the ground. Pancake batter covered parts of the floor and two little hedgehogs stood next to it, also covered in batter.
The boy was a very very dark blue with lighter blue highlights that resembled Shadow’s. His spikes where the same shape as his also and his eyes where a bright blue.
The girl was a black hedgehog with very rare quills that curled and draped over her head like curly human hair. She had purple highlights on various quills and on the corners of her eyes. Her eyes where a dark purple.
“What happened?” Sonic asked, looking the two over in surprise.
“It was Miles’ fault!! He dropped the bowl!” The girl hedgehog said immediately.
“No way! Maria was distracting me and telling me how to mix the batter!” Miles yelled back, pointing a wooden spoon at her.
“Hey hey!” Sonic said, holding his hands up. “What did we say about yelling at each other?”
“Don’t do it…” Miles and Maria mumbled.
Sonic nodded with a smile before picking up a rag. “Let me help you guys—“
“No! This is supposed to be your special birthday breakfast…” Miles said with a pout.
Sonic felt his heart melt as he held his face gently and started cleaning it. Miles’ pout turned into a small scowl as the 10-year-old tried pushing him away.
“Daaaaad!” He whined.
“You’re fine! Besides, you know I can’t go a day without helping people.” Sonic said before kissing his son on the cheek.
“Especially when it’s his kid with pancake batter all over himself.” Shadow added.
“And me! He wasn’t being careful.” Maria crossed her arms.
“Maria—“ Shadow said, giving her a silent warning.
“I knowwww…” she whined.
“Let’s clean up and maybe we can meet grandma and grandpa early for breakfast.” Sonic said, going over to help Maria get clean.
Maria gasped and smiled. “We’re gonna see grandma and grandpa today!?”
“Of course! We see them a lot, Raya.”
“I know but I always like to see them!”
Sonic chuckled before giving her a kiss on the cheek. “They love seeing you too.”
“Okay, you two. Take a bath, get dressed. Dad and I will clean the rest.” Shadow said.
The twins looked at each other before zooming out of the room, leaving two glowing blue and purple lines. Sonic should’ve known that his kids would inherit his speed.
“Don’t break anything!” Shadow called out to them.
Sonic chuckled and shook his head. “They’re getting faster. Just like their papa!” He said proudly.
“Papa is such a stupid word.” Shadow chuckled.
“Hey, it’s cute! Maria calls my dad Papa Tommy”
“Okay okay. Whatever you say.”
Sonic shook his head with a smile before they started cleaning the kitchen.
After that, they got dressed and helped their kids get ready before they left the house to meet up with Tom and Maddie.
