It was early in the morning, early enough for the sunlight to light up the room, the birds outside were singing happily, the purple haired boy slowly opened his eyes, staring at the unusual place, wondering where he was for a second.
He looked at his hand with his silver ring on it "so it wasn't just a dream" he thought, with a soft and reassured smile on his face.
Indeed, his beloved boyfriend was sleeping right bedside him, his arms were all wrapped around Rui's waist, he could see his lover's hands, who is wearing a matching ring.
Rui and Tsukasa are engaged and they moved in together recently, Rui had a nostalgic smile by thinking about how they meet, 6 years ago, since then Rui has been the happiest, every single day spent with Tsukasa's company filled him with warmth and joy, he never thought he would find true happiness back then but his beloved star appeared in his life like miracle and accepted Rui for who he truly was, it's something that Rui will never ever forget, he keeps these memories close to his heart, the day Tsukasa asked him to join him and the day Tsukasa decided to confess his unexpected feelings towards his stage director are Rui's most precious memories.
The purple haired one turned around so he could see his boyfriend's adorable sleepy face that makes his heart melt every time, Rui was running a hand through Tsukasa's peach hair with such a bright smile while thinking about how lucky he was, depsite all the years Rui still don't realize that it's real sometimes, it feels like a dream and his biggest fear is to wake up from that dream, just by thinking about it Rui couldn't help but fearing that thought.
"Hmm" Tsukasa mumbled sleepily while rubbing his eyes. "Good morning Rui.."
Rui was starting at a sleepy Tsukasa, which was way too cute for the entire world, the fearful expression he had shown just a second ago already turned into a soft and gentle grin. "Good morning Tsukasa-kun, did you sleep well? ~"
"Well, of course, you are by my side how can I not?"
Tsukasa said with the most natural smile on his face while Rui was smiling even more wilder.
"Rui, you seemed a little down earlier, is everything okay? A nightmare, perhaps.. ?" Even with sleppy eyes Tsukasa has noticed that something was off in Rui's eyes
"Well it's just..."
Tsukasa stopped him "Don't tell me it's because you still think that you're dreaming or something like that...?"
Rui nodded "I'm sorry."
The blonde sighed. "It's fine. I know, sometimes it feels unreal but you're not dreaming at all, Rui!" he ruffled his worried boyfriend's hair and wrapped his arms around him "I'll always be by your side, Rui"
The taller one smiled sincerely, the atmosphere was peaceful, they stayed like this for a little while until Tsukasa decided to break the silence.
"Hey, Rui. Today is a special day, you know?"
"What do you mean? Did I forgot something...?" he replied, worried to have forgotten something important that might disappoint Tsukasa.
"No, don't worry you didn't! Actually I'm taking you somewhere today.."
"Ooh, is it a date..? ~" Rui replied with an amused tone.
"I don't know if you can really call this a date but.. I have a surprise for you!"
"A surprise for me? ~" his eyes were sparkling out of excitement.
"Indeed. Something.. you always wanted!"
Rui chuckled softly. "But Tsukasa-kun, I'm already with you!"
Taken by surprise Tsukasa could feel his cheeks growing a little red "Come on Rui, don't caught me off gard like this..."
"Hmm, I wonder what could it be? ~"
"You will discover it very soon, but first let's get ready, shall we?" Tsukasa gave him a bright smile, he seemed very excited to reveal his surprise for his beloved.
They both get out of bed in order to get ready, after he took a shower Tsukasa went in the kitchen to make breakfast while it was Rui's turn, it was almost their habit at some point, the purple haired always loved Tsukasa's cooking it fills him with happiness everytime, the blonde one always makes sure that everything is perfect so Rui was satisfied, yet Rui was always enjoying, even the smallest things, even more when it comes to Tsukasa, he just loves him so much.
After breakfast, they dressed up, Rui was always wearing some pretty casual clothes whenever him and Tsukasa were going out, when he was still in high school his pink haired friend was always the one helping him choosing his clothes for the occasion, now Rui got used to it, even though they still give him some advice from time to time.
"Are you ready, Rui?"
"I am. But I still don't know where are we going though"
"Just wait a little bit, you will love it for sure!" he gave him a confident smile before he took his boyfriend by the hand and went outside to go to the place he planned to take Rui today, the couple was walking happily under the peaceful weather of the spring afternoon until they arrived to their destination.
"We're finally arrived, Rui!" Tsukasa said loudly with a proud look on his face.
"Hmm" Rui was looking around him, he seemed completely lost.
Tsukasa pointed a building that looked like an animal shelter "Here!"
"An animal shelter..? Tsukasa-kun are you looking for a pet?"
Tsukasa nodded "Indeed. And you're going to choose one!"
Rui seemed confused for a while until he realized what the blonde was truly mean by that "Tsukasa-kun... does that mean..?" an excited yet peaceful smile was growing on Rui's face.
"It means that we're going to adopt a cat, Rui!" he smiled at him, his smile was so pure and bright, it was almost as if Rui has to cover his face so he wouldn't get blind
Rui's yellow eyes were wide opened as sparkly as ever "You aren't joking, are you?"
"Of course I'm not, I'm very serious!" he frowned a little "it's my surprise for you after all! You were always telling me how much you wanted a cat, since we moved in together recently and taht we're now comfortable I thought it was a good idea, an idea that would make you happy" he grinned softly.
Rui couldn't even find words to express how grateful and overjoyed he was at that very moment, he simply throwed himself into his boyfriend arms, Tsukasa was a bit surprised by the sudden hug, trying to not fall on the ground, but if it was to see the most precious expression Rui was making Tsukasa wouldn't mind falling just like he does every single day but for Rui. the blonde could tell, his surprise was a success.
Rui had such an adorable expression on his face, anyone could easily melt just by looking at it "Thank you.. Tsukasa-kun..!! it means so much to me I.."
The blond one laughed quietly realizing how lovable his lover could be sometimes "I know Rui, I'm glad, but thank me later, first let's look around!" he gave him a warm smile before they decided to enter into the animal
Tsukasa pointed a building that looked like an animal shelter.
After talking about their will to adopt a cat to the animal shelter manager, they went to see the cats that were in a little garden that looked like a small and cosy parc, there was about ten of them, Rui bent down carefuly to let the cats approach him, he was smiling but his smile seemed kind of bitter for some reason, of course, Tsukasa noticed. "Are you okay Rui..?"
"Oh sorry, I'm okay, it just make me a little sad when I think some of these cats are in this place because their old owners left them behind or abandoned them.."
Tsukasa went next to Rui and put his hand on Rui's shoulder in a reassuring way before replying while looking softly at the other cats "I know, people can cruel sometimes.." he stopped for a moment and continued with a softer tone "but, if those cats are here then maybe they have the chance to find a better place, a new loving family, we're going to adopt one and give them all the love they didn't receive before, we will be their new family!"
Rui's yellow eyes were shining as he was staring at Tsukasa who is like the sun, the warmth on his cheeks could tell, the blonde's precious words moved him and warmed his heart somehow it was kind of familiar to Rui because it reminded him his past but as Tsukasa said, Rui too was able to find someone's love, someone that never left him behind, someone that accecpted him. "You're right..!"
After a little moment, one of the cats was slowly but surely getting closer to the purple haired boy, Rui didn't want to scare him so he let the cat approach him by himself, after he felt a little more comfortable by Rui's human presence the cat started to rub against his leg which of course brought a warm smile on Rui's face, then the purple haired couldn't help but petting the adorable cat in a delicate and affective way, it was a bit too adorable for Tsukasa who was watching them getting along from a small distance, the blonde couldn't help but smile as well, feeling a warm and pleasant feeling in his chest.
"I think he likes you, Rui"
"Well, I think i like him too.."
Tsukasa and Rui were both smiling lovingly at each other, they could understant each other just by looking at the other's pair of eyes.
"Then it's decided!" the blonde replied cheerfully while getting up.
After that, Tsukasa went back talking to the manager, explaining him that the couple made their decision, Tsukasa made sure to sign and fill out all the papers and also buying the essentials for the cat, it took him some time but during that time the taller boy was playing happily with his new fluffy friend, Rui was truly the happiest in the world.
"I'm finally done!!" Tsukasa exclaimed "We can finally go back home now, Rui!" Tsukasa said, relieved.
"Fufu, indeed" he stopped himself "I can't thank you enough Tsukasa-kun, that was the most precious surprise ever..." he gave him a warm and soft look while carrying carefuly his new friend.
"You don't have to thank me, are you happy Rui?"
"I'm the happiest in the world!"
Tsukasa smiled to himself "Then it's all that matters to me!"
The two lovers walked back home, hand in hand but now with a new member of their familly, already ready to get all the affection in the world by his two loving owners.
