Summary
Ye Baiyi was completely gay, and seriously and lastingly in one-sided love with Changqing. In their early years, Changqing had felt overwhelmed by the knowledge, hated himself for using those feelings to his own advantage, resented the fact that Baiyi did sleep with other men while Changqing was travelling the world, and found their situation both clichéd and unfair. But he accepted that Baiyi was living the life he had chosen; Baiyi obviously wanted Changqing in his life on these terms, and he wasn’t pathetic for having what he wanted in the way he could get it. He had been teaching and publishing papers while Changqing was out there, putting his skills to good use for whoever would legally hire him. He could afford the apartment on his own now he was a tenured professor , but of course he wouldn’t kick Rong Changqing out. They were part of each other’s lives, no matter how different they were.
-- Rong Changqing is quite content with his life, travelling the world on consulting assignments while his best-friend-with-benefits waits for him at home. But when he returns this time, he finds a suspicious twink nicknamed Scorpion in Baiyi's bed and life, and needs to seriously reconsider his priorities.
