~~Story Begins~~

Izuku needed time to breathe and process everything that’s happened in the last month. He knows he should make an appointment to see Hound Dog, or maybe his Mama’s school therapist, maybe Ilda can recommend his therapist? Izuku knows he can talk to Ilda and Todoroki, Kami they were there for him when he found out that his mom had cancer - the mutated kind that they are still researching and have no cure for it yet.

He refuses to use his friends as a therapist. There was a knock at his door. “It’s unlocked, so please come in,” Izuku said as he sat up on his bed.

His door opened and Ilda and Todoroki came in and looked at Izuku. Ilda was holding onto a bouquet of chrysanthemums and he shut the door behind him.

“Ilda, Todoroki, hi! What’s going on?” Izuku asked. “What’s with the flowers?”

“They are for us to pay our respect to you,” Ilda said. “It is usually tradition to offer flowers up at a funeral.”

“I was also told money, so I stole my dad’s credit card to offer,” Todoroki said.

“That’s sweet, guys, but my mom’s funeral isn’t until tomorrow,” Izuku said with a chuckle.

“Oh, you misunderstand us,” Todoroki said. “It’s not for your mother’s funeral.”

“Huh? Who is it for then? All Might because of Sir Nighteye’s death?”

“No. It’s for you for your own funeral,” Ilda said.

“Wait? My funeral? I don’t plan on dying yet, even though I am reckless, but that’s a work in progress! I’m getting better,” Izuku said as he waved his arms around.

Ilda held back a laugh and Todoroki chuckled.

“Nothing can stop Aizawa-sensei from killing you once he finds out that -” Ilda said and held up one finger, “-you didn’t tell him about your mother’s health condition.”

“You didn’t tell him about mother’s passing,” Todoroki said as Ilda held up two fingers.

“You also didn’t tell him about how Sir Nighteye treated you prior to signing for your work study and at the beginning of the work study.”

Three fingers turned into four.

“Fukukado-san was in the process of adopting you with your mother’s consent while your mother fought cancer.”

Ilda laughed. “Todoroki, you know Auntie Joke will scold you if she finds out you are still calling her that,” he said. He raised up his fifth finger. “Sensei will bury you alive once he finds out that you call Auntie Joke, Mama Joke, and that you’re her personal analyst, Trickster.”

Izuku groaned as he laid back on his bed, covering his face with a pillow.

“Aizawa-sensei is going to kill me and then expel me,” Izuku said. “Please you two, take care of Emi for me, and Todoroki, you can have all of my All Might merchandise.”

Ilda sat the flowers down as he laughed. “Endeavour's face when he enters Todoroki’s room with All Might just staring at him.”

“Oh my Kami! I don’t think the fire sprinkler system in the house would be enough to save the house,” Izuku said laughing so hard that he was crying now.

Todoroki leaned against the wall with a smile. “I can just see Midoriya haunting my father for burning all of his All Might merch,” he said.

“I most certainly will,” Izuku said, sitting up and clutching the pillow to his chest.

Todoroki cleared his throat. “Today,” he said, “we are honoring the life of my first friend and best friend, Midoriya Izuku. I can spend all day talking about him, but I just have one thing to say. Then as I look straight at my father, meeting his gaze straight on and with a cocky smile, I say, ‘Thanks for all of the All Might merch. They will all become a family heirloom for ages to come.”

The three boys laughed, but Ilda continued on. “Todoroki is going to set up rules for his room. Rule one is that Endeavour cannot be within 15 kilometers of his room.”

“Rule two,” Izuku said. “Do not say Endeavour’s name anywhere near the All Might merch. It makes All Might scared.”

Todoroki started to laugh and Ilda had to grab onto his sides. The three boys didn’t hear the growl, but when an explosion made the door go flying into the room, Izuku dodged out of the way, his quirk activated and ready to fight, the good mood was successfully ruined.

“What the hell are you extras laughing so hard? Deku, why the hell are you still here? Your conference with the hobo started fifteen minutes ago,” Bakugou yelled.

Ilda and Todoroki glared at Bakugou while Izuku started to panic.

“Reason six of Aizawa-sensei is going to kill me,” Midoriya said. “I’m super late.”

“Don’t forget your bouquet and my dad’s card,” Todoroki said as he handed the card over to Midoriya while Ilda gave Midoriya the flowers.

Midoriya then sprinted out of the room using Full Cowling. Bakugou tsked, but then found his legs trapped in ice.

“Bakugou, I know you have a weird sense of showing that you care, but Auntie Joke asked us to distract Midoriya from his conference,” Ilda said.

“Shut up Four-Eyes,” Bakugou yelled. “The damn nerd shouldn’t even be laughing since Auntie’s funeral is tomorrow. He -”

Todoroki glared at him. “Midoriya needs to relax, Bakugou. Don’t act and talk like you know what he’s been doing or going through,” Todoroki said. “His mother died the night after he passed the Provisional License Exam, then because of being on house arrest, he had to get caught up on homework, notes, and start planning the funeral.”

“Just because your mother and Auntie Joke got the materials and locations lined up, doesn’t mean that Midoriya didn’t give them the lists, numbers, and prices.”

“Midoriya is the one who made all the final decisions,” Ilda said. “He’s mentally and emotionally exhausted. He would’ve burned out with the conference and everything that happened. You’re no longer the best friend who he tells everything to, that’s us now, Bakugou. So please, kindly back off from Midoriya.”

“You’re going to have to explain to Sensei as to why Midoriya doesn’t have a dorm room door anymore,” Todoroki said.

“Shut up, extras! No one cares!” Bakugou said with a growl.

~~Meanwhile~~

The Asui family was the fourth family that wanted to know more details about All Might’s retirement. Well, the mother really. The father was too busy on a business call with work, and his student was busy keeping her younger siblings in line.

“The point of this parent-teacher conference was to inform you of your daughter’s academic and heroic progress” Aizawa said in a snappy tone with a loud voiceknowing that the father’s phone call could hear him. “So, maybe instead of working in another scheduled meeting, you focus on your family. Instead of letting your oldest act like a mother while you worry about gossip, you see and listen to her. Tsu, please stay behind and we’ll talk, but the Asui family is dismissed.”

“You can’t -” the mother tried to say but Aizawa used his quirk.

“Your daughter was a vital member of a raid against a dangerous yakuza group and is a hero to a little seven year girl,” Aizawa said. “You’re acting like nothing has changed when your oldest daughter could use the support and encouragement from her family, to be like a teenager with her family. Now leave.”

Now, as Aizawa looks forward to meeting his Problem Child’s mother as he enjoys a cup of fresh coffee, Tsu’s words to him echo in his mind.

“Sensei, can you please be gentle with Midoriya? He believes you hate him, but you’re his favorite teacher and he’s been going through a lot recently,” Tsu said.

“Would you like to inform me of what I should be aware of that he decided not to tel me?” Aizawa asked.

“Nope. The Dekusquad will just call it a logical ruse, kero.”

He took a nice long drink of his coffee, when every instinct in his body started to tell him to run, that he’s in danger.

“Eraser! Long time no see!” a dangerous voice, an annoying voice, a voice that haunts his nightmares said from the classroom door.

His eyes widen as he almost spits out his coffee while turning his head to the door. There leaning against 1-A door frame was Fukukado Emi or - better known as Ms. Joke. She wasn’t wearing her hero costume, but instead she was dressed up in mostly black. Her green hair was still in its usual style minus the bandana, a slim black jacket was over a whirt shirt, and black pants.

“Ms. Joke, what are you doing here?” Aizawa said, staring at her.

The way her eyes sparkled and her mouth turned upwards into a smile let him know that he walked into one of her many jokes.

“Why, I’m here so we could talk about our son and how’s he’s doing,” she said as she walked in.

“Son? We don’t have a son. We aren’t together and when did you have a son?”

She spun the visitor chair around so she was sitting with her arms on the back of the chair. She laughed as she leaned over the chair and he leaned back.

“C’mon, Aizawa, this is a parent-teacher conference. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have a child in your class. So, how is our son doing?” she said.

“And which student is that because you are not on my list,” Aizawa said. “Midoriya’s mother, my green hair problem child, is -”

“Inko died the night of the Proversional Exam. Shortly after, she was able to check her phone to see Izuku’s license,” Fukukado interrupted. “It’s been stressful, but this is the last thing we have to do before we both can rest.” She leaned over and grabbed Midoriya’s file.

“Wait, what? Explain. Midoriya told me none of that.”

“The only people who knew were his main group of friends and then Bakugou,” Fukukado said. “The only reason why they know is because when he received the call, they were having a movie night. Bakugou learned from his mother who happens to be Inko’s best friend.”

Aizawa sighed. “This is a terrible joke. Can you explain where the punchline is?

The two adults looked at the door to the hallway when they heard skidding and saw Midoriya sliding past the door. Midoriya slightly shouted as he slid past, “I’m sorry I’m late. Please don’t expel me.”

“Why would -” Fukukado said.

Midoriya walked into the classroom looking sheepish. “Kacchan exploded my dorm room door off its hinges, told me I was late, and then said I left everything up to you and Auntie for my mother’s funeral and expenses.”

Midoriya looked over at Aizawa who was shocked, but was trying to bring back his neutral expression.

“Can I offer you the flowers and Endeavour's credit card that Ilda and Todoroki gave me for my funeral?” Midoriya said. “So, you know, you won’t kill or expel me?”

“Problem Child, no, I’m -” Aizawa said before sighing. “I’m not going to expel you. Just, why didn’t you tell us?”

“Oh! I was under house arrest and missed too much school already. I couldn’t keep falling behind my classmates.”

“Kid, you’re -”

“I’ll explain everything in more detail later, Aizawa,” Fukukado said. “As of now, I’m taking my little Trickster home and we are going to relax with a movie before we go to a funeral tomorrow.”

Aizawa watched them leave the classroom and sighed as he took in how tired they both seemed to be. How much had Problem Child hid from the staff because of such high expectations placed on his shoulders?

He took out his phone and sent a quick text to his husband. They had a funeral to go to tomorrow and a student to put on house arrest again. Midoriya or Fukukado have some explaining to do, but he has a feeling that Midoriya is hiding more than just his mother’s death and funeral.
