Author’s Note: I’ve made two stories for Mama Joke and her Trickster and this would be the third. I figured it would be a nice change of pace to see how the other heroes would react to Trickster giving out an analysis book. I also wanted to show Fukukako being a good mother figure. It’s going to be short.
~~Story Begins~~
Fukukako entered her apartment, she dropped her bag filled with school work to grade down by the door and took off her shoes. The smell of oyakodon filled the area and she smiled as she slipped on her house sandals and grabbed her bag to bring further inside the house.
“Izuku, I’m home,” Fukukako said and peeked her head into the kitchen. “I wasn’t expecting you to be home either. I thought you would still be at the U.A. dorms.”
“Welcome home Mama,” Izuku said as he turned around to face her with a smile. “I wanted to ask you something in private. It deals with me being Trickster.”
Her eyes narrowed at him when he turned back to focus on supper. “Is there a villain case you want to work on or something?” she said. “If so, the answer is no. You need a break from always working on cases that you find interesting. You’ll get burned out if you do and I know you admire All Might, but you can’t save everyone.”
Izuku laughed meekly and shook his head. “No, it’s nothing like that. It’s more of a project I want to work on, but it needs to get done in secret. It’s also something I would like your help with.”
Fukukako’s eyes narrowed more. “Izuku, that is not reassuring me.”
“Don’t worry, Mama,” Izuku said as he turned around. “It’s nothing dangerous. Supper is about done and I will explain the project while we eat.” Izuku smiled brightly at her. “I want to make an analysis book.”
“An analysis book? For who?”
“Hitoshi Shinsou. He’s got an amazing quirk called Brainwashing and he wants to be a hero. He’s currently in General Education, but Aizawa-sensei took him in as a personal student and his birthday is coming up.”
“So, you want to make an analysis book for Hitoshi but have it be from Trickster instead of from you personally?” Fukado said as she put her bag down on the table and walked over to start getting the dinnerware and table set up.
Izuku’s smile faded and he looked down.
“He doesn’t like me. I’ve tried to get him to talk to and introduce him to some of the Class 1-A so when he transfers in, he won’t be alone. He avoids me and he gives off that same vibe that Aizawa-sensei gives when I stay behind to ask him some questions. That I’m being a bother,” Izuku said.
She placed her hand on top of his head and ruffled his hair. “Is that why you started to text me questions about different assignments now?” she asked.
Izuku nodded his head. “I think it has something to do with how I was treated in middle school and I’m just imagining it, but it even takes me some energy and courage to text you the questions.”
“Did you want to make an appointment again? See if that might help?”
“If it won’t be too much of a hassle,” Izuku said.
She had Izuku turn to face her completely before pulling him into a hug. “You’re my little Trickster, you’re my son now, Izuku. Nothing will ever be too much of a hassle when it comes to you,” she said. “And if therapy doesn’t help and Aizawa still gives off that vibe, then I’ll give him a stern talking to, okay?”
Izuku nodded his head as he hugged her back. “Thanks, Mama. Now supper is done and I really can’t wait to tell you about the present I’m planning for Hitoshi,” Izuku said as some of his cheer came back.
~~July 1st~~
“Hey Dad, Pops,” Hitoshi said as he came over to their shared dorm holding onto a dark purple leather book. “Who placed this book on my desk in my dorm? It’s in code and everything, which I also received, but I’m just wondering. The book looks expensive.”
The two teachers looked at each other before looking back at their adopted son.
“What are you talking about?” Yamada said.
“We know nothing about a book. Our presents are still wrapped on the table waiting for you to open them,” Aizawa said.
Hitoshi rolled his eyes and showed them the book. The front cover had the word ‘Psyren’ engraved on the top, but in the middle was a theater comedy mask, a hand holding it up to a face that was only half covered.
“No one would buy me something this expensive,” Hitoshi said and blinked as Aizawa’s capture scarf wrapped around the book and snatched it from Hitoshi. “Hey!”
“Y-you said this was on your desk in your dorm?” Yamada said as he peered over Aizawa’s shoulder while looking over the key code and flipping through the book.
“Yeah. I figured it was you or Dad who got it for me since the code is in cat breeds and it’s all about my quirk and ways I can improve it, support items, it's all organized,” Hitoshi said.
“Do you know what this symbol here is?” Aizawa said, shutting the book and tapping the middle image.
“No?”
“That’s the Trickster’s signature,” Aizawa said. “Trickster is Ms. Joke’s personal analyst. No professional hero except for her knows who they are and they only work on cases that they find interesting or who she asks for help on. What you received here is something that no one has heard about, they have never done something like this before.”
He gave the book over to Yamada before walking to the front door. “I’ll be back. I’m giving her a call.”
“This is so amazing, Shinsou!” Yamada said. “We’ve all been asking Ms. Joke to allow us to meet the Trickster or to have them analyse our quirks so we can improve ourselves, but they absolutely refuse or she refuses us. So to see this means that maybe Trickster is finally coming out of their shell. That they see you as a true hero.”
“Wait, so you mean to tell me no one but Ms. Joke knows who this person is?” Hitoshi said.
“Absolutely no one. The only way we know an analysis comes from Trickster is when they have their signature, which is this,” Yamada said, pointing to the image that’s in the middle of the cover. “All of their analyses have been spot on and saved so many of our lives. This book should possibly be treated like a gospel and you must not tell anyone about this, okay? At least, not until it is confirmed that Trickster is indeed doing personal analysis now.”
Hitoshi nodded. “Hey, can I ask a different question? Has Dad been on edge lately?”
Yamada sighed. “We were hoping you wouldn’t notice, but yes, he has. Midoriya hasn’t been staying after lately to ask questions like he normally would. Shouta notices that he’s still struggling in some classes, but no longer asks questions,” he said. “It’s almost like he’s afraid of us teachers again.”
Hitoshi frowned. “It’s Midoriya. He’s the golden child and had his life served to him on a platter. Why would he be afraid of asking teachers for help?”
“Hitoshi, we talked about this,” Yamada said. “You need to stop letting your bias towards strong and flashy quirks tint your view on people. Midoriya may not have had the perfect childhood like you believe he had because of his quirk, besides he might have his own reasons.”
Yamada handed the book back to Hitoshi. “Now come on,” Yamada said. “Let’s go wake Eri up from her nap and head to the kitchen while we wait for Shouta to return.”
“Yeah, okay, Pops,” Hitoshi said.

“This is Ms. Joke,” Fukado said when her phone started to ring with the tone that was set for when other professional pro-heroes call her. The pro-heroes that she wouldn’t call close friends, anyway, the ones who she does call close friends have their own ringtone as well.
“The Trickster left my son an analysis book. A homemade, coded, handwritten, analysis book,” the voice of EraserHead said in greeting as Fukado tied her orange bandana around her head. “They got into U.A. and were able to place it on my son’s dorm room desk. How and why?”
“The how should be pretty obvious,” she said with a smile. “They opened the door to enter your son’s dorm room, walked in, and sat the book down on the desk. Seems very simple to me.”
“This isn’t a joke, Ms. Joke,” he growled.
“Oh come on, I’m the one with the joke in my name, not you, so I would know all about jokes,” she said laughing. “Anyway, the answer to the why is also pretty simple. Today is your son’s birthday, so it’s a birthday gift from my Trickster.”
“Ms. Joke, your Trickster has violated U.A. security protocols without making an alarm go off,” EraserHead said.
“The question you should be asking yourself,” Fukado said as she left her bedroom dressed in her hero outfit, “is if they really did violate your school’s security measures.”
She smiled gently as she saw Izuku curled up on the couch, his legs tucked under him, as he slept. She walked over and placed a blanket over his body.
“Are you saying that the Trickster is one of the staff members here?” EraserHead said. “If that was the case then they deserve all the praise for successfully hiding from Nedzu, but I doubt it.”
She ran her fingers through Izuku’s green hair as she hummed, eyeing the coffee table where pages filled with pre-quirk songs lyrics and titles rested, a yellow string keeping them in place. Notebooks were piled on top of each other in a corner, and leather, dyed in yellow, sat next to it. The failed leather pieces lay on the floor as the nearby trashcan was overfilled with string, half-filled paper, and broken pens.
“Open your mind some, EraserHead. For all you could possibly know is that Trickster is a student there.”
“This is no time for your jokes. The Trickster is a highly trained analyst who deserves some compensation. There is no way that with the level of their analysis that they are a student here at U.A.,” EraserHead said.
“Tell your son, happy birthday from me,” she said in reply with a laugh. “I have to go on patrol.”
She hung up her phone, ignoring the shout of EraserHead’s ‘wait’ as she sighed. She bent down and kissed Izuku on the forehead.
“I’m heading out, Izu, I’ll be back in the morning. I promise,” she said before leaving, letting her son sleep as she locked up.
She hopes that whenever Izuku’s confidence is strong enough to reveal himself, that she will be there to see EraserHead’s face when his finds out Trickster is his so-called Problem Child. That would be a picture and a moment for her joke book.
