Work Text:

"Okay, you're all caught up with your immunizations so now you're safe from the Aldeberan flu. Unfortunately," Bones grumbled, pulling Spock's sleeve back down. "You've got to wait here for 15 minutes in case you have a negative reaction to any of the-"

"Understood doctor," Spock cut him off as he pulled down his own sleeve which caused the doctor to grumble louder.

"Alright, ya green-blooded bastard. Just sit there and look pretty, can you do that?"

"I do not understand-"

"Course you don't," Bones turned to Jim who was sitting in a chair next to the biobed, holding Spock's hand. "You watch over him. This vaccine makes you tired and very weak, so just, ya know."

"Don't worry, Bones. He's in great hands," Jim winked and raised Spock's hand to his lips like a Victorian gentleman.

Spock sighed and looked away, but it was only to hide the slight blush that crossed his features.

"Y'all leave in 15 minutes, no less." Bones pointed a finger at them before leaving to tend to another patient.

15 minutes passed in a breeze and soon enough Jim was looping his arm around Spock's and they walked out of sickbay and down the hall.

"Wasn't so bad, right?" Jim grinned softly and he would've squeezed his arm if he knew it wasn't sore. "You should stop avoiding physicals with him, it's honestly not so bad."

"I am not entirely convinced that statement is valid coming from you, captain," Spock meant to tease but his voice was softer making Jim only think he was even more adorable instead of its intended effect.

As they walked down the corridor, slower than their usual pace, Spock found his feet dragging slightly. He couldn't get his limbs to cooperate. They seemed slightly heavier, almost as if they were weighing him down.

Suddenly, Spock's boot scraped against the floor and caused him to trip.

He would've fallen on his face if it weren't for Jim who caught him.

Jim was chuckling. "That medicine works fast."

Spock opened his mouth to make a comment about how it was an unevenness of the floor that caused him to be off-balance but he was cut off when Jim's arm moved under his knees and the other behind his back.

Spock did not often forget how easily Jim seemed to be able to pick him up, even though Vulcans were typically heavy. And yet, Jim could and it always made Spock blush thinking about being carried in Jim's arms.

"Jim, I am fairly capable of walking," He murmured, though it was only half-hearted.

"I know, sweetheart. I know," Jim kissed his forehead and smiled wider when he saw the deepening color of Spock's cheeks before Spock hid his face into Jim's chest.

The vaccination was working quickly as he was becoming tired for no apparent reason and suddenly Jim was walking into their quarters.

That was fast, Spock thought to himself, although perhaps it was simply because he drifted off for a few seconds.

Jim set his precious darling down on the bed, making sure he was comfortable before he went to remove his boots and socks.

Spock just watched him lazily as Jim continued to undress him until he was in nothing but his undershirt and boxers. Spock slowly climbed under the covers and pressed his face against the pillow which was so soft...so enchanting.

He murmured something when the weight in the bed shifted and he was pulled toward a warm body.

Spock smiled into Jim's bare chest, intertwining their legs and trying his hardest to stay awake.

"Sleep, Spock. Bones said you'd be tired."

"Not this tired," He protested in a grumbled whisper. In return, he got Jim's laughter which sounded like warm honey.

Still, Jim was right. He felt the pull of sleep like a magnet and his eyes were heavy. He was fighting to stay awake and look at Jim, whose hands had moved into his hair.

"You've been pretty exhausted all week, sweetheart. If anyone has a right to be tired, it's you."

"Perhaps, but-"

"No buts. Bones put us both on rest leave for the next two days, remember?"

"I do," Spock sighed glumly.

"C'mon, Spock, let yourself relax and rest. I promise all of this paperwork will be here when you wake up."

Spock adjusted himself in Jim's arms, purring softly at the sensation of Jim's hands gently combing through his hair. "I cannot say no to you, Jim. I will awake in 30 minutes and we will..."

Jim looked down to see the Vulcan's eyes were closed and his mouth slightly parted, fast asleep. He had to hold his breath to keep from giggling. The poor little sleepy guy couldn't even finish the sentence.

"Whatever you say, sweetheart," He whispered.

Jim pulled Spock closer and began to massage his back as well, kissing his hair every so often just to see the little upturn of Spock's lips in his sleep.

Notes:
