Daniel felt rage course through his veins as soon as the body made contact with the tile floor.
"What the actual fuck, Armand?" The blonde seethed, glaring daggers into his oh-so-innocent lover. The redhead who dropped the cold, lifeless body in front of his fledgling let out an impish giggle as he watched Daniel become unhinged. "A fucking dead body in our bathroom? "
"Isn't this what you asked for?" Armand questioned while batting his long, boyish eyelashes.
"What I asked for!" Armand felt heat rush to his cheeks as his fledgling tossed him into another room, one where there was no reeking body of a young boy who looked eerily like himself.
Armand made a fake attempt to placate his furious dark child.
"Yes, what you asked for ? Don't tell me now that you don't want it. I've made a great effort to get this one for you, Danny. It's a present."
A lightbulb went off inside the half-mad half-done-with-Armand's-shit mind of Daniel.
Of course his immortal lover had the audacity to bring something as horrific as a dead body into the house. What else could he have done? It irked Daniel's heart to understand. Why the utter hell would Armand go through with it, though? It was a disgusting joke.
"I fucking hate you sometimes," was the only worded response Armand's teasing wrong out of the human man.
Armand blinked too many times and let out a loud huff of anger.
"I give you a damn present and that's all you have to say to me?" Armand whispered with a dangerous edge to his tone. "I give you everything and you say you hate me?"
A part of Daniel's heart clenched as he turned around to face his lover. He could have sworn a blood tear was threatening to spill down his plump, slightly reddened cheeks. He's fed tonight, he thought, not knowing if Armand was creeping in around his mind or not.
"I-" Daniel lets out a few confused noises before taking in a deep breath. "That's not what I meant at all, babe."
"Don't you lie to me, Daniel." Armand furiously clung onto his sleeves in upset as he crossed his arms. "You asked me for a dead body, so I brought you one. Now you tell me you hate me. I said I would give you anything you wanted, now I'm being punished for it?"
"Okay, how the hell am I punishing you right now?" Daniel questioned, still slightly ticked off that there was a dead person lingering in his expensive bathroom. How was he supposed to shower now?
"I haven't struck you or kicked you out. I haven't left you. So what kind of punishment am I missing here?"
"You spit at me your vile words in an attempt to break my heart is what you do, my mortal lover, and you wound me so greatly when you do it!" Armand almost shrieked as tears ran down his face. "All I wanted was to make you happy and what I've done has upset you… Me being your loyal immortal slave is not enough for you, so I bring you my presents and now you say you hate me for it."
They stood there for a few minutes while Armand stilled the tears pouring down his cheeks.
These fights were always the same, always exposing an underlying issue Daniel couldn't erase: insecurity. Daniel was insecure in his status as a human with a vampire, and Armand was terrified that his love wouldn't be enough to keep Daniel with him.
Different words, excuses, and taunts. But it's the same, and they both know it.
"I don't hate you for the so-called present, babe," Daniel spoke, a hushed whispering, "I just hate that you brought that in the house."
"Then why would you say that?" Armand wiped the blood from his eyes, staining his jacket sleeves.
"Because I'm fucking stupid."
"Don't call yourself stupid, Danny!" Armand chastised. "You're nothing of the sorts!"
"I'm human, sweet thing, and humans can be the dumbest things that walk on this planet sometimes," Daniel rephrased. "Anyways, I didn't actually want you to bring me a dead guy. It was a joke. I thought you would get it. A disgusting joke."
"You wouldn't be the first human to-"
"I'm not a fucking necrophiliac, Armand. Disgusting. Fucking gross. Bleaching my ears to erase that. Bashing my head against the wall right now." Daniel let out an awkward laugh before taking a step towards his lover. "Sometimes you gotta deny me. Cause' if joking about fucking dead people while you watch is gonna bring bodies into the house, we'll have more issues."
"Forget it. I'll spoil you rotten like I always have," Armand dismissed.
" Babe ."
" Danny, " Armand shot back. "I mean it."
"Any last words?" A poor attempt at humor, Daniel supposed. "I love you, you lunatic."
"I love you too, you dumbass."
