Summary
Billy sighed, running a hand through his hair. “It’s like... I don’t know. Everything’s just... pointless. I mean, my mom’s gone, my dad’s a piece of shit, and no one cares. Not really.”
Lillian’s heart ached at the sadness in his voice. She wanted to reach out, to pull him into her arms and tell him that she cared, that she would always care. But something held her back. Maybe it was the distance between them, or maybe it was the fear that he would push her away again.
“I care,” she said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Billy didn’t respond right away. He just stood there, staring out at the street, his expression unreadable. Then, after what felt like an eternity, he turned to look at her, his eyes dark and intense.
“I know,” he said, his voice soft. “That’s the problem.”

Summary
Hannibal doesn’t cope well with rejection.
Will knows this, and perhaps he thinks it makes Hannibal demanding, entitled. That’s not it; Hannibal knows what’s for him and what isn’t, even if it takes his surroundings some time to catch up. Even if it takes Will time to catch up.
Will is for him. He acts like he doesn’t know this, as though their lives and existences aren’t wholly intertwined, as though they could survive separation. Will took them off that cliff together because he thought they were better off dead together than alive apart. Weeks of nursing each other’s wounds, whispered confessions and promises in the dark, and when the sun returned, so did the acerbic wit and distance and masks. They could never show each other their soft underbellies when they could also see each other’s faces. Only in the black of night, the cover of anonymity, as though they could pretend they were whispering to total strangers. Their confession booth. Praying only to each other, the closest either of them could ever get to God.
OR
Hannibal and Will are both fighting desperately to prove who belongs to whom, and they’re both winning.
