Work Text:
He ruined everything. As always.
Kyle had given out the Horde’s plans and the prisoners had fled. Lonnie and the others were really, truly not happy. In private, Lonnie and Rogelio followed him and insisted on asking how he managed to mess up so badly this time.
And Kyle dared to say the true reason.
“At least they care about their friends.”
Which obviously made everything worse.
Kyle treats his black eye with ice and nothing else, alone in his bed. No one wants to do anything with him, not even Rogelio, who usually helps with his wounds. Everyone manages to be more disappointed with him in a long time … maybe for good reason.
But Kyle can’t help but feel something deep, something… painful within his heart.
He’s genuinely… heartbroken, if that’s the word.
Kyle wanted to get out. He wanted to leave the Horde, because he doesn’t belong here. Adora had left for a reason, and maybe it’s not the same as his, but she went all the way back there to save her new friends, the princesses. In fact, Kyle had watched Adora crying from where she had been hanging onto, as she’d watched the Horde leaving with Princess Glimmer and Bow.
Bow…
Kyle had never met such a sweet, even handsome guy. Had never had anyone talk to him.
But truth be told, Bow hadn’t been interested in what Kyle had to say.
Again, maybe it’s because Kyle is from the Horde. But is it bad of him to say that he really tried this time? He really wanted to make it up for kidnapping Adora’s friends. He wanted to be free and make actual friendships, like Adora did.
But maybe Kyle doesn’t deserve it, after all. Bow, Adora… None of them wanted him along. They used him.
He hates that he’s hurt by that.
Kyle should’ve known better.
He’s never getting out of here. He’ll always be pushed around and isolated and insulted. He’ll always be blamed for everything. He will never save someone, and he will never be saved.
Kyle cowers in his bed, the same way he does after every training session, every breakfast, lunch and dinner. He will never leave this place.
He cries until he falls asleep.
