Work Text:
In one of Peter's classes their teacher is pretty relaxed and doesn't care if they have snacks. Ned offers Peter some mint chocolate which he accepts. After only minutes he begins to feel incredibly sick and dizzy. He attempts to get up to go to the bathroom, but collapses when he attempts to stand, something Flash laughs at him for. Peter tries to get up but can't so Ned helps him back onto his seat, giving up on trying to leave.
"Peter what's wrong?" Ned asks as he helps hold Peter up so he doesn't fall off his stool. Peter shrugged before retching, about to throw up.
"We should get the nurse." The teacher said.
"No. Tony. I want Tony." Peter slurred, barely forming the words properly. Ned took Peter's phone and called Tony. The teacher was also trying to help Peter, bringing over the bin for if he threw up at a loss of what to do, which he did throw up as soon as the bin got near him. He was fine until moments ago.
"Hey kid aren't you meant to be in class right now?" Tony asked, confused why Peter would be phoning him in the middle of a school day.
"Mr Stark its Ned, you need to get here. Somethings wrong with Peter, he's really ill and he asked for you." Ned blurted put frantically, he definitely would have been star struck if he wasn't so worried about Peter. Tony hung up the phone and got into his suit, figuring it would be quicker than driving. Both he and Ned were hugely concerned, as far as the were aware Peter couldn't get ill since the Spider bite.
"Really Ned, using this to lie about his fake internship?. You're both pathetic." Flash scoffed because according to Flash everything Peter said or did was a lie for attention.
"Eugene shut the hell up and get to the back of the classroom." The teacher snapped having no time for Flash. He complied begrudgingly. Ned shot him a victorious smirk before turning his attention back to Peter who appeared to be getting worse and was barely conscious at this point.
Only moments later a worried looking Tony Stark burst into the room and went straight over to Peter. Everyone's jaws hit the floor when they saw Tony and also how concerned he was for Peter. His usual casual and controlled demeanor was gone, he looked hugely worried for Peter. He didn't really care about what anyone thought, he only cared about Peter.
"Hey Underoos, what wrong?" Tony asked softly, running a hand through Peter's hair. Peter tried to lift his head up to look at Tony but failed instantly.
Tony got FRIDAY to scan Peter to see what was wrong, he knew he wasn't going to get a word out of Peter with his condition and if he finds out what's wrong the med bay can better prepare for when they return.
"Peter appears to be having an adverse reaction to mint he ingested. It appears the aversion is something Peter was unaware of, a possible side effect of recent changes." FRIDAY stated, deliberately changing the last part as certain protocols forbade speaking about Peter's secret identity unless otherwise stated. That explanation made a lot of sense because spiders hate mint..
"So this is like food poisoning?" The teacher asks.
"Not quite the same, but perhaps similar." FRIDAY chimed in.
"Okay I'm taking Pete home, he'll be off for the next few days." Tony stated. The teacher nodded and stated that it was for the best.
Tony let his nano-teach suit form around him then gently picked up Peter, who instantly snuggled closer to Tony's chest.
"We'll be home soon kid. You'll be okay." Tony whispered reassuringly. FRIDAY has already sent an alert to the med bay to be ready for them.
"By the way, if any word of this gets out. I'll sue for everything you have and leave you with nothing." Tony threatened, somehow being intimidating despite the teenager cuddled into his chest.
As soon as they'd gone the class descended into chaos. The teacher quickly gave up trying to control them. Just how the hell did Peter get so close to Tony Stark?? Well at least they know the internship is real now. As soon as Tony got the chance all products that contained mint were banned from Stark Tower, he wasn't allowing anything if it made his kid ill.
