Chapter 1: Saut De Chat

Chapter Text

Sweat glistened down skin, the sun shining bright on bodies. The sound of scuffling shoes on dirt filled the playground. Panting every now and then.

“You almost got it Izu!” Cheered the bi-color haired boy as he balled his hands into fists and smiled. The green haired boy breathed heavily, catching his own breath.

“I could do better than that any day!” said the angry blonde beside them, puffing out his chest.

“But, Kaachan you’re not-”

“So what?! Just cause I don’t do ballet doesn’t mean I can’t be good at it!” exclaimed, his eyebrows furrowed with focus.

The two other boys backed away carefully as the blonde positioned himself for a running start. Izuku Midoriya, the green haired boy, could already tell how badly this was going to play out.

The blonde boy, Bakugou Katsuki, ran, suddenly leaping into the air in an attempt at positioning his legs into a split. The blonde yelped when his legs wouldn’t reach that high and he tumbled to the ground, his feet not catching his balance, sending him into the sand box.

Izuku and the other boy, Shouto Todoroki, winced at the failure. They giggled to themselves, Izuku wanting to point out how and why the blonde messed up.

The blonde huffed, standing up and readying himself to defend his poor excuse for a saut de chat.

“What a graceful leap, Katsuki.” said a teasing voice from behind the blonde.

Bakugou turned around to face his mom, and Izuku’s mom with an angry expression. The blonde woman, Mitsuki, ruffled her sons hair and the green haired woman, Inko, caressed her sons.

“I almost had it! Ask Deku!” he stomped his foot. Mitsuki laughed and looked towards the small green haired boy.

Izuku’s eyes widened at the attention. “I- yea! Kaachan was super duper close to getting the saut de chat!” he smiled nervously.

Todoroki shook his head. “What Izu meant was that he didn’t get the starting position correct.” he said, looking into Bakugou’s scarlet eyes.

Mitsuki laughed loudly as Inko chuckled quietly. Izuku panicked and pulled on his friend's tank top desperately.

“Why would you tell him?!” Izuku cried, punching Todoroki softly. The split haired boy shrugged, enjoying Bakugou's fuming ego. He couldn’t do anything with his mom around.

“You Deku!” Bakugou frowned. Mitsuki pushed his head, causing him to stumble.

“What’d I say about calling Izuku that?” she asked, giving Inko a look of apology and annoyance. Bakugou huffed.

“To not to..”

“That’s right to not to.” Mitsuki nodded.

“Kaachan..? I was thinking that maybe ballet isn’t your thing..” Izuku said quietly. Bakugou raised an eyebrow, seemingly offended.

“What’s that supposed to mean?!” he asked loudly. Izuku pushed his hands forward.

“No no not that way! I mean that there’s different kinds of dancing so maybe you’d be better for one of those?” Izuku said, wincing as Inko patted his shoulder.

Bakugou thought about it for a second, then quietly walked forward and grasped Izuku’s wrist. “Let’s go.” he said.

“To where?” Izuku asked, leaning his head to the side. Bakugou rolled his eyes.

“You’re gonna help me choose a kind of dancing for me to do! Duh!” he said, starting to walk to his home.

“But Shouto?” Izuku asked, looking back at their friend.

Bakugou stopped in remembrance. “You coming?” he asks, Shouto starts to follow, but is stopped by a hand on his shoulder.

“I’m sure he’d love to, but I need to take him home..” says a quiet but firm voice. They turn to see a white haired woman standing there, bags under her eyes.

“Rei! Hello, how are you?” Inko asks, pleased to see her other friend.

“Oh I’m doing fine, Enji just has some things to discuss with Shouto and the kids, so we must be getting back home.” she smiled warmly. Izuku always felt a pang in his heart, knowing that smiled didn’t reach her eyes.

Mitsuki placed a hand on her hip, “Did that dickhead lay a hand on you again?!” she asks with obvious murderous intent.

Rei shakes her head, quite obviously lying, but not wanting more trouble caused. Inko places a hand on her shoulder. “We can get him arrested, you know?” she says, Rei realizing where Izuku gets his caring eyes. She shakes her head once more.

“It’s..it’s going to be fine. Besides, if he went to prison, who's to say I could watch all the kids on my own?” she smiled guiltily.

Izuku takes a hold of Todoroki’s hand, squeezing Bakugou’s.

Mitsuki scoffed. “You wouldn’t be alone! I’d rather buy a big house for all of us to live in than let you stay with the disgusting excuse of a man!” she crossed her arms.

Inko nodded, “I agree. I want you to be safe, Rei.” she said, looking her in the eye.

“That sounds lovely but-”

“Great! Let’s get to looking!” Mitsuki says, smiling widely.

“But we can’t-…” Rei pauses, leaning in to whisper into Inko’s ear with her being closer.

Inko’s eyes widened, her turning to look at her friend. “You’re what?! Why?” she asks. Todoroki glanced at Izuku, tightening his grip when he saw the worry in his eyes.

“I’ll explain to you two ladies later, but for now he and Shouto must be getting back home. I have dinner cooked already.” she says, smiling sadly.

Inko and Mitsuki nodded. Todoroki’s hand slid out of Izuku’s and the two waved bye to each other.

The walk to the Bakugou’s was quiet, Mitsuki glancing at her friend everyone once in a while, the curiosity killing her.

Once they entered the house, Bakugou and Izuku were sent off to the blonde's room.

Mitsuki called for her husband, who entered the room quickly. Now Inko, Mitsuki and Masaru sat in silence until Inko spoke up.

“The Todoroki’s are moving away.” she said quickly.

The couple’s eyes widened and their first worry was the two boys upstairs who were currently deciding on Bakugou’s new dancing style.

“Did Rei tell you why?” Mitsuki asked, her voice filled with worry. Masaru placed a hand on her back. Inko shook her head.

“Not a thing. I have a feeling she won’t have time to tell us why, either.” the green haired woman sighed.

Masaru hummed. “Maybe it has something to do with Enji’s job?” he offered.

Inko nodded. “Could be…maybe.”

Mitsuki shook her head. “Definitely not. Enji’s a CEO. The Todoroki’s are rich! There’s no way there’s money issues. I have a feeling it’s something to do with Touya, Fuyumi, Natsuo or..Shouto..” she trails off.

The three adults know how serious Enji is about Todoroki about his career path. Somehow, Rei got Enji on board with the boys dancing.

Inko nodded. “Definitely something to do with Shouto.” she finalized, the couple nodding.

“Do we tell Izuku and Katsuki?” Masaru asked, visualizing the look of heartbreak on their faces. That’s the last expression he wants to see on their faces.

“No..we wait for tomorrow for when they leave.” Mitsuki says, imagining the same as her husband. She knew Inko was as well.

“Why wait?” Inko asked. Mitsuki sighed, looking over to a picture frame on the table beside the cough.

It was a photo of the three boys laying in a field of grass, a big smile on Izuku’s face, a slight smile on Todoroki’s, and a fake angry frown on her son's face. She adored the photo with all of her heart. Now she’d have to see the opposite of the big smile Izuku had.

“Shouto’s gonna wanna say goodbye right? Katsuki and Izuku need to learn it from them..”
