Excerpt from chapter 13:

Falling to the dirt, Thor caught himself before face planting. Thor pushed up and spun around while backing away. He needed to reassess, and try something different, or this would last all day.

Thor became brutal, not caring if he actually caused damage. The Vanir was making a fool of him, with his casual defense. It took another 20 minutes, but eventually, Thor pinned the other to the ground, belly down. Thor had his blade against the other’s neck, while straddling his back, and gripping his hair. Thor leaned down to growl in his ear.

“You will always lose, Vanir. Even if you HAD won this battle, I will always rule over you. It would be wise, to cultivate my mercy for your people, instead of my anger.”

The man below him only grinned. “Why do you think it is, that you won this battle, my liege?”

Thor blinked at him. Was he inferring that he let Thor win? To not stir up his anger? Thor growled and pressed the blade just enough to cut the skin.

The Vanir prince only grinned bigger. “Feeling a little frustrated, Aesir? Perhaps next time, we should use full abilities, and see how badly you can lose on a more realistic level. But for now, enjoy the win you’ve been gifted. Regale the tale of how you bested me in a match. Feed the false sense of superiority. But we both know the truth, do we not?”
