Chapter Text
Fundy lets out a laugh as he stares on ahead at the scene unfolding right before him a large grin stuck on his face seeing the pleading look Dream was giving him asking for help.
"Papa don't go! Don't leave us, please" Connor sobs unto his father's shoulder clutching tightly his black coat like a lifeline.
Yoghurt was also the same clinging onto Dream's leg like a koala preventing him from leaving through that door in fear of his papa never ever coming back again. His eyes watering each time Dream tries to gently pry him off.
Fundy could only do nothing more but stare and stare in amusement as his husband struggles to calm down their kids from throwing a tantrum.
'Fundy help me' Dream mouths towards his very amused husband who has been watching him struggle for the past 10 minutes now.
As much as he loves to stay and play with his kids all day long (believe me he does) he's almost late for his job and god knows how much he'll do anything to get out of another scolding session from his manager.
He is already insufferable enough with that cheeky loud voice of his sounding like a chipmunk who had swallowed helium and paired that with his arrogant attitude acting like he owns the whole establishment - Dream would literally eat dirt if it means he won't get to hear that voice shout at him again.
"Come on you guys Papa is almost late for his job. Don't worry I'll be back I promise" Dream tries to persuade his kids to stop them from crying again. He looks at the watch sitting snugly on his left wrist grumbling when he sees that he is 5 minutes away from being late.
"Really Papa? You won't leave us?" Yoghurt expressed in a sad tone rubbing his eyes with his balled hands while still dearly clutching onto Dream's pants just in case.
Fundy lets out a sigh as he steps forward to finally help his husband who seems to be on the verge of crying as well looking at their younger one shedding their heart out to him.
"It's alright you two. Papa will only be gone for a few hours he'll come back for sure" Fundy huffed out still obviously delighted watching Dream scramble to comfort Yoghurt.
Dream beams at that thankful and happy now that his husband decided to lend him a hand instead of stand there and watch him make a fool out of himself. Fundy gestures at him with open arms to take Connor off of him and Dream ever the caring and gentle father he is slowly hands Connor off to Fundy who takes him with the same gentleness and rocks him to quieten down his sobs shushing him to lull him back to sleep.
After making sure that Connor won't sob anymore, Dream bends down to Yoghurt's level to pry him off of his leg.
"Come on sky, Papa won't leave home anywhere. He is only going to his job to buy you more toys"
Yoghurt only shakes his head at that refusing to let go and instead clung tighter towards Dream completely encasing his whole left leg with his small hands.
"Yoghurt... Come here" Fundy calmly says as he kneels on the ground to rub Yoghurt's back to soothe down his bawling while balancing Connor in his hold who seems to be dozing off clearly still in need of sleep after waking up early to stop their father.
"But Papa will dissappear if Yoghurt let's go. Don't want Papa to go" Yoghurt exclaimed in a shakier voice stomping his foot on the ground in frustration.
Dream chuckles at that taking Yoghurt's clenched hands onto his palm and softly pries them apart so that they won't turn red any further. He locks their hands together and coos at the difference in size with his being a tad taller and completely encircling Yoghurt's hands in his hold.
"Come on cheer up, sky. Papa loves you too much to leave and besides I'll be fast you won't even notice I'm gone by the time I'm back" Dream reasoned.
He raises their joint hand and juts out their pinky lifting it up and down as a promise that he will come back. Yoghurt nods his head in understanding and lifts his pinky fingers to link them together as a sign that a promise between them has been made. Dream responds back with a smile and brings it up and down again before they finished it by saying "Pinky swear" together
"Papa promised to you that he will be back so don't cry now." Dream wipes away a few stray tears that were still falling from Yoghurt's chubby face and boops their noses together.
The gesture alone seems to calm Yoghurt down as he is now giggling in glee and shying away from the attention his father was giving him his cheeks turning into a lovely shade of red as Dream continues to boop their noses together. Fundy laughs at his son's adorable reaction pleased that Dream was able to settle down his kids before they throw a tantrum. He looks to Connor who ended up falling asleep a few minutes ago suckling his thumb as a pacifier his eyebrows still knitted together upset with the idea of Dream leaving but too tired to stay up to watch him go.
Speaking of watch, Fundy recalls back how much time had passed. When he notices that it was already way pass 9 he approaches Dream to warn him that he's late.
"You're late Dream better start running or you'll get another scolding." Fundy states as he takes Yoghurt's hand and backs away to watch him off.
Without missing a beat, Dream stares in horror as he checks the time to see that Fundy was right. After ensuring that Yoghurt won't cry again, Dream places a small kiss on each of their cheeks as a thank you and grabs his suit case and makes a dash towards the door shouting out a quick "take care" before he eventually dissapears off to his job. Fundy lets out a snicker once he was sure Dream was far away having fun at for sure another round of scolding his husband will get after he had promised not to be late again.
