Flarrie with I want to wake up next to you. Every morning.

Notes:

Work Text:

Flynn knew they had done the right thing coming back to LA. Julie needed their support, and if they’d left it up to the boys who knew how long Pasty Space Boy would have kept lying to Julie about what was going on. At least with Flynn and Carrie there, Julie had someone watching her back.

It didn’t make it easier on them to watch Julie’s heart break though. Flynn swore to herself that if that Martian every hurt her best friend again, he would enter a whole new world of hurt.

Carrie returned, shocking Flynn out of her contemplative state. “Babe? You okay?”

Flynn smiled and nodded. “I’m good. Come on, it’s late and we have to drive tomorrow.”

Carrie slid into the bed next to her girlfriend. During their trip to Vegas, Flynn had got used to the way Carrie fit in her arms, the way the two of them became one tangled being at night. At first it was difficult, because neither of them were used to sharing such a small space anymore. That familiarity had been lost when they outgrew piling onto one bed at sleepovers at the Molina house.

But this space… this space was new. It was exciting. It was a safe place for both of them to drop the tough girl façade they showed the rest of the world.

Carrie put her arm over Flynn’s side and they let their legs tangle together. Flynn’s breath raised the hair around Carrie’s face in gentle movements, and Flynn could feel Carrie’s heartbeat through her back.

“Do you think Julie is going to be okay?” Carrie whispered.

Flynn let out a soft sigh. “I don’t know. But I know we’ll be here no matter what.”

Carrie nodded, falling silent for a moment. Flynn thought she’d fallen asleep when the next confession came.

“I don’t ever want to lose you like that.”

Flynn tightened her arm around her girlfriend. “I promise I’ll never leave you to go back to a Martian colony after a road trip.”

Carrie let out a huff of amusement. “No, Flynn, I mean I don’t want to lose you. Full stop. I want… I want to wake up next to you every morning.”

Flynn’s arm tightened as her heart overflowed with tenderness. “I’m not going anywhere, Carebear. You’re stuck with me.”

And when they woke up to watch the dawn break, Flynn made sure Carrie knew it was only the first of many mornings together.
