Work Text:
Sara and Kate exchanged a look as Kara sat, happily chugging her third milkshake across from them; they were so losing this bet. They'd both been heavily flirting with Kara for the past half hour, and Kara was still none the wiser, completely oblivious to their attempts at seduction.
"Told you," came Alex's voice from the comms in their ears, "She's so goddamn oblivious."
Sara groaned quietly, deciding to switch tactics; she was not going to lose this bet if she had anything to say about it. They still had half an hour left to get Kara to agree to go on a date with them. They could totally pull that off in half an hour, or at least, Sara liked to think that, with the combined efforts of her and Kate, they could.
"Okay, you know what, Kar? You're hot, wanna bang?" she tried, because there was no fucking way Kara could miss something that blunt, right?
Beside her, Kate did a spit take, and she shot her a smug look. No way she doesn't get the hint now.
"Aww you're so nice, Sara!!" Kara exclaimed, finishing off her milkshake.
A chorus of laughter erupted in both of their ears, and if it weren't for Kara's super hearing, they would've told everyone who was listening to them from the Waverider to shut up through gritted teeth.
"Cap, at this point it's hopeless," Zari's voice rang out, "You asked her if she wanted to bang outright and she thought you were just being nice."
Sara was nothing if not determined, though, so she exchanged another look with Kate, giving a subtle nod to signal that they weren't giving up.
Half an hour came and went by fast, and with it, any chance of winning the bet they made. Laughter and teasing remarks were a constant, voices streaming in through their comms, and Sara and Kate were starting to think it was impossible to get Kara to realize that they were flirting with her.
"Wait," Nate's voice suddenly broke through, "Who gets the money that we all put into this bet? None of us won, because we all bet on either Sara or Kate, and neither of them were able to seduce Kara within an hour, so they lost…"
A round of "I don't know" s and "Good question" s came from the rest of the group on the Waverider, and while discussion broke out about who should get the money, Sara and Kate decided it was time to make their exit before everyone else had the chance to make fun of them any more for their failed attempts at seducing Kara Danvers.
The three of them were at the entrance of the café, saying goodbye, when Kate decided to make one final, desperate attempt.
"Well, bye, Kara," she said, throwing her hand up in a little wave, "We need to do this more often— going out with just the three of us."
"Sure! I'd love that!" Kara agreed excitedly.
"As a date?" Kate ventured.
"Yeah! I love friend dates!" Kara said, pulling out her phone, "I'll put it in my calendar right now. Does next week work for you guys?"
"Yeah, sure, Kar," Kate said, having accepted defeat, "C'mon Sara, we gotta go."
"Sure, let me just…" Sara trailed off as she took a step towards Kara, bringing her hands up to cup the Kryptonian's face. She placed a soft, brief kiss on her lips, lingering only a moment before pulling away and stepping back.
"Oh! A goodbye kiss?" Kara asked excitedly, "We must be really close friends!!"
Sara smiled tightly, nodding awkwardly as Kate dragged her in the direction of the Waverider.
Upon entering the bridge of the Waverider, they were met with more laughter and teasing comments.
"It's impossible ," Kate groaned.
"She's so fucking oblivious," Sara added, defeated.
"We told you guys it was hopeless," Lucy piped up, earning a nod from everyone in the room that knew Kara well.
"I fucking kissed her . On the lips ," Sara said emphatically, "And she said that we must be 'really good friends' ! How many friends does she give goodbye kisses to?!?"
"Lena, Alex, Sam," Lucy listed, counting on her fingers, "me, Cat but only on her cheek—"
"I'm sorry but did you just say 'me'?" Alex asked.
"No, I said Cat but only on her cheek," Lucy said, "Anyways— Nia, Winn and James occasionally, some random lady at a coffee shop."
At the shocked and confused looks on Sara and Kate's faces, Lucy added, "I'm pretty sure the coffee shop lady was just because Kara was rushing and wanted to thank her? I'm honestly not sure about that one."
"Oh my god," Sara said, laughing at the utter hilarity of the whole situation.
"So anyways," Lucy said, "Welcome to our ranks, group therapy is every Thursday at 5."
"So you are kissing Kara!" Alex exclaimed.
"Well, technically she's been kissing me ever since the first time, but whatever," Lucy corrected.
"So," Kate spoke up, "How do you get into this group?"
Lucy smirked. "It really isn't that hard, considering she kissed a coffee shop lady. Pretty much just kiss her first, and she'll just keep doing it after that."
"Okay," Kate nodded, "Okay. Cool."
"So… anyone can join this group, then?" Zari asked.
"Trying to get over your crush, huh?" Sara teased.
"Hey, I can think two people are hot at the same time," Zari said, "Besides, Kara is my friend, and these are friend kisses, keep up, Cap."
"You're all a bunch of disasters, holy shit," Jax said, nearly sobbing with laughter.
"You guys are a bunch of fucking idiots," Mick grunted, opening another beer.
"I've kissed more hot girls than you," Sara said, teasing but a little smug.
Mick glared. "I'm still a criminal and not above murder."
"I've died once already, and I'm still here, aren't I?"

A week later, Sara and Kate were on another 'friend date' with Kara, this time for drinks at The Hold Up, Kate's gay bar in Gotham. Sara and Kate had resigned themselves to the fact that any attempts at flirting would fly right over Kara's head, so they decided to just enjoy the night with Kara, one of the few times none of them had to worry about any superhero duties.
As the night came to an end and they were standing at the entrance, about to part ways, Kara pulled them both into a hug, lingering a moment longer than necessary before pulling back and speaking.
"This was nice," she said, "we should do this again sometime!"
"Yeah, of course, Kara," Sara smiled.
"I mean a date," Kara clarified, "Not as friends. Well, yes, as friends but also as more than that too—"
Sara and Kate's jaws dropped.
"Oh my god," Kate said.
"Holy shit—" Sara added.
"What?" Kara asked, adorably confused.
"Kara, we were flirting with you that whole time at that café last week," Sara said incredulously.
"You were!?" Kara exclaimed, shocked.
"Y- uhh, yes ," Kate confirmed, "Yes, we were."
"Really??"
"Kara, I asked if you wanted to bang," Sara said, "We were not being subtle."
"So… would that be a yes to more-than-friends?" Kara asked, eyes bright.
"
Yes!
" Sara and Kate exclaimed at the same time, rolling their eyes good-naturedly.
