Krypton needs the military protection of the largest empire in space to save them from the consequences of a policy of isolationism. A marriage alliance between Houses within each faction to ensure the treaty is respected is needed. Nobody really knows what to expect with the historic lack of relationship between the Alliance and Krypton. But the Dominators are arriving, and there's no time to delay.
