Chapter Text
For Chifuyu, school was nothing more than modern prison. He didn't really learn anything for life or even survival. Lessons robbed him nothing more than his precious free-time. And yet, here he was.
His classmates also made no significant contribution to surviving his dreary daily life behind these walls. They behaved partly in their development stage behind and had completely different interests like himself. While some of them actually made an effort to follow what the teachers were explaining, others just wanted to go home and never return.
Chifuyu didn't even want to think about the school cafeteria. The food itself was okay - but they didn't have peyoung yakisoba on their menu. Were the cooks suffering from a loss of taste?
The list of why he couldn't stand schools was endless.
His gaze turned towards the window. More specifically, to the dark clouds that covered the sky. He let out a heavy sigh.
This was going to be a long day.

His mood didn't improve at all after the horrible lessons were over. In the meantime, the rain had reached such proportions so that it was impossible to cross the schoolyard without an umbrella.
Some students watched the rainy spectacle on the window. Others, like him, crowded the school entrance. Most of them, unlike him, either went alone or with another person under an umbrella and left the building.
The cold crept into his limbs and Chifuyu sat at the top of the stairs. He turned his gaze to the sky. Because of the weather, he had to spend more time on this terrible place. There was actually nothing he liked here....
"Oi, Chifuyu."
All of a sudden, his heart was beating twice as fast - and not just because he seemed surprised by Baji's sudden appearance. He turned slowly in his direction and was immediately greeted with his typical grin. He liked it very much.
But it wasn't the only thing he liked about him.
"What are you doing here?" His question was justified, after all. Baji had already finished school some time ago.
"I came to pick you up, so I borrowed something from my classmate," he explained shortly after, presenting a dark umbrella in response.
Chifuyu was pretty sure that he had certainly not borrowed the umbrella, but had probably taken it by gentle force. Nevertheless, his joy outweighed the fact that Baji had picked him up especially so he wouldn't have to walk home in the rain.
And so he joined him under the umbrella and they walked together to the school gate. While Baji held the umbrella, Chifuyu stood close beside him. He could literally feel the warmth he was radiating, which left him with a warm feeling in his stomach.
The previous coldness had disappeared and the light drops touching his skin suddenly felt gentle. Silently, he squinted at Baji and watched him unobtrusively.
Maybe school really was kind of prison. But at least there was someone who overshadowed all the negative things and brought light into his dreary everyday life.
