It was just supposed to be a normal patrol of the local area, well that's how things like this usually happen. Aizawa decided he had enough dealing with children today and sent class 1-A to patrol around the town UA was currently sitting on.
Bakugou was teamed up with Kirishima. It was mostly boring. All that needed help was lifting boxes and helping lost kids find their parents. Bakugou thought it was useless and he should be training for real villains but he must admit it was a little fun finally being able to taste what an average hero does in a day.
It was still boring and Kirishima's constant shouting didn't help his growing headache plus lifting all that crap made his chest hurt and binder dig in. He really wanted to get home and sleep the rest of the day.
As he walked around mindlessly listening to shitty hair talk about nothing his mind started to wonder.. Tho the things inside his binder coursing him so much pain.
Although he didn't care if anyone knew he didn't want to be treated any differently, the only people in UA that currently knew were Aizawa, Recovery-girl, Deku and Dunce-face.
Aizawa, being his teacher, had to know this information for his own health, Recovery-girl, for similar reasons for Aizawa. Deku being childhood friends and Kaminari finding out halfway through the year.
The only reason Kaminari knew was, Bakugou forgot to lock the door and walked in on him changing out of gym uniform. Turns out other people also like using the disabled toilet to change.
Dunce-face was feeling particularly insecure about his lightning scars from the overuse of his quirk that day. That was an awkward conversation about being proud of scars and if anyone said anything to punch them in the face.
It resulted in Bakugou getting unwanted hugs and Kaminari coming out as bi. Now, Kaminari's recent obsession with shinsou and Jirou made so much more sense. Turns out the electric user has a thing for purple. Well except Mineta but then again he was one of Mineta’s only friends.
Kaminari did ask why he didn't just change in the boys changing room saying no one would judge but ended up just shrugging him off. In reality, Bakugou just didn't want anyone to feel uncomfortable. It wasn't very in character but he had a reason.
When he was younger and felt like he didn't fit into the whole ‘little girl’ role he was forced to play. His parents just thought he was a tomboy but as he got older he started to long for short hair and to look and be addressed like his best friend was but not exactly, he still wanted his dominant features like spiky blond hair and piercing red eyes but he just didn't want anything else. He also wanted the handsomes and boys to be addressed towards himself, not stupid Deku.
Turns out his parents let him cut his hair and wear baggier hoodies and shirts. Honestly, he always knew and Bakugou is pretty sure so did his parents and so help Deku was there through it the whole time even after Bakugou pushed him away he was always supporting him and was the first to call Bakugou ‘him’ not ‘her’.
That story was funny actually. Bakugou was 6 or 7 at the time so their bond was not broken, just frayed and their parents still thought they were the best of friends. A movie was playing while Bakugou was shouting at Deku about something he can't really remember when Deku accidentally mumbled something that was definitely supposed to be in Deku's head.
“Kacchan is so rude sometimes. He's always shouting at me” Deku suddenly Bakugou stopped mid-sentence and looked at the nerd. “What did you call me?” Bakugou almost whispered.
Deku seemed to realise as well, tensing up. “Um, ‘Kacchan’?” he tried to sound innocent but it came out as more of a squeak. “Not that” little Bakugou whispered this time. “Um, he?” Just as Deku said that ready to get into a defensive position, the blond smiled like he hasn't since before Deku was diagnosed as quirkless and the green boy relaxed.
“Thank you” Bakugou breathed and a single tear dropped down that he was sure to get rid of as soon as possible with aggressive swiping and pushing at his face and the two boys sat in silence as an all might movie played in the background one they've watched over and over again they were sure they could recite the words from memory.
A small thoughtful hum could be heard from Deku's side of the room as he laid back against the couch to make the illusion Bakugou had privacy without him actually leaving.
From then on Deku called Bakugou by his preferred pronouns which confused some of their classmates but the explosion-filled kid didn't care. He was just happy someone knew what he felt and he wasn't going crazy at a young age.
Plus some of the other kids picked up on it so it was a win-win.
The only exception was around his parents. It was obvious that you shouldn't call a kid something they were not and even if Bakugou was a boy wish he was Deku was thankfully wise while making the decision next time he called Bakugou a ‘she’ was in front of their parents it made Bakugou feel uneasy but it was mandatory if he wanted to keep it a secret for a little while.
In the end, when bakugou was around ten or eleven he decided to tell his parents by suddenly blurting it out one day in the middle of dinner, making his mother spray water all over her food and his dad choke on his meal mid-bite. Of Course, they were both very supportive but it was funny watching them fuss all over him and ask him for his pronouns and name.
So from there on Katsuki Bakugou was born. Well, he was always there just hiding. Bakugou decided to wear a binder his father got for him a week later and his mother was so happy she could take her son out shopping and get more fitting clothes like a suit and some as his mother put it, god-awful clothes, apparently she didn't like his fashion choice. They also got some pride merch that day as well and he got to learn about a whole bunch of people that were like him.
That mushy feeling in his chest didn't go away for a month. His mother assured him that it was completely normal and that was what happiness and contentment were apparently.
Gross.
He got his name changed permanently everywhere and his gender changed in documents as well. He started hormone blockers as soon as he could.
The treatment for kids like him was getting better as the years progressed. Bakugou was happy. That was until...
Bakugou got startled out of his thoughts by Kirishima aggressively pulling him away from a beam of light by his hero costume, which had a built-in binder that he could breathe easier in but the bad part about that binder was you could see his useless tits easier, and successfully winding him.
Noticing Bakugou patting his chest and coughing a few times Kirishima questioned “You good dude? Sorry that might have been a bit aggressive.” he laughed awkwardly and got into a fighting position. After a second Bakugou responded “m’fine shitty hair” he could practically hear the pout Kirishima made at the name but didn't protest. Right now wasn’t the time.
Bakugou got into a fighting position and went to check what that was. He peeked his head around the corner to see if whoever made that was still there. But all he saw was a small shadow and the bottom of some cloth. He notified his classmates and teacher over the compact radio in his ear and chased after the mysterious figure.
Finally, something was happening. He could hear Kirishima explaining the situation in his ear radio thing and behind him as he was following Bakugou. They skidded around the bend to see a little kid around four or five in the corner looking at themself like they were a monster. They reminded him of Eri, Deku had shown him a picture that was taken when she was still under Overhalls ‘care’.
Bakugou realised he wasn't equipped for this situation and called Kirishima over to sort out the situation better, as much as it pained him to say. Kirishima slowly crouched-walked up to the kid.
Bakugou for the life of him couldn't tell their gender. Although they might be non-binary. considering how little they were it was hard to tell. He thought it might be a part of their quirk but he couldn't be sure. They had dark purple hair and from what he could see emerald eyes. Their face had puppy fat on it and was round and small. They looked so scared. Bakugou felt bad he couldn't do anything but he might be ‘too scary’ as some people put it.
“he-”
Just as shitty hair began to speak they looked up and started to scream “ I’m sorry, I didn't mean to! please, don't take me away!” Bakugou and Kirishima were uncomfortable, to say the least. They soon realised neither were fit for this. Now they both were trying to calm them down when they started to panic even more but they put their hands out and subconsciously aimed for Kirishima.
Kirishima hardened in time but just as he did she swapped the stream of what seemed like sparkles from their hands to bakugou. now crying even harder than before.
He felt a small amount of heat in his chest. Bakugou felt as light as a cloud floating carelessly in the sky but his eyelids felt like weights. He felt his legs buckle from underneath him. As he laid on the floor he could hear the faint shouts from Kirishima and someone in his ear. A little while later of trying to stay awake another person's footsteps approaching before he passed out and fully closed his eyes. He wondered if he would wake up.
