Matthias Helvar Reveals The True Meaning Behind His New Album, Little Red Bird, Which Drops Tonight!
Matthias Helvar sat down with us the day before the release of his highly anticipated sophomore album, Little Red Bird. Helvar, despite only recently turning 24, is no stranger to success. After several years of writing and producing for different artists, Helvar finally released his own debut album, Trassel, at age 22; Trassel was deemed a commercial success and was accompanied with a sold out national tour. Based off released singles and visuals for Helvar's Little Red Bird, fans are expecting his next album to more than top that, and critics say that Little Red Bird is a groundbreaking pop album full of sultry hits such as "Beguiled," break-up bops such as "Ice Court," and heart-wrenching ballads such as "Nina (Little Red Bird, Don't Go)."
Helvar had much to say regarding his album, and that came as no surprise. Since the release of his first single off the album, "Ice Court," there has been much speculation as to who Helvar's upcoming album was written about.
When confronted on whether or not this particular album is about Helvar's ex, Nina Zenik, an up and coming movie star from Ravka, Helvar turned sheepish and shrugged his shoulders before confirming the world's suspicions.
"Were my naming conventions not obvious enough?" Helvar asked as he ducked his neck and his cheeks flushed bright red.
Ever since the release of Little Red Bird's tracklist two weeks ago, there has been much controversy regarding whether or not Helvar is truly moving on from his split with ex, Nina Zenik. There are some who insist that Helvar's rather obvious naming conventions are merely an attempt at garnering the public's attention prior to his album's drop, yet there are others who insist that Helvar truly is pining over his beloved Nina.
What sealed the deal for some was the appearance of a green-eyed brunette who looked suspiciously like Zenik in the music video for Helvar's first single, "Ice Court." This same model reprised her role in Helvar's next music video for "Beguiled," only confirming fans' theories that she represents Zenik in the cinematic universe Helvar's built for his album.
Regardless of Helvar's motivations behind the name of his album and tracklist, Little Red Bird is a certified hit already, and it hasn't even been released yet. Having broken several preorder records with two chart-topping hits already, Little Red Bird is projected to be the album of the week, and Helvar is certainly an artist to watch as time goes on.
With the release of Little Red Bird, Helvar has solidified his presence in mainstream music and is set to become a streaming powerhouse, if the current stream records for his first studio album, Trassel, are anything to go by.
At the end of our interview with Helvar, which will be released later this week, he said that he hopes his fans enjoy Little Red Bird and that he wishes Zenik nothing but the best.
