The Bet

Summary:

Dream has been in love with Techno for...a while. What happens when one day his friends get sick of his simpery and make a bet with him. Will he be able to ask Techno out by the end of the week or will he have to suffer the punishment of being a sad simp?

Notes:

Hello! Welcome to this new multi-chap fic I've been working on! I started writing this because I was bored and it spiraled from there! I hope you enjoy the chaos and attempts at humor in this!
Just a warning this does have swearing in it so if you don't like that please don't read!
The chapters are pre-written so they should be coming out either daily or every other day!

Chapter 1: Competitive People Make Bad Choices

Chapter Text

If you asked Dream how he got into this situation he’d say two things.

His friends are assholes.

And the universe hates him.

That is the only way he can explain how he is here, on the football field, in a bright lime green cheer uniform.

But he’s getting ahead of himself.

See it had been a peaceful day, birds chirping, the sun shining brightly, and Dream had actually managed to get nine hours of sleep last night! (A quest he thought impossible as a Junior).

So when lunchtime rolled around Dream felt like he was on cloud nine.

His mood even withstood his two best friends’ pointless bickering. And when they tried to drag him into another petty argument, he stayed positive and calmly rejected the offer to get involved.

Everything spiraled from there.

The first thing that cursed his happiness was when his eyes landed on a certain pinkette a few tables away.

The gorgeous, * violent coughing *, the person Dream was staring at looked to be being shouted at by a loud blonde child. Dream couldn’t help the lopsided smile that grew on his face as he watched the pinkette, Technoblade the most amazing, incredible, stunning man he had ever had the pleasure of laying his eyes on , stared deadpan as Tommy and Wilbur seemed to get into a screaming match.

Now usually seeing Technoblade was the highlight of his day. Sure he wouldn’t be able to focus very well for a few hours (and he was unresponsive for a whole day after Techno asked him a question) but it was always worth it. No, the problem was that tragically his friends had taken that moment to try and drag him into another argument. It only took one look at his face for Sapnap to start cackling and for George to start smirking.

“Whatcha looking at?” George asked, raising an eyebrow. Amusement was clear in his voice.

“Wha-huh?” Dream eloquently responded snapping out of his Techno-induced daze.

“Oh my god!” Sapnap exclaimed struggling to breathe from how hard he was laughing.

“Dream you’re making googly eyes across the cafeteria,” George stated, obviously trying to hold back his laughter.

“I am not!” Dream shouted, his face turning a vibrant shade of pink.

“Oh-Dude you should see your face!” Sapnap was gasping at this point.

Dream just groaned and put his head on the table.

“You should just go talk to him.” George finally let out a few chuckles.

Dream mumbled into the table.

“Pardon?” George questioned.

Dream lifted his head a sliver to send a glare in both of his friend’s directions.

“I said,” He started, lifting his head fully to look George in the eyes, “That he wouldn’t even talk to me if I tried.”

“You two talk like every week?” George asked confusedly.

“That’s different.” Dream did not pout when he said that. Whoever told you that is a liar and probably Sapnap.

“How so?”

“Because! We only talk to like challenge each other and stuff like that. Rival things.” Dream groaned as he dropped his head back onto the table, and put his arms around his head to block out the cruel world.

“I still don’t see how that makes sense.”
“George I don’t think he could have a conversation with Technoblade if his life depended on it.” Sapnap piped up from the side, his laughter finally ceasing.

“Really?”

“George, look at him. He’s hiding in his arms like a first-grader.” Sapnap deadpanned.

“Oh. Yeah, you have a point.” George conceded.

Now Dream would like to think he is intelligent (his grades can back that up). He also likes to think he knows when and when not to engage in pointless things. But he is but a man. A competitive man at that. So when his friends challenged his honor (they didn’t he’s just dramatic) he felt like he had to do something.

Dream suddenly straightened to his full sitting height, surprising his friends.

“I can totally talk to Techno whenever I want.” Dream stated competitiveness coursing through him.

George just raised a skeptical eyebrow but Sapnap narrowed his eyes with a smirk.

“You can’t.” Sapnap challenged.

Dream narrowed his eyes, “I can.”

“Cannot.”

“Can.”

“Cannot.”

“Can!” Dream stood up.

“Cannot!” Sapnap stood up.

“CAN!” Dream slammed his hands on the table.

“CANNOT!” Sapnap moved closer to Dream across the table.

“Both of you shut up and sit down everyone’s looking at us.” They both snapped back to reality at George’s command.

They both at least had the decency to look a little sheepish as they sat back down but that didn’t stop the competition now started.

After they settled back down the staring contest began. They were about 20 seconds in when George finally spoke up.

“Both of you are idiots. This is solving nothing.”

Neither dared to move. They couldn’t lose.

George just sighed and smacked both of their faces.

“Hey!”

“What hell man!” Two angry voices shouted in unison.

“Now are you two going to listen?” George asked, crossing his arms.

They both pouted but nodded nonetheless.

“Good. There has to be an easier way to find which one of you is right.”

They all sat in contemplative silence for a moment before Sapnap spoke.

“Why don’t we make a bet?”

The other two just stared at him.

“What kind of bet?” Dream inquired.

“To see if you can talk to Techno or not.” Sapnap clarified.

“What would the bet entail?” George questioned.

“If Dream can ask Techno to go out to ice cream with him before Friday I will babysit Drista for a whole day.”

“And if you win?”

A mischievous grin had spread across Sapnap’s face, “Dream has to go to Techno’s football game dressed as a cheerleader.”

Now if Dream had any self-preservation skills he would have backed out here. Taken the teasing and moved on with his life as a sad simp. But he is really competitive and there was no way he was going to let Sapnap win.

“Deal.”

“You two are idiots.”

“Shut up George.”

While his friends got into another fight Dream started making a plan.

Chapter 2: Tuesday

Summary:

Dream plans.
His friends enjoy his stupidness.

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Dream paced across his bedroom floor.

It was currently Monday which meant he had three days to plan a way to ask Techno out...to get ice cream. As friends. Totally.

It had to be perfect because he couldn’t afford to embarrass himself in front of his three-year crush (he still doesn’t know why Sapnap and George add so much emphasis to that).

Back to the plan! So far all he had was him going up to Techno and saying,

Hi Techno!

It was a start but...he needed a lot more than that.

But what more could he say?

Hey, Techno fun fact, I’ve been in love with you since freshman year and my simping has gotten so bad my friends dared me to ask you out to ice cream!

There was no way in hell he could say that!

Dream flopped onto his bed dejected. There was no way he was going to win this bet.

For a second he thought he could maybe just go up to Techno and talk to him. That thought was shut down quickly.

Maybe I’ll have better luck tomorrow. Dream thought hopefully.

———————————

He did not have better luck the next day. In fact, he had worse luck.

First, he almost missed the bus, then his math teacher gave a pop quiz (which wasn’t really a problem since he knew everything but it’s the thought that counts!), and finally, Sapnap (the bastard) informed Dream that the cheer squad would love for him to cheer with them (he just couldn’t do the stunts. Which he was very relieved about. Not that he was going to lose though!) he even showed Dream the custom lime green uniform he ordered.

So safe to say his day was going pretty terrible.

For his free period, he went into the library to try and get a headstart on his homework (he needed as much time as possible to figure out a way to ask out Techno). For some reason, though, the world seemed to be against him, and after 10 minutes of him peacefully working on his algebra homework he heard a throat clear above him.

He looked up from where he had been hunched over his work and stared directly at the one and only Technoblade in all his awkward glory. He was wearing a simple brown sweater with a white undershirt peeking out at the top and bottom, black skinny jeans, black combat boots, and his glasses perched on his nose bridge. His long pink hair was tied in a messy bun that was tipping over to one side of his head. One strap of his backpack was snug on his shoulder while the other sat still in the air.

Dream felt like he couldn’t breathe.

“Uh, is anyone sitting here?” Techno waved his hand towards the empty seat across from where Dream was sitting.

Dream let out a strangled noise mixed with a wheeze.

Techno gave him a concerned and apprehensive look.

“Uh-yes! No! No one is currently sitting. There.” Dream wanted to die. Crawl into a hole of despair and embarrassment and stay forever. He deserved it after whatever the heck that was.

“Are you...ok?” Techno questioned hesitantly.

“I-yeah no I’m fine,” Dream took a breath, steeling himself. He could do this. “That seats open if you want to sit there.” He tried his best to give a reassuring and friendly smile.

Techno still looked suspicious but dropped the subject and sat down.

Dream inwardly sighed in relief. Hopefully, Techno would just think he startled Dream and not that Dream has no social ability when it came to him.

To try and take his mind off the gorgeous man sitting in front of him, Dream went back to working on his homework.

For the next five minutes, Dream worked relentlessly on his homework. He even almost forgot Techno was sitting less than three feet away!

After finishing his algebra homework he leaned to the side to pull out his binder from his backpack. From above he heard what seemed to be a choking noise. Concerned, he straightened back up and looked at Techno, who was coughing into his hand aggressively.

“Are you ok?” Dream asked with genuine concern in his voice.

“Uh- yeah sorry something got caught in my throat.” Techno played it off and just went back to working on whatever paper he had out. What caught Dream’s attention though was how Techno’s ears were bright red.

Dream was still concerned but if Techno said he was fine he believed him.

After studying Techno for a few more seconds Dream realized he hadn’t grabbed what he needed. He leaned down again and shivered as he felt his skin exposed to the air. He looked over and saw that half of the shirt he was wearing had moved up when he had leaned over and half of his torso was on full display. He felt his face heat up as he grabbed his binder and straightened again, making sure to pull down his shirt.

“Dream?”

Dream hummed and looked up at Techno.

“I-can you help me with this?” The second the words left his mouth Techno looked away. Dream watched in amazement as a blush crept up his neck.

“What is it?” Dream asked leaning over the table to see what Techno was working on.

“Some geography homework. It’s not my strongest area of expertise.” Techno admitted.

“Yeah, it’s tricky,” Dream agreed, “I only got good at it because for a solid three months I hyper fixated on learning about different countries and where things are.” Dream joked.

Techno nodded, “I get that. Why do you think I know so many ancient quotes?”

“Touché.” Dream giggled.

Techno gave a small smile in return.

“Now what question were you having trouble with?”

—————————————

When Dream met up with his friends later that day he was beaming.

“Someone’s in a good mood,” George commented. “Did you win the bet?”

“Not yet. But I did spend thirty minutes in the library with Technoblade.” Dream practically squealed.

“You spent a whole thirty minutes with the dude and you didn’t ask him out?” Sapnap questioned incredulously.

“I can’t rush this!” Dream defended.

“Oh my god.” George rolled his eyes while chuckling.

“Dude there is no way I won’t win this.” Sapnap cackled.

“I had a whole conversation with him and there are still three days left!” Dream protested.

“What was your conversation about?” Sapnap raised an eyebrow at him.

“Homework…” Dream admitted looking down.

“Oh, I am definitely going to win this.” Sapnap laughed.

“Dream I love you but you need to do better,” George stated in a mockingly comforting voice while patting Dream’s forearm.

Dream just pouted.

Chapter 3: Wednesday

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Wednesday morning was terrible. Dream got four hours of sleep and had at least three tests scheduled for the day. At morning break he just sat down with his head in his arms and tried to get a little bit of sleep.

“What’s up with him?” Dream thought he recognized it as Wilbur’s voice.

“He’s stupid.” That was definitely Sapnap.

Dream grumbled from where he was trying to sleep.

“Is he dead?” Tommy’s loud voice came from somewhere to Dream’s right.

“Almost,” George responded.

“I would appreciate it if all of you could kindly fuck off.” Dream growled looking up slightly so his words weren’t muffled.

“Jeez, big man, no need to be so aggressive,” Tommy put up his hands in mock surrender.

“Here,” Tommy pushed an apple towards him “Eat this you’re not yourself when you’re hungry.”

Dream just glared as the child burst out laughing.

“I will tell Tubbo you’re the one who took his bee plush last Thursday.” Dream threatened darkly.

Tommy stopped laughing immediately.

“Woah Woah no need to do that Big D!” Tommy’s eyes were wide with fear. “We’re all friends here!”

“If you don’t leave in the next five seconds I will call Tubbo and tell him.” Dream narrowed his eyes as Tommy sprinted away.

A low whistle sounded to his left.

He turned and saw Wilbur smirking at him, George just rolling his eyes, and Sapnap playing on his phone.

“Way to scare the kid.” Wilbur quipped clearly having enjoyed his brother’s fear.

“I just want to sleep.” Dream sounded like he was close to tears and...he was.

He was so tired and now felt a little bit bad about how mean he was.

“Are you nerds bullying my rival right now?” A deep rumbling voice sounded from above where Dream had hidden his face in his arms again.

“No, he’s just stupid and didn’t sleep,” Sapnap commented sounding bored (he dealt with this a lot. Dream really does not have good self-preservation skills.).

“I was studying asshole.” Dream grumbled from his arm cage.

“Bruh. The tests aren’t going to be that hard. Why didn’t you just sleep?” Techno questioned sounding confused.

“I thought we were having a history test.” Dream heard Sapnap snicker and promptly sent a middle finger in his direction.

“Now if everyone could just not talk to me or better yet not talk. That would be great.” Dream started mumbling at the end as his eyes drooped closed.

The last thing he heard was a low rumbling from above him.

———————————

After Dream woke up from his nap in the cafeteria he felt a little discouraged in his quest to ask Techno out. He fell asleep right in front of the man for Christ’s sake! (It might not sound like a big deal but Dream was panicking!) But there was no way he would let Sapnap win, so he kept planning.

By lunchtime, he had a solid plan and knew what he had to do. The only question was if he had the nerve to actually do it.

Dream sat at his and his friend’s normal table and took two deep breaths.

George gave him a curious look but Dream didn’t have time to answer his questions. He had a bet to win.

He gathered all of his courage and stood from the table. Speed-walking over to Techno’s normal table he stopped at the left end of it when he saw what was happening.

Everyone was watching as Quackity got all into Techno’s personal space.

Techno looked as blank-faced as normal which rubbed Dream the wrong way.

Did Techno not care? Was Techno uncomfortable? Did Techno...like it?

The last thought made Dream’s breath catch in his throat. Maybe Dream was deluding himself by thinking he could ever have a chance. Maybe deep down Dream always knew Techno would never like him back.

Dream snapped from his spiral when he saw Quackity grab Techno’s hand. He quickly turned around and beelined straight for the exit.

Drama? In my cheerleader Dream fic? It’s more likely than you think.

Chapter 4: Thursday

Summary:

sad boi hours

Notes:

I just want to preface this chapter by saying Dream is dramatic AF in this. Like high school theater kid level.
With that warning out of the way enjoy!

Chapter Text

Thursday, like the rest of the week, was terrible. Though Dream can confidently say this was probably the worst day for him. His heart was in pieces and his mental health was in shambles. He dreamt about luscious pink hair and ruby eyes. When he woke up he was reminded that he would forever be alone and that those stunning eyes would never look at him the way he looked at them. (if he spent twenty minutes crying into his pillow that’s for him to know and no one else to ever find out).

After arriving at school Dream trudged to the first class of the day with his head hung low and his spirits lower.

By lunchtime, his friends were getting concerned.

“Dream?” George tentatively asked.

Dream just gave a pitiful noise in return.

“Are you ok?”

“Never better. Why do you ask?” Dream asked while hitting his head repeatedly on the lunch table.

“Because you’re acting a little...concerning.” George and Sapnap looked at each other worriedly when all Dream did was give a wet laugh and start hitting his head harder.

“Did something happen?” Sapnap asked worry and concern, lacing his words.

“Did something happen.” Dream parroted with a bitter laugh. “Yeah something happened.” Dream lifted his head to look at his friends.”I learned that love is an illusion and nothing has meaning.” Dream dropped his head back down on the table and didn’t move.

George and Sapnap shared another even more worried look.

“Did...did something happen with Technoblade?” George dared to ask first.

Dream tensed when George said his name.

“Do you want to tell us what happened?” George asked gently.

“What I want is to wallow in self-pity and never see the light of day again.” Dream deadpanned looking up. When he did his friends saw his eyes shining with unshed tears.

They both shared another look, this time more desperate and unsure.

Dream just sighed and dropped back down on the table.

“Is everything alright over here?” Of fucking course Wilbur has to come over when I’m dealing with heartbreak. Dream thought bitterly.

“Why does Dream look so...worse for wear.” Oh and Tommy’s here too! This is great, just splendid! What was everyone invited to my pity party?!

“Uh we’re...not really sure.” G eorge, you are Dream’s savior. He can not do social interaction right now. Please tell them to cease and desist.

“Dream?” Oh great now Wilbur is crouching next to Dream. This is a lovely day. George, please hurry with the cease and desist.

“Hmm?” Even wallowing in self-pity, Dream is not a dick, so he will not just ignore someone. Doesn’t mean he’s happy about it though!

“Can you tell me what happened?” Damn Wilbur and his sweet gentle voice! How dare he use his angelic accent against his own friend?! But Dream was stronger than a little sweet talk.

“no…” Ok maybe when he said the word it sounded more like a whimper than a word but he was going through a lot of things!

“Can you at least look at me?” Wilbur asked in a kind, low voice.

Dream turned his head slightly from where it was laying on the table and was greeted by Wilbur giving him a warm smile.

“Thank you. Now how are you feeling?”

“Like shit.” Dream mumbled. Wilbur burst out laughing.

“I can tell.”

“Sorry for bugging you. I’m fine. Just had an off day.” Was Dream lying through his teeth? Yes. Was he going to tell the brother of the man he had a crush on that he was heartbroken over said man? Absolutely not.

“Dream,” Wilbur’s voice turned serious suddenly. “I’ve seen your ‘off days’ and this is not one of them.”

Damn Wilbur and his observation skills!

“What’s goin’ on?” Oh. Oh no. Please tell Dream that is not who he thinks it is. Perhaps he misheard and the deep rumbling voice belonged to somebody else! Yeah, that is exactly what happened!

“Oh nothing, Techno, Dream’s just going through something.” Wilbur, why?! Why must you crush a man’s hope?! Do you enjoy Dream’s suffering?

“Is he ok?” And nope he can’t do this today. Not today bestie. He cannot deal with the person who broke his heart consoling him.

So Dream quickly straightened and stood up, surprising all of his friends, and practically sprinted to the exit of the cafeteria.

He somehow managed to avoid all of his friends for the rest of the day (and by that he means whenever he saw one he would run and hide). By the time he got home, he was ready to just collapse. All of the emotional stress he felt exhausted him and so when he got into his room he jumped onto his bed and promptly passed out.

Notes:

Sorry this chapter is super short I wanted to do one about Dream’s sadness but then there wasn’t anything I could add to the chapter without it either taking away from the rest of the chapter or changing the whole chapter entirely. Besides that I hope you enjoyed!
FYI! I am going to be on vacation for the next couple of days so until I get back there sadly won’t be any updates.
Have a lovely Day/Afternoon/Night <3

Chapter 5: Friday

Summary:

Dream is doing his best.

Notes:

Hello! I'm back from vacation and am here to gift you a new chapter.
Again I would like to point out I made Dream SO dramatic in this. So if you think a scene is really exaggerated it is! (Honestly, it was just really fun to write scenes as soap-operay as I could XD). Anyways enjoy Dream being a simp!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

The day had finally come. Friday. Sapnap had texted Dream late on Thursday that they could cancel the bet. Now, as much as Dream really didn’t want to continue. A bet is a bet. He couldn’t back out with only a day left!

Was he still heartbroken? Yes. Was he still competitive? Absolutely.

So putting aside his pain he walked into the library during his free period to make a new plan.

By lunchtime, Dream was ready. No matter what happened or what he saw he was going to ask Techno out. To ice cream. As...friends. Because that’s what they were. Just friends. ( were they even that?)

Dream shook his head to get rid of the sad thoughts and walked with purpose towards Techno’s table.

Thankfully Quackity was nowhere to be seen. The only people at the table were Wilbur, Tommy, Niki, Tubbo, Ranboo, Fundy, and of course Technoblade.

Niki noticed him first and gave a little wave. He waved back nervously and walked over to where Techno was sitting.

Techno wasn’t talking to anyone so Dream took that as an opportunity.

“Uh hey, Techno!” Dream greeted with fake cheerfulness.

Techno turned and looked at him in surprise, “Oh hallo Dream. Do you need something?”

Dream tried not to grimace at the question. He knew it was weird for him to be over there but Techno didn’t need to point it out! (He didn’t but Dream was nervous!)

“Actually yes I do.” Dream put on his most confident voice.

“Ok, what’s up?” Techno turned his body to face Dream while giving him a curious look.

Ok, you can do this. Dream thought while taking a deep breath.

“I was wondering if yo-”

“Blade! Ayeee man!” Dream’s question was cut off by the one and only Quackity.

Dream was seriously considering that he had somehow done something to upset the universe.

Dream could only watch in dismay as Quackity pushed past him and snuggled into Techno’s side.

Ok yeah, no Dream definitely did something to piss the universe off.

If Dream wasn’t having a moment he would’ve seen Techno awkwardly move away from Quackity. But alas he was suffering so he missed it.

“Uh, what did you want to ask Dream?” Techno asked distractedly, still trying to get away from Quackity.

“Oh um, forget it. It isn’t important.” Dream just wanted to leave now. He was already heartbroken from the day prior and now he had to see this? He needed to find out what he did to the universe asap.

“Um, bye Techno.” With that, he speed-walked back to his normal table.

When he got to the table he slumped down defeatedly.

“You good dude?” Sapnap questioned from across the table where he was sitting with George.

“Noooo,” Dream whined, “Not only is my love life doomed but now I’m going to lose this stupid bet.”

“We can call it off if you want.” Sapnap offered.

“Nah, a deal is a deal.” Even if my happiness is now ruined. Dream thought bitterly.

“Ok…” Sapnap still sounded skeptical but he didn’t push.

“What happened anyway?” George questioned from where he was sitting beside Sapnap.

“I-it’s not important.” Dream looked away dejectedly.

“Dream. You went out of your way to avoid us yesterday because you were so upset. It’s clearly important.” George pointed out.

“Yeah! If it’s important to you it’s important to us.” Sapnap added.

“Guysssss.” Dream cooed, eyes welling up with tears at his friend’s kindness.

“Don’t you dare cry. If you do then Sapnap will then everyone’s going to be wondering why you two are bawling your eyes out.” George threatened.

“But you guys are so sweet!” Dream exclaimed a tear falling down his cheek.

“Bro!” Sapnap sounded close to tears as well.

“No please I can’t do this again.” George’s pleas fell on deaf ears as tears started falling out of the other two’s eyes.

“Bro!”

“Bro!”

“Please stop.”

“I love you man!”

“No, I love you man!”

“I can’t do this again.”

“Come over here right now!” At Dream’s request, Sapnap all but threw himself to the other side of the table where they proceeded to cuddle and cry while George looked so done with them.

“You two are idiots.”

“Cmon Gogy you know you want to cuddle too.” Sapnap teased.

“I do not!” George’s face started turning red.

“Oh, Gogy!!” Dream cooed.

“No, I hate both of you and Dream still needs to tell us what’s wrong.”

“I think you’re just shy,” Sapnap said with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

George looked at him with pure fear.

“No. Don’t you dare.”

Sapnap leaped to the other side of the table.

George ran.

“C’mere Gogy!” Sapnap shouted.

“LEAVE ME ALONE!” George shrieked back.

Dream just laughed at his friends.

“Uh, your Dream right?” A soft voice asked to his left.

Dream turned and saw a girl standing there.

“Yeah, I am!” Dream turned and smiled at her.

“Oh good! I just wanted to explain what’s going to happen at the game tomorrow.”

“What do you mean?” Dream questioned, confused.

“Sapnap said you were joining the cheer team as an honorary member.” The girl explained.

“Oh yeah.” Dream sighed remembering the bet that had all but ruined his life (again it didn’t he is just very dramatic)

“Yeah! So we just wanted to tell you all you have to do is stand off to the side and shout. Here are all of the cheers we’re going to be doing so if you could learn those that would be great!” The girl smiled while handing him a piece of paper.

“Ok thanks. Is there anything else you need me to do?”

“Nope! Sapnap told us he got you a uniform so you’re covered!”

“Ok well, thanks for let-“ Dream froze.

Sapnap got him a uniform.

A bright. Lime green. Uniform.

Oh fuck.

“Uh sorry,” Dream coughed awkwardly when he realized he stopped talking and the girl was waiting. “But thanks for letting me do this.”

“Of course! It’s always great to have more help!”

“Hannah, are we still going to the track?” Another girl shouted from another table.

“Oh sorry I have to go! See you tomorrow!” The girl, Hannah, then ran back to who Dream supposed was her friend.

Great, now I’m heartbroken and am going to be embarrassed in front of the whole school. Dream thought forlornly. At least he was going out in style (the uniform Sapnap showed him looked pretty good).

Dream sighed and resigned himself to his fate.

At least he tried.

That’s what everyone said, right? Give it your best shot. Well, he did. It was not worth it.

Getting up from the lunch table, Dream started to walk the field on the other side of the school. (He had time, why not?)

On his way, he bumped into the three most chaotic people he had ever met.

“Dream!” Tubbo shouted, a wide smile on his face as he ran towards the older.

“Tubbo!” Dream yelled back, trying to match his enthusiasm.

Tubbo stopped in front of him and turned to look at his friends who were walking towards them.

“Hurry up!” He shouted.

“We’re coming!” Tommy yelled back with fake irritation.

“We’re three feet away from you bee,” Ranboo said, raising an eyebrow.

Tubbo just crossed his arms and turned back to Dream with a huff.

“What’s up boss man?”

“Nothing much Tubbs,” Dream grinned, as chaotic as the three could be, they could be a great way to take his mind off things.

“You’re not still weird right?” Of course, his happiness had to be ruined again. By Tommy no less! (He honestly should have expected that if anyone were to ruin his temporary happiness it would be him)

“I don’t think I know what you mean.” Dream said through gritted teeth.

“Y’know all depressed and shit,” Tommy stated like it was obvious.

“Tommy!” Tubbo scolded, hitting his friend’s arm.

“What! You didn’t see it, he was super weird and all angsty!” Tommy pretended to gag while explaining.

“You can’t just say that though!” Tubbo glared.

“So you’re doing better now Dream?” Bless Ranboo and his way of saving people from his friends.

“I-I’m doing fine.” Dream cringed internally at how unconvincing he sounded.

“Uh-huh.” Ranboo looked at him skeptically.

Dream squirmed under his gaze.

Ranboo stared.

Dream squirmed.

Ranboo stared.

Dream looked away.

Ranboo stared.

“What?” Dream burst out.

“Hmmm.” Ranboo just hummed looking at him appraisingly.

“Anyways, what are you up to?” Dream hastily changed the subject.

“Oh, we were just…” While Tubbo explained whatever crazy scheme the three had just pulled off (something about paint and messing with the art teacher?) Dream’s mind wandered back to Technoblade.

He still couldn’t believe Technoblade was with Quackity. Of all people. Dream couldn’t fathom a world where that made sense.

“And that’s why we are now banned from the art room.” Tubbo finished with a satisfied smirk.

“That’s great.” Dream responded absentmindedly, still trying to wrap his head around how Quackity managed to get with Technoblade.

“Really?” Ranboo questioned incredulously.

“Big D are you ok?” Tommy asked, giving Dream a skeptical look.

“Huh? Oh yeah, I’m fine.” Dream rubbed the back of his neck nervously, he very much was not ok and would really like to not discuss his issues.

“God your not going to get all depressed again, are you? Techno already freaked out enough yesterday. I do not want to deal with that again.” Tommy whined.

“No I’m-” Dream stopped. Technoblade was worried about him yesterday? “Techno was worried about me?” Dream really hoped he kept the excitement and hopefulness out of his voice.

“Duh!” Tommy rolled his eyes like it was obvious. “He doesn’t shut up about you! If I have to hear about him beating you in two races again I will disown him.” Tommy huffed.

“He barely won the second one!” Dream defended, definitely not still bitter about losing.

“Uh-huh,” Tommy rolled his eyes, “anyways you’re not sad right?”

“I-I need to go.” Dream then pushed past them and started making his way to the field.

Techno thinks about me. He couldn’t stop the lopsided smile that grew on his face at that thought. Techno thinks about me! If a giggle or squeal of happiness was made no one was around to witness it.

Chapter 6: The Pre-show

Notes:

I just want to state now that I have barely any knowledge of how football and cheerleading works. I've never done either so if parts don't make sense or the sport isn't correctly portrayed I'm so sorry I genuinely know nothing about them.

Chapter Text

All-day Dream had been freaking out. And it was only 1:00 pm!

“If you pace anymore you’ll put a hole in the floor,” George commented idly, looking at his phone while he laid on Dream’s bed.

Dream just glared as he continued his pacing.

“He’s just mad he lost.” Sapnap laughed from the couch on the wall next to the bed, where he too was on his phone.

“Fuck off that is not the reason at all and you know it.” Dream directed his glare to Sapnap.

Sapnap just stuck his tongue out.

“Real mature.” Dream muttered under his breath.

“Says the guy freaking out about his crush seeing him in a cheerleader outfit.” Sapnap countered in a sing-song voice.

“I am not freaking out about that! The whole school is going to see me!”

“Not true, all of the socially awkward people won’t be there.” George pointed out.

“OK but still! Most of the school is going to see me.” Dream snapped back.

“You’re taking this too seriously.” Sapnap rolled his eyes.

“How would you feel if the entire school saw you in a cheerleader outfit?” Dream asked.

“I’d feel hot.” Sapnap shrugged without missing a beat.

George snorted from the bed,” I wouldn’t get myself in that situation.”
“Ok fun police,” Dream narrowed his eyes at George and then turned to Sapnap and said,” And if you want to so bad how about you wear the outfit?”

“Nah you lost. I’m going to enjoy every second of this.”

“We’ve had to deal with you simping for too long, this is our payment.” George piped up.

Dream just went back to his pacing, glaring at the floor and questioning why he surrounds himself with people who like to see him suffer.

--------

“Come on, we're going to be late!” Sapnap shouted up the stairs.

“Give me a minute!” Dream shouted back.

It was four which meant they had two hours before the game started. Since Dream was...performing...they had to get there early.

“George is already in the car!” Sapnap yelled in an impatient voice.

“I’m here jeez.” Dream huffed running down the stairs.

“Finally, now come on, cheerleaders are scary when they’re angry.” Sapnap shuddered like he had personally experienced their wrath. (Dream doesn’t doubt he has).

“Fine. Race you to the car.” Dream ran as the words left his mouth.

“Hey!” Sapnap shouted in an offended voice.

By the time Sapnap was outside Dream was already sitting shotgun and smirking.

“You are a cheater,” Sapnap said, panting between each word.

“And you are sitting in the back.” Dream retorted, his smirk turned into a grin at Sapnap’s expression.

“Sapnap hurry up and get in the car. I refuse to listen to you two fight about this again. ” George orders knowing if he let them, they would fight forever.

“But I didn’t even do anything!” Sapnap whined as he climbed into the back seat. When he sat down he slumped with his arms crossed and a pout on his face.

“Aww is Sappy nappy sad?” Dream cooed in a baby voice mockingly.

“I will choke you.”

-----------

They arrived at the football field with ten minutes to spare.

“Have fun!” George sneered light-heartedly as Dream got out of the car and started heading for the field.

Dream didn’t look back and just flipped off his cackling friends.

When the other cheerleaders saw him they waved Dream over to where they were all stretching and hanging out.

“Hey Dream!” Hannah greeted with a smile.

“Hey.” Dream greeted back with a nervous smile.

“Did you have time to learn a few of the cheers?” Hannah asked.

“Yeah! But I might need to practice a bit more.”

“That’s totally fine! Since you aren’t doing any stunts you can chill on the grass and practice the cheers!” Hannah explained with a bright smile.

“Alright, ladies let’s get started. Hannah’s going to be leading the stretches today.” The coach announced.

“Oh ok, you can go anywhere on the field just try not to interrupt the football players!” Hannah hurriedly told him. “Make sure you know at least the first two cheers!” Hannah finished running to where the other cheerleaders were in a circle.

Dream looked around first for a place to put his bag before he headed out to look for a spot to sit down at. In his bag was his water, the paper with the cheers, and the cheerleader outfit (he refused to wear for longer than necessary.).

When he couldn’t find a spot he liked to put his stuff Dream decided to just keep his bag on him and look for a place to sit.

Since they were on the football field and there were bleachers around, Dream decided to sit on the lowest row on the bleachers closest to the cheerleaders.

After he got comfortable (as comfortable as you can be on metal bleachers) Dream got to work memorizing the cheers.

After about 20 minutes of Dream putting his sole focus on the paper in front of his face, Dream heard someone climb on the bleachers he was sitting on. Looking up he was met face to face with a sweaty Technoblade in his full football get-up.

Fuck. He’s hot. Was all that went through Dream’s mind looking at the pinkette who was towering over him.

“Hallo.” Techno greeted.

“Hey.” Dream cursed himself for how shaky his voice sounded.

“Anyone sitting here?” Techno asked, pointing to the spot next to Dream.

Dream looked around at the completely barren bleachers and then raised an eyebrow at Techno. “What do you think?”

“Hey, it's polite to ask.” Techno chuckled, holding his hands up placatingly.

Dream moved over so Techno (and all of his football gear) could fit.

“Aren’t you supposed to be warming up?” Dream questioned after they sat in silence for a few moments.

Techno hummed, “We’re on break.”

Dream nodded and stared at the cheerleaders.

“Like what you see?” Techno joked looking sideways at Dream.

“I don’t think I know what you mean.” Dream laughed turning and facing Techno.

“They’re attractive,” Techno stated.

“I mean...yeah?” Dream’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

Techno rolled his eyes,” It makes sense for you to stare.”

“Wha..?” Dream’s eyes widened, “Oh my god.” He burst out laughing, which turned into wheezing, all while Techno just sat confused.

“Techno! Oh my god!” Dream cackled.

“What?!” Techno’s voice raised to match Dream’s loud laughs.

“I’m gay dumbass!”

“Oh.” Techno stared dumbly at Dream with his mouth hanging open.

Dream just wheezed harder as Techno opened and closed his mouth like a fish.

He also found joy in the embarrassed blush that crept up Techno’s neck.

“I-I had no idea.” Techno eventually managed to say.

“I thought it was pretty obvious, what with the pride pins on my backpack and I don’t know the fact I’ve never dated a girl.” Dream pointed out.

“I just thought you didn’t want to!” Techno defended.

“You are so oblivious oh my god.” Dream laughed (he ignored the double meaning).

“I just don’t like to assume!” Techno’s neck was fully red at this point.

“Just admit you’re an idiot and can’t pick up social cues.” Dream gave Techno a flat look that quickly melted into a playful smile.

“That has nothing to do with this.” Techno huffed crossing his arms and turning away like a child.

Dream just giggled feeling warmth in his chest as he looked at the back of Techno’s head.

Techno turned his head back towards Dream slightly and Dream saw a smile peeking out behind a curtain of his hair.

“So you’re not into girls?” Techno asks carefully after he turned around and sat facing Dream again.

“That’s what being gay means.” Dream snarked back, a bright smile on his face.

“Pfff ok whatever. I thought we had moved past that Dream.”

“It happened thirty seconds ago.” Dream deadpanned.

“See all in the past.” Techno waved his hand dismissively.

“Whatever you say.” Dream chuckled.

“All right breaks over! If everyone isn’t over here in the next twenty seconds the whole group is doing five laps!” The football coach shouted.

“Well, I have to get back. See you around.” Techno gave a small wave accompanied by a small smile as he sprinted to where the football boys were meeting in one of the endzones.

Dream’s smile didn’t fade as he watched them started stretching.

That is until he remembered why he was at the football field, sitting on an uncomfortable metal seat being forced to humiliate himself in front of the whole school.

Shit.

Notes:

Heyyyyyy so it's been a while huh? *nervous chuckle* Yeah I got really busy IRL and I had no time to update this and then I decided I wanted to redo the ending so I rewrote the last few chapters! (because I'm an intelligent person). So I'm very sorry this hasn't been updating I'm still in the process of finishing the last chapter (and maybe one more I honestly don't know) and I am crazy busy this week. I do tennis and it's the week before tryouts so we're doing A LOT (my coaches have kindly called it "Hell Week" so that's fun). What I'm trying to say is I probably won't have the next chapter up for a bit. :( But I hope you enjoyed this one!
Anyways love you all I hope you have a great day/afternoon/night <3

Chapter Text

After sitting completely still for a few minutes Dream took a deep shuddering breath.

He’s a dumbass.

All it took was one look from Techno for him to forget that he was supposed to be heartbroken. And worse yet that he was supposed to be heartbroken over him!

Dream groaned and put his head in his hands, feeling the paper with all the cheers he forgot he was holding hit his face, mocking him at that point.

“Fuck.”

“That’s some pretty strong language.” An amused voice said behind Dream.

Dream whirled around and saw Wilbur sitting behind him on the bleachers.

“When did you get there?” Dream asked incredulously. He didn’t hear a thing.

“A bit ago.” Wilbur shrugged.

“Oookay.” Dream narrowed his eyes but didn’t say anything else.

“So what’s up with the grouchy attitude?” Wilbur questioned, changing the subject and moving to sit next to Dream.

“It’s nothing.” Dream grumbled, glaring at the paper of cheers in his lap.

“Sure,” Wilbur said, sounding completely unconvinced. “When you’re ready to explain what’s wrong with you I’m right here.”

They sat in silence for a few seconds.

“I just don’t understand.” Dream was still glaring at the paper as if it had the answers to his questions.

Wilbur gave a curious hum.

“I just- how could he like Quackity. Quackity . Like I’d get it if it was someone at least a little better. Don’t get me wrong Quackity is great but for him to be dating Techno? How? What does Techno see in him? What does he have that would possibly make Techno love him?” Dream’s shoulders slumped as he finished his rant.

When he turned he saw Wilbur giving him a bewildered look.

Dream shrank under the look, thinking Wilbur now thought he was crazy.

“Wha-Dream what?” Wilbur asked in shock.

“What does Techno see in Quackity?” Dream asked in a small voice over trying to deny that’s what he wanted to know. How did an idiot like Quackity get with the god that was Techno?

“Nothing,” Wilbur said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

“What?” Now it was Dream’s turn to be confused.

“Dream Techno has zero-no less than zero interest in Quackity,” Wilbur said.

“But I saw them at the lunch table.” Dream thought he had figured it out and now was completely lost.

“Yeah, Quackity does that to annoy Techno. He made a joke of trying to get Techno to date him.” Wilbur explained.

Dream sat there with his mouth open for a moment.

“I’m an idiot.” He managed to say through numb lips.

He had gone through the four (not five he never made it to acceptance) stages of grief in the past three days because Quackity was trying to annoy Techno?!

“Yeah, it seems you are.” Wilbur laughed.

“I need to talk to Techno.” Dream suddenly realized standing abruptly from the bleachers.

“Bye Wilbur, thanks for the help!” Dream yelled as he grabbed his stuff and ran off of the bleachers.

“Bye Dream.” Wilbur chuckled as he gave a small wave.

As Dream got to the field he heard his name be called.

“Dream!” He looked and saw Hannah waving him over to where she was with the other cheerleaders.

He looked back at where the football players (Techno) were doing drills longingly before turning around and running over to Hannah.

“Hey what’s up?” He asked, slightly out of breath from all the running he was doing.

“We’re about to get started, you should go change,” Hannah explained.

“Oh. Ok, I’ll be quick!” Dream said running, again, to the locker room near the field.

As he rushed to take off his clothes and put on the cheer outfit he came to terms with the fact that people would be seeing him in said cheer outfit.

He finished changing and put his clothes back in his bag and decided to just leave his bag in the locker room (in his locker of course).

He took a deep breath and walked out of the locker room.

------

After he found his way back to the cheerleaders who all either gave him a smile, a laugh, or a high five he felt pretty confident. As long as he didn’t think too hard about what he was wearing he would be fine.

------

Turns out, when faced with a large crowd of people doing double-takes and giving you side-eyes, it is quite hard to not think about why they are doing that.

Nonetheless, Dream didn’t let it phase him. He knew what he was agreeing to when he accepted Sapnap’s bet.

So every time someone looked back at him in surprise he would either look away or smile at them. The other cheerleaders were fantastic and didn’t act like anything was different.

About fifteen minutes before the JV game (the event was split into two games JV and Varsity) started Sapnap and George showed up.

“Damn looking, fine Dreamy boy.” Sapnap teased as he walked over to where Dream was standing with the rest of the cheerleaders.

Dream just scoffed and rolled his eyes with a smile. “Thanks, Sappy nappy but I’m not here for you.”

“Ohhh. I think that outfit gave him an attitude.” George joked with a smirk.

Dream snorted which made all three burst out laughing.

“It’s not too bad though is it?” Sapnap asked genuine concern creeping into his voice.

“It’s fine Sap.” Dream quickly squashed the concern. As much as he liked messing with his friends he would never make them think they did something wrong or make them concerned for no reason.

He’s a bad bitch, not an asshole.

“Has Techno seen you yet?” George questioned.

“No! I hope to avoid him the rest of the night. Thank you very much.” Dream glared, his face heating up slightly. He would die before he let Techno see him in a cheer outfit.

“Why not it’d be funny!” Sapnap laughed just thinking about it.

“Not for me.” Dream directed his glare to Sapnap’s face while he unconsciously pouted.

“Hey it’s at least a conversation starter,” George pointed out.

Dream was about to say that it was a terrible conversation starter when the cheer coach shouted,

“All right we’re going to the side field ladies and Dream!” She then started to walk away from where the cheerleaders had been hanging out.

“See guys later!” Dream waved as he ran to catch up with the other cheerleaders, leaving his friends standing there amused.

-------

As the cheerleaders were stretching Dream sat on the side making sure he had the cheers down.

The coach had told him he was just going to be shouting on the sidelines so if he didn’t know the cheers it was ok, but they were so nice to let him do this so he made sure to at least know a few of the cheers.

When he looked up he saw the varsity football guys coming towards the cheerleaders. Seeing as JV were playing first it made sense they were over on the spare field to stretch more but that doesn’t mean it didn’t freak Dream out! Techno was with the varsity guys!

To Dream’s utter dismay he spotted Techno, who also saw him. Techno smiled when he noticed Dream looking at him while Dream tried his best to shrink so Techno wouldn’t see what he was wearing.

Praying if he just ignored Techno he would go away. Dream tried to go back to looking at the cheers but of course, Dream never got what he wanted. So he wasn’t even surprised when a shadow cast over his cheer paper and when he looked up Technoblade stood in front of him.

“Heyyy Techno.” Dream cringed that his voice went a little higher than usual because of his discomfort.

“Hallo Dream.” Techno greeted amicably, “What are you doing over here?”

“Trying to memorize as many of these as I can.” Dream held the paper out a little with his right hand while he used his left to cover what he could of his outfit.

“Cheers? I didn’t know you were such a fanboy Dream.” Techno smirked.

Dream felt his face heat up as he stuttered out a retort, “I’m not!”

“Mhm says the guy learning cheers for my team.” Techno leaned over to Dream’s ear where he whispered, “You know you could just say you wanted me to win.”

Dream shivered and knew for a fact his face was bright red as Techno pulled back with a laugh.

“You-your an idiot! I’m only doing this because I lost a bet!”

“Oh?” Techno raised an eyebrow. “What bet did you lose?”

Dream froze.

“Just, you know, a stupid one with Sapnap.” He prayed Techno wouldn’t ask for details.

“Hmm well, what was the punishment? Just shouting a few cheers?” Dream could have cried in relief at the fact Techno didn’t ask more about the bet. Finally, the universe answered him.

He then realized what Techno said and cussed out the universe in his mind.

“Uh yeah, totally just that.” Dream chuckled nervously looking anywhere but at Techno.

“Ok?” Techno asked, sounding confused.

“Hahaha, so do you think you’re going to win?” Dream attempted to change the subject.

“Dream if you’re not comfortable telling me what the punishment was, you can just say so,” Techno told him.

Dream cursed how considerate he was.

“No, you were bound to see it anyways.” Dream sighed, resigning himself to his fate.

Techno made a confused noise as Dream stood up setting down his cheer paper.

Dream bit his lip nervously as Techno looked down and saw his outfit.

He watched as a blush crept from Techno’s neck to his ears and then moved to his cheeks.

“Techno?” Dream waved a hand in front of his face after he hadn’t moved for a minute.

Techno made a weird squeaky noise.

“Techno?” Dream was getting concerned at this point.

Techno just stood silently staring at Dream’s body with his mouth hanging open.

“Uh, Techno?” Dream bent down and peered up at Techno’s face.

His face was bright red (matching Dream’s own) and his eye were wide.

Dream smirked as an idea came into his head.

He closed his eyes and blew as hard as he could onto Techno’s face.

“Heh?!” Techno shouted moving backward-looking bewildered.

Dream just wheezed as Techno vigorously wiped his face with his hands.

“What the heck!” Techno huffed as he walked closer to Dream.

“Sorry, you got distracted checking me out.” Dream teased smirking. His joy rose as he saw Techno’s face get even redder than before.

“I was not checking you out!” Techno tried to defend, though even he knew it sounded weak. Especially seeing how he stood for at least a minute staring.

“Mhm, whatever you say.” Dream just rolled his eyes and smiled.

“Whatever,” Techno grumbled, “Why are you wearing that though?”

“I told you I lost a bet.” Dream sighed, not wanting to bring it up.

“No I get that but why didn’t you just wear one of the male cheerleader uniforms?”

Dream paused.

“There are male uniforms?” He questioned slowly.

“Yeah? You’ve never seen them?” Techno raised one of his eyebrows.

“I’m going to kill Sapnap.” Dream said with a maniacal smile. He was already planning how to kill Sapnap and maybe George too...but that pretty privilege...he’d think about it.

“And I’m going to thank him,” Techno whispered barely audible. It didn’t matter though, Dream was in his little murder world so he didn’t notice.

“Alright let's go! Varsity we’re doing drills get over here!” The football coach shouted, breaking Dream out of his...thoughts...that were definitely about legal things. Definitely.

“Oh, that’s me. See you later, Dream.” Techno rubbed the back of his neck looking back at the other football guys gathering around the coach. He didn’t move.

“Uh, bye Techno.” Dream said sheepishly, remembering that,

Hey! This man is attractive and talking to you!

Or as his friends have kindly dubbed “Simp mode”.

He added another reason to kill Sapnap to his list.

As Techno started to walk away Dream remembered he still didn’t tell Techno what he wanted to say!

“Wait Techno!” Dream ran to where Techno was walking and stopped. “Um meet me by the big tree in the parking lot after the game.” He then gave a smile and ran back to the grass where he had been sitting before Techno had come over.

He knew his face was still bright red and most of the cheerleaders, and a few of the football players were looking at him. But he didn’t care. He was going to finally tell Techno how he felt!

--------

After the cheerleaders went to cheer for the JV team (Dream didn’t join them he only had to go out for the varsity game) Sapnap and George came over to where Dream was chilling on the grass.

“So has he seen you yet?” George asked after he and Sapnap settled down in the grass next to Dream.

Dream felt his face heat up as he remembered the malfunctioning Techno.

“Uh- no not yet.” Dream lied because how do you tell your friends that a very attractive man who you have been simping for (Dream owns his simpery he understands that he sadly pines) may or may not think you’re hot? How? So he did the only reasonable thing. Didn’t bring it up.

“Oh that’s a shame but I can’t wait to see when he does,” Sapnap commented looking excited at the prospect of seeing a flustered Technoblade (or any reaction, he just wanted to see something happen.).

“Yeah…” Dream said awkwardly.

“What are you going to be doing while the other game goes on?” George asked, looking at Dream.

“I’m going to sit here and question all my life choices.” Dream responded laying down on his back on the grass.

“I mean whatever floats your boat.” Sapnap shrugged, laying down on the ground next to Dream.

“But look at it this way now even if Techno doesn’t like you, you have so many people after you,” Sapnap said, putting his hands under his head.

“What do you mean?” Dream asked moving his head to stare at Sapnap in confusion.

“Half the girls in our year were talking about how hot you are,” George explained, caving and laying on the ground on the other side of Dream.

“Well, that sucks for them.” Dream chuckled turning his head back, looking at the sky.

Sapnap snorted while George laughed at his comment.

They laid there for a while idly talking and listening to the announcements of the JV game on the loudspeakers. When it got to the end of the fourth quarter Dream decided he should probably get ready to go.

“You know the games don’t happen right after each other right?” Sapnap questioned in confusion as Dream got up and started dusting off his “uniform”.

“Yeah but the cheerleaders have to be out there cheering when they announce the players.” Dream explained, examining his cheer paper for a final time.

“Alright good luck man.” Sapnap chuckled, giving him a bright smile.

“Make sure to shout Techno’s name nice and loud!” George shouted at him as he walked away towards the field.

“Yeah yeah!” He shouted, turning around and walking backward to flip both of his friends off.

After watching his friends break into hysterics Dream turned around and jogged to the cheerleaders who were standing by the bleachers talking.

“Hey, guys!” He greeted smiling when he made it over.

“Hey Dream!” Dream walked over to Hannah and a girl standing next to her who had big poofy hair that made it so Dream was shocked her hair tie hadn’t snapped yet.

“Dream this is Puffy.” Hannah introduced amicably.

“Don’t worry I know this dumb dumb.” Puffy teased.

“Wow what a way to greet a new person.” Dream said dramatically, putting his hand on his chest.

“Ok duckling.” Puffy rolled her eyes and started laughing as Dream’s face turned red at the nickname.

“Duckling?” Hannah questioned sounding confused.

Puffy’s face lit up with a mischievous smirk at the question.

“Well, you see when Dream was little...” Puffy started before Dream threw himself at her, effectively grabbing her and covering her mouth.

“She’s delusional don’t listen to her.” Dream said over Puffy’s muffled maniacal laughing.

“Ok,” Hannah said skeptically dragging out the o.

Before Hannah could potentially question him or Puffy could escape his grasp the loudspeakers came on and the announcer said,

“Alright, everyone! Welcome to our varsity game!” The crowd cheered, “I know we’ve been waiting all night so let’s get into it!” as he started announcing all the players the cheerleaders moved into the view of the crowd and started waving around their pompoms and cheering at every name called. (and yes Dream did let Puffy go, even if it was a bit reluctantly.)

Dream wasn’t paying attention to the names being called because he was only here for one name. So finally when the announcer yelled,

“Technoblade Watson!” Dream made sure he was the loudest person in that stadium. (Which was pretty difficult seeing as he was going against teenage girls. But he still made it work.)

After Techno got called Dream just chilled casually cheering for the other players (he refuses to admit it’s because he almost shot his voice cheering for Techno and he didn’t want to risk losing it).

When all of the players finished getting called the cheerleaders started walking to the other side of the stadium to cheer in front of the other sets of bleachers.

Standing to the side and providing “emotional support” while also sometimes chiming in Dream felt like it was kind of pointless he was here. Yes, he knew what the bet said but it’s not like he could do much. There was no way in the world he would ruin the cheerleader’s routine so he was just standing off to the side.

As much as he felt out of place he was also glad that all he had to do was stand off to the side and clap.

He counted his blessings.

Not having to cheer also meant he was able to watch the game and see Techno dominate and destroy the other team.

This man is so perfect. Dream thought at least five times during the first half.

Even with Techno doing the best he could when half time came the score was 13-17 and Techno’s team was losing.

Dream cheered on the cheerleaders as they made their way to the middle of the field and did a fabulous performance full of stunts, flips, dancing, and a lot of pazazz.

As the cheerleaders ran back over Dream cheered them on yelling words of affirmation and telling them they were incredible.

If he was going to be on the sidelines he was going to be the best damn hype man any of the people here had ever seen.

After half time the cheerleaders moved back to the other side of the stadium and started cheering on that side.

Again Dream cheered from the sidelines shouting the cheers he knew or just being supportive to the team. He also made sure whenever he could to give cheerleaders who were looking at him a big smile and a thumbs up.

Finally, the fourth quarter came. The score was 32-31 (Techno’s team still losing). They were neck and neck and everyone in the stadium was holding their breaths waiting to see what would happen.

There were three minutes left on the clock.

As the kicker got ready to do the kickoff the whole stadium sat on the edge of their seats in suspense. The kickoff happened and one of Techno’s teammates caught it. Now the stadium was going crazy shouting and cheering for their team.

Techno was at the 40 feet mark near his team’s endzone and his teammate was near the 30 mark on the other side. Dodging the other team Techno’s teammate threw the ball to another teammate who made it to the 50 mark on the opposite side of where Techno was before he threw the ball towards where Techno was, he was then promptly tackled.

Thirty seconds left.

Techno took off and managed to catch the ball around the 20 mark on his side. He then started booking it to the endzone managing to juke a dude into tackling grass.

With five seconds left Techno made it to the endzone.

The crowd erupted.

Dream doesn’t think he’s ever cheered harder.

Everyone was going crazy, a few of Techno’s teammates tackled him to the ground and were laughing.

Dream’s face started to hurt from how long he had been smiling. But he didn’t care. They won!

After the commotion had settled a little and people were starting to leave Dream made his way to the locker room. The football coach was giving a speech to the footballers so he wanted to grab his stuff before he met with Techno in the parking lot.

After gathering his stuff from the locker room Dream made his way to the still slightly busy parking lot.

He stood there for about fifteen minutes idly scrolling on his phone before he heard,

“Dream!” Dream looked up and saw an out-of-breath Technoblade running towards him.

Dream smiled and put his phone away as he waited for the other to make his way over.

When Techno made it to where Dream was standing, which was under a tree that was on the side of the road and out of the way of cars, he stood for a second with his hands on his knees catching his breath.

When he caught his breath he looked up and made eye contact with Dream. Techno’s face broke into a bright smile and he enthusiastically asked, “Did you see what I did!?”

Dream couldn’t help the fond smile that he knew was on his face as he responded, “I did! You were amazing!”

Techno’s smile widened impossibly wider at the compliment and Dream saw his neck turn a light shade of pink.

That could just be because of all the running he’s been doing. A small voice in the back of Dream’s mind said. Dream ignored it.

But it did bring up a good point as Dream looked at Techno he noticed he was still in most of his football gear. (To be fair he was still in his cheer outfit).

“Tech why aren’t you changed?” Dream asked confused.

“Heh well you see,” Techno started sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck,” The coach talked for so long, and then I had to go grab my stuff but I didn’t want to make you wait that long so I left without changing.”

After Techno finished explaining Dream felt his heart soar. How had he managed to find the most considerate and sweet man in the world?

“Oh.” Is all Dream could say before he added a shy, “ Thanks that’s...really sweet. I appreciate that.”

Dream bit his lip as they stood in silence for a few moments, just listening to cars leaving the parking lot and people chatting as they left the stadium.

“So...you said you wanted to talk to me about something? Or did you bring me into the parking lot to give me an untimely demise?” Techno broke the silence with a joke.

“Uh- no nothing like that,” Dream chuckled gathering his courage before deciding, Fuck it. “Techno I like you.”

A sharp intake of breath was the only response he got for a few seconds.

Thinking he severely messed up Dream kept his eyes glued to the ground and tightly closed his eyes.

He was about to leave and go ugly cry to his best friends when something warm gently grabbed his chin.

His face was tilted upwards and Dream dared to open his eyes seeing Techno softly smiling at him. The warm thing turned out to be Techno’s hand that had now moved to his cheek and was resting there while Techno examined Dream’s face. His thumb gently grazed Dream’s cheek while Dream stood there, too shocked to do anything and still not sure if this was a good thing.

Was this some weird way Techno rejected people?

“Dream,” Techno’s voice was low and it made Dream involuntarily shiver,” I have been waiting for you to say that for so long.”

It took Dream a few seconds to process what Techno said but when he did he immediately said,” Wait really?!”

Techno chuckled that deep chuckle of his and said,” Yes Dream really. I’ve wanted to be with you since sophomore year.”

Dream’s brain malfunctioned at the confession.

Techno had wanted him since sophomore year?!

“Holy shit.” Is all Dream could mutter. Techno burst out laughing at the shock on his face.

“So wait. What-what do we do now? Cause I’ll be honest I didn’t think that I’d get this far.” Dream laughed in disbelief.

“Well, I’ve wanted to ask if I could kiss you for a while,” Techno commented, making Dream’s face turn bright red. “So Dream can I kiss you?”

Dream was pretty sure he stopped breathing.

Even a lack of oxygen wasn’t going to ruin this for him though so he mustered enough sense to say, “Please.”

Instead of a fiery kiss filled with passion with both sides fighting to take control, this kiss was soft and loving, Techno’s warm lips feeling heavenly against Dream’s. Their mouths moved languidly not wanting to rush the kiss but to treasure it.

After a while (Dream doesn’t remember how long) they parted for air. They pressed their foreheads together as they took deep breaths. Dream let out a breathless laugh.

“What’s so funny?” Techno whispered.

“I just never thought this would happen,” Dream leaned into the hand that hadn’t left his cheek and closed his eyes,” I have wanted to ask you out for ages.”

“I guess we both were waiting for the other to come to us huh?” Techno laughed.

Dream laughed with him, mostly at the absurdity of the whole situation.

They stayed together for a little longer before Dream pulled back and looked into Techno’s eyes saying,” Hey you wanna get ice cream with me?”

Techno raised an amused and questioning eyebrow.

“What? You won we should celebrate!” Dream defended.

“Why not,” Techno smiled and held out his hand.

Dream grabbed it and lightly swung their conjoined hands as they walked to Techno’s car.

-------

They looked around the little ice cream shop holding hands, both unwilling to let the other go after so long of wanting.

“What would you like?” The nice girl behind the counter asked.

“Uhm I’ll get rocky road. In a cone.” Dream said smiling.

“Really?” Techno questioned with his eyebrows raised.

“What?”

“Just surprised,” Techno said going back to scanning the ice cream flavors.

“What’s wrong with rocky road?” Dream asked grabbing his cone and saying a quiet thank you to the lady.

“I didn’t say anything was wrong with it.” Techno seemed to find a flavor he liked and he went to the lady,” A mint chocolate chip in a cone, please.”

“Wait you’re disrespecting rocky road and you get mint chocolate chip? ” Dream asked incredulously.

“First I was not disrespecting rocky road I was just surprised that was the one you chose. Second, nothing is wrong with Mint chip. It is a very good flavor.” Techno stated.

“Here you go.” The lady smiled while she gave Techno his ice cream cone.

“Thank you.” He said he then turned to Dream.

“I didn’t know you were so passionate about ice cream.”

“I’m not you were just judging it for no reason.” Dream pouted.

“Whatever you say.” Techno smiled and rolled his eyes going to the cash register paying for the cones before Dream could object.

After Techno paid they walked outside, Dream was still adamant there was nothing wrong with defending your favorite flavor of ice cream, and Techno just smiled fondly.

“You wanna sit here?” Techno asked as they made their way to a bench.

“Sure.”

They sat on the bench slowly eating their ice creams and enjoying the quiet night, the only sounds being a distant car and the sound of crickets filling the air.

Dream leaned against Techno’s side and closed his eyes.

They probably looked like a weird pair. A male cheerleader in a bright lime green outfit and a footballer in just his underpads.

But Dream didn’t care. He was happy.

Maybe he did win that bet after all.

Take that universe.

“I’m going to pay you back for that ice cream.”

Techno let out a loud fond sigh. “Ok.”

Notes:

Hello! I hope you enjoyed the last chapter! I really was not expecting this fic to get as much love as it did and I want to thank every single one of you for all of the support it means a lot to me <3.
Now how did we feel about this chapter? I know it's a lot put into one but I really didn't want to make you guys wait for any longer (even though it took almost twenty days-who said that.). But for real I hope this ending was a good conclusion for you guys. And who knows I might do another story in this universe. I'm kind of obsessed with it.
I also want everyone to say good job to me cause not only did I go to a high school game for this but I also had to look up football stuff (scoring and the field why is there five different scoring ways?!). I severely struggled with that part but no matter! I made it through successfully!
Now I'm super tired so I'm gonna go to bed I love you all and again I hope you enjoyed this story and at least found it somewhat entertaining. Byeeeee!
*Ahem* Now for my outro,
I hope you have a good day/afternoon/night <3

Chapter 8: There is a new part to this story!
