- Did you hear it too?-
-Yeah this morning. I can't believe someone like him got married-
-Even worse, he probably married some strange girl of an unknown village-
-Poor Haruno san, I thought she had something going on with Uchiha san-
-But they do have something, we all have seen them right?-
-So is Haruno san some kind of mistress to him? He is married after all-
-Mako chan shut up! That is something horrible to say-
-But it is the truth! Uchiha san married another girl but he still comes to the village to be with Haruno san...-
Sakura heard the girls saying, she heard the murmurs at the hospital all day and they all said the same thing: Sasuke Uchiha was married. He married a foreign girl he met in one of his journeys.
Sakura didn't pay attention to all the gossip at first, but as the day went by people talked even more about them. She started doubting.
No, Sasuke would never do that.
Not after all that nights that he has walked me home after work.
Not after holding my hand when we are alone.
Not after he kissed me on midnight that other time.
Not after I invited him to stay the night at my department and we made love for the first time.
Sasuke would never do that.
She repeated that to herself when the murmurs at the hospital were too loud, whenever she passed by and someone looked at her and started whispering.
When her shift was finally over there he was waiting for her at the entrance, he was carrying a small basket, they both agreed to have a date today: a small picnic for them in the forest.
-Sasuke kun, you brought everything!- Sakura said with a cheery voice as she looked at the things in the basket.
-I didn't want to dissapoint you, should we get going?- he asked as he started walking, Sakura nodded and started walking by his side.
But again, when people saw them together the whispers started.
- 'The Uchiha boy and Haruno san? Isn't that boy married already?' -
- 'He is, he married another girl of the mist village they say but apparently he is not satisfied with her and always comes back to Haruno san' -
- ' Huh? What a shame, I thought the Uchiha clan was noble but look at the last survivor being a scoundrel with every girl he meets in each village he visits. His family would be disappointed'-
-'It's embarrassing I know, he is not the gentleman everyone thought'-
Sakura looked at Sasuke, apparently he didn't hear the gossips but she did. She felt uncomfortable, she tried to ignore the murmurs all day at the hospital but at this point she couldn't take them, her heart started breaking a little. What if the rumors are true? Everyone in the village said it, maybe they were right.
They finally arrived at the beautiful spot where they would have their picnic. Sasuke placed a blanket on the floor and starting setting everything in place. He even placed a small pot with flowers in the middle.
-Give me your hand- Sasuke said, Sakura did as ordered and he helped her to sit down in the blanket, after that he placed one of the flowers of the pot behind her ear. He caressed the pink locks and placed the small white flower which tangled with some hair strands.
Sasuke kun has always been so nice, what a gentleman. Sakura thought to herself as a blush covered her face. Sasuke sat down besides her, ready to start their date.
-I am not a very good cooker but hopefully you'll like the meal- he said while looking away, Sakura could see how the tip of his ears were getting red as he also started blushing.
Sakura giggled and later joined him eating the food, they had moments of silence and they would also talk about their days, everything was perfect until the sun began to set and Sakura remembered everything that she heard during the day.
-Is something wrong, Sakura? - Sasuke asked as he turned around to see her sleeping on his shoulder.
Sakura took a deep breath, he truly knew something was going on with her- Nothing, I just remembered something stupid-
-Hm? What is that you consider stupid?- Sasuke asked her.
Sakura turned around to see him, after all they were just silly rumors- Well today at the hospital and when we were walking I heard people talking...-
Sasuke raised an eyebrow- Talking about what?-
Sakura started playing with her hair, something she would do whenever she was nervous- About you, they said that you married someone already-
Sasuke changed completely, he starting getting up from the place where he was sitting- So you know it already?-
Sakura's heart broke in a million pieces- Sasuke kun, it's true then?- tears starting to form in the corner of her eyes.
-Yes, I didn't want you to find out this way- he said and looked at her with his black eyes.
A tear finally escaped her eyes as she stood up to face him- So it is true. Marriage? And what about me? -
Sasuke raised an eyebrow at her again - I thought you would say yes-
Sakura placed her hand in the bridge of her nose, what kind of woman did Sasuke think she was?!
-You've got to be kidding me Sasuke kun, you thought I would accept this? Being some kind of mistress to you while you return to the arms of another woman?!- Sakura was shouting at this point.
-Sakura what are you talking about?- Sasuke said looking at her confused.
Before Sakura could answer 3 figures started walking towards them: Naruto, Ino and Kakashi.
-Hey guys! How is everything going?- Naruto asked with his usual cheery voice but this one faded as he saw Sakura crying and Sasuke looking at her- Sasuke you idiot what the hell did you do?-
-Unforgivable, Sasuke kun. This was the first warning I gave you!- Ino shouted at Sasuke as she walked towards Sakura. Sakura noticed Ino was carrying a bouquet of white flowers- This was supposed to be a happy marriage-
Sakura looked at her best friend with eyes wide open- Ino pig you knew about this too?! And you didn't tell me??- she said with tears again.
-Sakura we all knew about this, we thought it would be a good idea- it was Kakashi's voice this time. Sakura looked at them, how come 3 of her closest friends knew Sasuke was married and none of them told her about it? Tears started to run down her cheeks.
-So all this time you knew Sasuke kun married another woman and you all decided it was better for me not to know about it?- She turned around to face them, she was more angry than sad now.
Naruto raised his hands as if he were trying to protect himself from her punch- Sakura chan no! It is not like that-
Ino placed her hand in Sakura's shoulder- Sakura you don't understand, the woman Sasuke kun will marry is-
-You- Sasuke said as he grabbed her hand and looked at her.
-What? But...I thought you... And the people they said that...- Sakura was lost, she tried to say something but Sasuke grabbing her hand and looking at her with sincere eyes made her even more confused.
-I decided it some time ago, I planned it all to marry you today but I only told this to trusthworthy people. It was supposed to be a surprise- Sasuke said as he looked at Naruto, Ino and Kakashi.
-The thing that concerns me is not Sakura finding out but the way she thinks you married another woman- Kakashi said placing a finger in his chin- How could she ever imagine that?-
-I heard people talking at the hospital and the streets- Sakura said as she wiped away her tears, she felt so stupid and embarrassed now.
-No idea, Sasuke kun told us only. Unless...- Ino said as she watched Naruto and the others turned around to see him too.
-Well maybe I told one person or two about Sasuke getting married to Sakura chan today but that was it! I don't know how the message got so twisted- Naruto said chuckling, Ino hit him in the head with her fist.
-Stupid Naruto! It was supposed to be a secret- Ino scolded him.
-Hey my two best friends are getting married I had to tell everyone!- the blonde replied as he patted his own head.
-Sakura is my best friend too and you don't see me around telling everyone she is getting married!- Ino shouted- Because you guys are getting married right?-
Sakura looked at Sasuke and placed a loving hand in his face, her other hand still holding his lone hand- You really want to marry me? The date and all this surprise was your plan to propose?-
Sasuke blushed this time, Sakura could see his ears getting red again- I am not good with proposals- he replied shyly- But yes, I can't imagine marrying someone else.-
Sakura smiled and hugged him-I love you, let's get married- she said whispering in his ear.
Sasuke nodded- I guess you can proceed- he said to the 3 guests. Ino gave the small flower bouquet to Sakura and stood beside her as Naruto stood beside Sasuke.
-Again thank you for allowing me to be your best man- Naruto said showing off a toothy grin to Sasuke.
-You almost ruined everything, too bad it's too late to change the best man- Sasuke replied.
-Words hurt Sasuke but you know what? Once again I won because I got married first- Naruto said laughing. Sasuke rolled his eyes.
Kakashi cleared his throat and proceeded to read a scroll, he was the one in charge of the small ceremony. Sakura looked at Sasuke with tears of joy in her eyes now, not paying attention to a word of what was being read.
-Uchiha Sasuke; do you agree to love, to cheerish, to care, to protect and to be there always for this woman for the rest of your mortal days?- Kakashi asked as he looked at Sasuke.
Sasuke squeezed Sakura's hand as he stared into her beautiful green eyes.
-I do- Sasuke said making Sakura smile again.
-And you Haruno Sakura; do you agree to love, to cheerish, to care, to protect and to be there always for this man for the rest of your mortal days?- Kakashi asked Sakura this time.
-I do- Sakura said, her heart full of love at that moment.
-And by the power I have as the sixth hokage of the Leaf Village I now recognize you are both officially husband and wife, the law and the witnesses here recognize you too. Sign the scroll please- Kakashi pointed to the place in the scroll where thay had to put the signatures, they both did as indicated and stared at each other again
-Oh come on Sasuke don't wait for Kakashi sensei to tell you to kiss the bride- Naruto told Sasuke.
Sasuke leaned in to kiss his wife now, he placed some strands of hair behind her ear and joined his lips with hers. A pure touch of lips at the beginning until Sakura placed her arms around his neck to deepen the kiss and feel his lips even more.
All 3 witnesses clapped and congratulated the newlyweds.
Days later Sasuke was leaving the village on a new journey but this time he was not alone. His beautiful wife Uchiha Sakura was now by his side and they were ready to explore the world together.
Sakura was extremely happy, her husband is a gentleman, an honest and brave man, a loving man and over all he is her one true love.
