Work Text:
uraraka can’t sleep again. lately she’s been waking up around three am, her thoughts swarming too much for her to sleep passively.
knowing it’ll be long before she gets tired again, she goes about her early morning routine: quietly closing her door to her room before getting a glass of water and walking out onto the terrace of their building. it was a full moon tonight, just wisps of clouds floating through.
she thought about her parents back home, how thrilling it was to receive her acceptance letter from ua, and where she was now. she’s come a long way from where she was when she first started her hero course, but she felt like something was off. nothing’s ever perfect.
“uraraka?” a voice pulls her from the depths of her thoughts. she quickly turned her head back to see sero. “oh, hey there.” she softly spoke and turned back around. he leaned against the railing. “couldn’t sleep?” she glumly smiled and brushed back a strand of hair. “yeah…” she trailed.
after a brief moment of silence, sero spoke up. “a full moon huh?” she looked up for a second before humming a reply. from the pale moonlight, sero noticed the bags under her eyes. he noticed the outline of her nose, the way she was slightly pouting.
“what’s wrong?” he asked. ”nothing. i’m fine.” she brushed him off. “it’s not nothing if you’re up at three am before school.” he quipped. she sighed and looked up at him. “you’re up too.”
sero chuckled. “you’re right.” he looked up at the sky. “i wanted to see the moon. i was up doing homework when i saw it was full tonight. it’s cool knowing my family back home sees the same moon as i do. it makes me feel less homesick.”
uraraka smiled. “i miss my parents. i feel like i’m not doing enough to help them. i feel like my quirk isn’t strong enough to fight villains on my own.” her voice broke at the end and tears started forming in her eyes. sero was quick to hold her in his arms, petting her hair as he spoke affirmations to her while she quietly cried.
“you’re amazing as is uraraka, don’t ever think less of yourself. i know your parents are proud to know you’re training to be a pro hero. it might not seem like you’re making a difference now but you really are. you’re so strong.” he pulled her back and looked at her. her eyes were red and puffy from her crying, and tears were still running down. her tip of her nose was red too. her lips were plump and she was still slightly pouting. he tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
“the moon looks beautiful tonight.” he whispered before placing a soft kiss on her forehead. she looked at him with wide eyes as he walked back into his room.
