Summary
The shield - Greed's shield - cracks beneath his fist, flaking off Father like dust; like ash; like the soul of a dying Homunculus. Frenzied despair breaks open the creature's carbonised ribcage, and Ed's fingers splay outwards to shred the heart within.
But there is no heart - only a stone, only a hundred thousand sacrifices, and Ed thinks: what's one more?
Or: Ed resorts to unethical means to get his lover back, and - in theory - it goes according to plan.
