Sweet Tooth For You, My Dreamin’ Space

Summary:

Ranboo loved the sound of his family's laughter. So carefree and joyful. Michael and his belly laughs, coming from deep within his little body and lighting up even the darkest room. Tubbo's raspy laugh, mixed with little wheezes and gasps and made his bones feel like jelly. Ranboo's face was split into a wide grin, cheeks hurting.

The Beloved-Underscore family has some much overdue happy time. One peaceful and sleepy evening full of love and laughter!

Notes:

Hello, this work is once again edited by myself. Any mistakes? Let me know! This was a bit of a challenge, actually, to write something solely happy without any angst. Short work, but I didn’t feel like there was much to add once this was written!

No content/trigger warning. This work has both tags for Ranboo and Tubbo friendship and romance. Whether you could read this as a platonic marriage, an ambiguous relationship or a romantic one is up to you, but just know that it was written with the intention of romantic marriage. This is a romantic shipping of two characters, not the CCs, which both CCs have been okay with for a while. If new info regarding those particular boundaries for the characters come to light, please let me know!

Work Text:

Tubbo lifted Michael up into the air above his head and spun around, drawing laughter from both boys. With a huge breath, Michael was dramatically thrown onto the bed, yelling the whole time. The mattress bounced and the impeccable bedding crumpled under the little boy's weight. He laughed again and wriggled around on the bed.

"Daddy, Daddy! Do that again!"

Tubbo chuckled, but dutifully lifted Michael up again and threw him onto the bed. And again. And again. The pillows bounced out of place and the comforter was all messy, but Ranboo couldn't find a single part of him that cared.

This time, when Michael yelled to be thrown again, Tubbo instead bent down and attacked Michael with his fingers. Tickling every part of his body, from his stomach to the bottom of his feet. Michael's giggles grew louder and louder until all three of them were out of breath.

"Daddy, Daddy stop! Stop!" Michael finally squealed out. Tubbo let up on the ferocious tickle attack, but not before booping Michael's nose. He then turned towards Ranboo, who was sitting in the wooden rocking chair. Ranboo's toes curled into the fluffy carpet, and the chair rocked back and forth with his own motions. His husband grinned, and beckoned him over.

Ranboo shook his head, content to just sit there. Tubbo pouted a bit, but turned back around and climbed on to the bed.

Crawling over to the middle of the mussed bedding, he sat down criss-crossed and pulled a squirming Michael into his lap. Ranboo watched as they eventually settled down, his husband propped up against some pillows and Michael leaning against his chest. Strong, tanned arms wrapped around the little boy, little hands grabbing at larger, scarred ones. His entire small hand wrapped around Tubbo's larger fingers, he clutched them and squeezed.

Tubbo awwed silently, looking up at Ranboo and beaming. His eyes were wide and sparking, glancing from Michael to Ranboo frantically. Ranboo couldn't help but smile back, nodding softly.

As Tubbo leaned back against the pillows for a comfortable position, Ranboo looked down at his knees and quietly began to hum. At first it was so soft that only he could hear it, but slowly his voice grew louder and the hummed lullabies filled the room.

They stayed like this for an indefinite amount of time, Ranboo's humming lulling the group into a content state. The boys on the bed snuggled together happily, the chair rocked slowly.

After a while, Ranboo looked back at his family. Michael looked drowsy, falling deeper into his Dad's embrace every second. Tubbo didn't seem far behind, perfectly happy to fall asleep sitting upright. He smiled and let the humming taper out, the bedroom falling into a serene silence.

Tubbo cracked one eye open and once again, beckoned Ranboo over. This time, Ranboo happily followed suit, standing from the rocking chair and walking over to the bed. Careful to not disturb his family, he gently pulled the pillows from underneath his husband and guided him to a lying down position. Michael adjusted as well, curling up on Tubbo's stomach and in between his legs.

Ranboo slipped out of his suit jacket and loosened his tie, and carefully laid himself down on the bed as well. He grabbed a long pillow and tucked it under him and Tubbo's heads. Taking a deep breath, he then turned onto his side to face Tubbo and reached his arm outwards. He touched his shoulder, and Tubbo once again opened his eyes to look at Ranboo.

Giving Ranboo a small grin, he lightly grabbed Michael and turned the two of them to face Ranboo. Michael growled a little, grumpy from not yet being asleep. The small boy pushed himself upwards and pressed his wispy hair to his Daddy's chin. He simultaneously pressed against Tubbo's back and grabbed at Ranboo.

Ranboo chuckled under his breath and drew even closer, wrapping his arms around Tubbo and leaning their foreheads together. Michael let out a squeal at being squished by his parents, but quickly melted into the cuddles. Ranboo's husband smiled and stared absently, dreamily, for a moment. A slow blink, and then he pushed their noses together.

Warm breaths mingled, heartbeats so close they were one, their son curled up between them. Ranboo smiled.

Michael fell completely asleep, and Ranboo felt as he squirmed or sighed in his sleep every so often. Tubbo took a little longer to fall asleep, but his breaths eventually slowed and deepened, a sure sign of slumber. Ranboo himself was in a state of exhaustion, on the edge of unconsciousness.

He closed his eyes and took a moment to feel his surroundings. Michael's small body pressed up against him, Tubbo's forehead and nose against his, their legs brushing and his tail loosely curled on his husband's leg. Two arms wrapped around his family, one numb from the pressure.

Michael snorted softly and Ranboo finally dipped into the comfort of sleep, letting the feeling of his loved ones in his arms relax his body completely.

The happy family lay there, sleeping soundly and full of love.
