Sunshine and Simping

Summary:

Denki Kaminari is a video game streamer under the name “Chargebolt” who has gained a decent following on his social media platforms. While balancing his college and streaming life, he always manages to make time to watch his favorite streamer—the quiet and mysterious Psychwave. When the pair are introduced by their fellow gamer friends, Denki soon begins to realize that his adoration for Hitoshi Shinsou surpasses that of his fanboyish admiration for the other’s gaming abilities.

-

Featuring a lot of mutual pining, boys being dorks, and the aggressively supportive members of U.A.

Notes:

This is the first fic I’ve written for this anime/manga, but when I heard about this pairing they became my favorite, so I knew I just had to write about these two dorks!

I hope you enjoy and thanks for reading!

Chapter 1: Chargebolt & Psychwave

Chapter Text

“Oh! Clutch!” Denki’s excited shouts rang out as he successfully threw a bomb at his opponent, taking them out.

As he rounded the corner, he encountered another enemy from the other team, but he quickly defeated them. Denki could hardly sit still as his excitement began to bubble up at the prospect of taking the rest of the enemy team all on his own and winning the match. He was practically bouncing in his seat by now, clearly very invested in the game.

Denki was currently playing the game Valorant, which was being broadcasted to his considerable amount of followers on Twitch. The blonde haired gamer, who went by the name “Chargebolt” on the streaming service, was known by his fans for his upbeat energy as well skillful play style. The games he played ranged anywhere from wholesome simulations such as Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, to more action-based ones like Skyrim.

While he played just about anything that he came across, he typically tried to avoid the horror genre, as it was a bit too scary for him. He had dabbled in a couple of horror games, but had never gotten far without shrieking and falling out of his chair when jumpscares occured (or at any time, really), much to his viewers’ amusement.

Either way, Denki Kaminari’s sunshine-esque personality and interactive streams had rather quickly brought in a lot of viewers throughout the three years he had been streaming. Although he wasn’t extremely popular on Twitch, he definitely had a lot of followers who would pop in to see what he was playing and talk with him during his streams.

Speaking of his followers, Denki’s chat was going crazy as they watched him score kill after kill in the current Valorant match.

As Denki’s chat was flooded with encouragement, the energetic streamer was engrossed in finishing off his very last opponent. It was almost completely silent, with soft shooting noises coming from the game in the background, as Denki held his breath. He took a second to aim straight towards the player decked in red—who foolishly had their back turned away—and then fired.

It was silent as Denki waited to see results of his shot, before—

“YESSS!” he cried out, seeing that he had won the match.

Jumping up from his chair, Denki did a funny little victory dance and waved his hands in the air at his accomplishment. His chat cheered along with him as they watched the streamer celebrate.

This was why his followers loved Denki so much. He was adorable.

After a few minutes of excitement, Denki sat down again and grinned at the camera, a pink flush of happiness on his cheeks.

“We did it guys!” he said into the mic. “That was great, wasn’t it?”

His eyes darted across the screen his chat was displayed on, saying hi to people and replying to some comments.

“This’ll be a great thing to add to my highlights video for YouTube,” he said after a minute.

Checking the time on the screen, he saw it was nearly seven o’clock. His eyes widened slightly before turning back to fully face his camera.

“Well, guys, I think this would be a good high note to end on, wouldn’t you agree?” he said with his characteristic smile. “Thank you guys so much for joining me! I had an absolute blast! I hope to see you all next time! Thanks for coming! I’ll see ya soon!”

Denki ended the stream as he always did, with a peace sign and an accompanying wink, before ending the stream and shutting things down.

He made quick work of putting his recording equipment and headset away, eager to get dinner and relax for the rest of the night.

Being a computer programming major in college while also finding time to stream various video games for hours certainly kept his schedule full, but he always found ways to relax and have some fun.

One of his favorite things to do in his free time was watch his favorite streamer—Psychwave. Who, as Denki noticed as he checked the time again, would be going live in approximately five minutes.

Denki had loved watching Psychwave ever since he had first come across his channel a few years back. The man was also a gamer, but he primarily specialized in horror and mystery games, as well as fast-paced action ones.

It was kind of ironic how Denki could hardly stomach playing horror games himself, yet avidly watched Psychwave, but he found the other streamer’s dry humor and witty commentary really enjoyable and almost calming in a way.

It also helped that the streamer was pretty attractive too. He hadn’t publicly revealed his real name, but his viewers knew him by his dark purple hair and under eye bags that emphasized his perpetual state of tiredness. The general consensus among his fans was that Psychwave was hot.

But… Denki swore he didn’t like watching his streams purely because of that.

The blonde felt himself drawn to the more relaxed persona that the man gave off on his social media platforms. Psychwave’s personality was basically the antithesis of Denki’s. Where the blonde was loud and full of energy, the other was more subdued and straightforward.

Their play styles also differed. Psychwave preferred to go about things in a more methodical, thought out manner, while Denki usually just charged into games without a plan. Although Psychwave wasn’t nearly as talkative as Denki, his followers admired his quick-witted commentary and psychological take on games.

Since discovering him, Denki rarely missed Psychwave’s streams, which usually occurred in the evening. He was an avid lurker, watching the streams under a different account, and he usually had dinner or did his homework as he watched. At this point, Psychwave was basically Denki’s comfort streamer, and he thought of himself as the other’s number one fan.

After quickly warming up some leftover pizza in his dormitory’s microwave, Denki rushed back to his chair and pulled up Psychwave’s stream. It looked as if the man would be playing a new type of psychological horror game, which seemed to be right up the streamer’s alley.

Once the stream loaded, Denki grinned upon seeing familiar purple hair and a lazy smile being lit up by blue background lights.

“Hey guys,” the man greeted quietly as more and more people joined. “I thought we’d try a new game that was released pretty recently. It’s called ‘Brainwash’ and it looks pretty good.”

Denki had heard of it a couple times before, but he hadn’t learned too much about it. He figured that Psychwave would probably start playing it eventually, what with him being a big fan of horror games.

The streamer began to play after a few minutes of reading his chat and responding to a few questions and comments. The game was based around the main character being subjected to various experiments on his brain, and his attempts at escape while simultaneously being pursued by scientists as well as figments of his own imagination.

There were several times in which an enemy would pop out of nowhere, causing Denki to squeal and clutch his throw blanket closer to his chest. Meanwhile, Psychwave seemed pretty much unfazed by all these jump scares. The most he did that conveyed his surprise was widen his eyes and curse softly.

How the purple haired man was able to remain calm, Denki could never understand.

Towards the end of the stream, the chat randomly started to bring up the topic of the streamer Chargebolt, to Denki’s surprise. He hadn’t known that some of his viewers also watched Psychwave, but he couldn’t blame him. The man was great at what he did, if he did say so himself.

~•~•~•~•~•~

It was at this time that the purple haired streamer had turned his attention from the game to his chat to see if he had missed anything.

“...Chargebolt?” he said after scanning his eyes over the messages pouring in.

Denki had to bring his hand up to his mouth to try to muffle the squeal that came from the excitement of hearing his name leave his favorite streamer’s mouth. His eyes were fixed on the man’s expression, waiting for his response.

“Um I’ve heard of him, but I don’t really know much about him,” Psych said after a minute. “I haven’t watched any of his streams or anything yet.”

Denki frowned slightly in disappointment upon hearing this. He wasn’t really surprised, but it would be cool if the other man did watch him. I mean, at least he knew about him though, right?

He didn’t dwell on it, though, as the subject was changed and the gameplay recommenced.

Pretty soon, it was twelve in the morning, and Psychwave was ending his stream.

“Well guys, we should probably finish here for the night. It’s getting late, and you guys don’t need to fuck up your sleep schedules as much as I have,” he said with a chuckle. “I should be streaming again in a couple days with a few others, but I’m not sure what we’ll be playing yet. It should start a little earlier than usual, so I hope to see you there! Thanks for coming. See ya!” The man gave a short wave to the camera and a slight smile, then the stream ended.

Denki hummed in contentment after he logged out of Twitch and shut his computer down. He always loved being able to watch his favorite streamer on chill nights like this.

He had said he would be streaming with other people soon, right?

Psychwave hadn’t done that often—preferring to play games by himself for the most part. The few times he had streamed with other people, Denki hadn’t recognized them. It would be a welcome change for sure, and the blonde was eager to see what that stream would be like.

For now, though, Denki’s need for sleep seemed to be catching up to him. The moment his head hit the pillow after going through his nightly routine, the man was out like a light.

“Guess whattt,” came a familiar sing-song voice from behind Denki as he made his way to an empty table after buying lunch.

“Eijiro!” Denki exclaimed with a grin as he turned to see his red haired friend who had caught up with him. “What’s up, dude?”

A sly grin slowly slid across Kirishima’s face as he and Denki sat down. “Well, you know how you’re a total Psychwave fanboy? You literally never stop talking about how cool you think he is.”

Shut up,” Denki replied with a good natured eye roll. “You think he’s cool too!”

“Well, yes, of course I do… But , you’ll never guess what Midoriya and I arranged!”

Denki gestured for him to continue as he spooned some soup into his mouth.

Kirishima smirked. “I contacted him the other day and asked him if he wanted to stream with the gang tomorrow. He actually said yes, and a couple of his friends will join us too. We’ll probably end up playing Among Us, unless anyone has any objections.”

Denki promptly choked on, and then proceeded to spit out his mouthful of soup.

“You. WHAT?”

Kirishima couldn’t hold back his laughter upon seeing his friend wide eyed and spluttering, soup dripping down his shirt carelessly. “You heard me.”

Denki continued to stare at the redhead in shock, taking in his words. His absolute favorite streamer would be playing with him. He was going to meet Psychwave.

“I- Wow! I can’t believe this!” Denki jumped up out of his seat, ignoring all the stares he was receiving from those around him. “Thank you so much, Kiri!” He then pulled his friend into a bone crushing hug, infectious excitement washing over them both.

Kirishima laughed and returned the hug. “No problem dude. Everyone knows how much of a simp you are for that guy,” he said before carefully shoving the excitable blonde off of him. “But oi get off dude! You’re getting soup all over me!”

All throughout the night, Denki couldn’t get over his excitement at the prospect of being to meet Psychwave, even stream with him.

This energy lasted through to the next afternoon, even making it hard for him to focus on eating as he babbled on and on about what a great opportunity this was, how he was worried about making a good impression, and various other things that his friends tuned out for the most part. Ultimately, Bakugou had to threaten Denki with the idea of finding a replacement for him if he didn’t shut up and eat his pasta. Thankfully this worked, resulting in a much quieter rest of lunch for them.

Before Denki knew it, it was almost three o’clock, which meant that it was almost time for the stream to begin. He felt a bundle of nerves in the pit of his stomach in anticipation for what was to come as he said goodbye to Kirishima, Bakugou, and Midoriya. His other streamer friends either didn’t attend the same college as them or lived off campus, so they would be talking to them the first time that day when they started setting up the stream.

Denki practically bounded back to his dorm room to start getting ready. After setting up his mic, headset, and monitor, he opened up Discord, freezing minutely when he saw the welcome message that had appeared in the #general chat.

     → Welcome Psychwave ! We’re glad you’re here!

Denki took a deep breath before joining the voice call.

Here we go.

Beep.

The sound of Hitoshi joining the Discord voice call resonated through the purple haired man’s headset before he heard a bunch of voices all at once.

Deku: “Heyyy!”

RedRiot: “Hey man! Glad you could join us!”

GROUNDZERO: “Sup.”

JirouJaxx: “Hello Psychwave!”

Uravity: “Hi there! Welcome!”

IcyHot: “Hello.”

Hitoshi took a minute to let the usernames and voices sink in before replying. He recognized a few of them, but not all. He had only really watched Ground Zero, Deku, and Red Riot before, but he knew that this group was pretty popular on Twitch. It was good that they had all agreed to talk for a bit before starting their streams, so it wouldn’t be super awkward when they began playing.

Psychwave: “Hey guys, thanks for inviting me.”

Deku: “No problem! We’re really glad you could come! In fact… Wait—“

There was a pause in which everyone was silent. They seemed to be waiting for something, before one of the girls spoke up.

JirouJaxx: “Kaminari? You there bro?”

Hitoshi heard a distant choking sound, before—

Chargebolt [still slightly choking]: “O-Oh! Yeah, sorry! Hey, Psychwave! I’m a really big fan—“

GROUNDZERO [deadpan]: “A really big fan.”

Chargebolt: “Shut up Kacchan!”

A slight smirk crossed Hitoshi’s face as he listened to the apparently flustered voice of Chargebolt. He remembered that his chat had been talking about this guy on his stream the other day, so he was curious to see what all the hype over him was about.

Psychwave [with slightly smug undertones]: “Thanks, I’m glad to hear it.”

Before anyone could say anything else, two more beeps sounded, along with corresponding voices.

itspinki: “HHHHELLOOO!”

There was a collective wince among those in the call as a result of the loud noise that blasted through their headphones.

phantomThief: “Jesus, Mina. You’re going to kill everyone before we even have the chance to play. Anyway, hey thanks for inviting us.”

Chargebolt: “Ooh! You guys are Psychwave’s friends! Nice to meet you! And… Pinki, I think you’ve been in my chat quite a few times! Thanks for the support! I like watching your streams too.”

Hitoshi hummed to himself thoughtfully as his mic was off. Kaminari did seem pretty nice, so he understood why his viewers generally liked him. He did seem pretty energetic, though. Not that it was a bad thing. It was kind of cute. It reminded him of Mina.

itspinki [with a dramatic gasp]: “Reallyyy? Thank you Denki!”

Uravity: “Oh, we should probably properly introduce ourselves with our real names, shouldn’t we? For anyone who doesn’t know, I’m Ochako Uraraka!

JirouJaxx: “I’m Kyouka Jirou!”

Deku: “I’m Izuku Midoriya!”

GROUNDZERO: “Name’s Katsuki Bakugou.”

phantomThief: “My name’s Neito Monoma.”

itspinki: “Oh! Oh! Me next! I’m Mina Ashido!”

IcyHot: “Shouto Todoroki.”

RedRiot: “Eijiro Kirishima!”

Chargebolt: “I’m Denki Kaminari! But you can call me whatever you want!”

GROUNDZERO: “Dunce face.”

Chargebolt: “...Except that.”

Hitoshi hesitated for a moment, realizing he was next. He had never revealed his real name before, not wanting to draw attention to himself and his personal information, but… This group did seem pretty trustworthy.

Psychwave: “I don’t usually tell people this, but my name’s Hitoshi Shinsou. I’d prefer it if this stays between us though. Privacy reasons and all that.”

Deku: “Yeah, of course! We’ll make sure to keep your name private and not dox you anywhere.”

There were murmurs of agreement before Kaminari spoke up again.

Chargebolt: “Heyy, can I call you ‘Toshi? It’s just, I call all my friends different nicknames… And we’re friends now, right?”

Hitoshi stared at the other’s Discord profile picture—an image of the blonde wearing big blue shades—as he contemplated his question. This dude really was eager, wasn’t he? But he would indulge him. Once again, he was kind of cute.

Psychwave [chuckling]: “Yeah, we’re friends now. Go ahead, knock yourself out, kid.

The blonde’s cheer was like music to Hitoshi’s ears.

RedRiot: “Well, now that we’ve got that settled… Are you guys ready to start? The Among Us code is in the chat if you want to join.”

After a few minutes of waiting for everyone’s stream to be ready and Kirishima giving an introduction for everyone watching, the group was ready to play. They were playing Proximity Chat Among Us, so that meant they would be able to hear each other if they were in the same vicinity, which made things interesting.

Hitoshi had played Among Us before, but never on video or with a group like this. He made a mental note to try to keep track of everyone’s playing styles so he could try to sniff out the imposter or evade ejection when he was one.

When the Skeld map loaded in, Hitoshi found out he was an imposter along with Todoroki this round. This would be interesting.

After the group said a few words to each other surrounding the middle cafeteria table and they started to go in different directions, Hitoshi was going to find a task to fake, when Kaminari’s voice sounded in his ear.

“Hey, Psych!”

“Oh, hey Kaminari,” Hitoshi replied, wondering what the other wanted. Normally he would think he would be led into a corner and killed, but since he was the imposter he knew that wouldn’t happen. “What’s up?”

Kaminari’s yellow character circled Hitoshi’s purple one before the blonde spoke again. “Come with me,” he said, before running off without waiting for a response.

Hitoshi raised an eyebrow at his camera before following Kaminari's character.

He followed Kaminari until they reached the back corner of the navigation room.

“...You’re not going to kill me, are you?” Hitoshi asked. “Because if you are, I’ll be pretty offended since we’re friends now and all.”

Kaminari laughed. “No, I’m not going to kill you. I just- You’re not the imposter, are you? Because it would be a shame if you killed me and ruined our blossoming friendship. I can hold a grudge, you know. And I can and will seek vengeance.”

Hitoshi snorted at the blonde’s empty threat. “Of course you would. But it’s okay because you won’t have to. I’m not the imposter Kaminari.”

There was a pause in which Kaminari hummed thoughtfully before saying, “But that’s what an imposter would say!”

“That is true… But if I were an imposter I would have killed you here and vented, right? You’re making it very easy for me to get a clean kill. Really, you led me into a pretty isolated room with two vents.”

A dramatic sigh left Kaminari’s lips. “Fiiiiine. You’re right. But I’m putting a lot of trust in you, buddy!”

Hitoshi smirked at his camera when he got away with the lie. He was about to respond, when Jirou’s white colored character walked in.

“Oh,” Jirou said, startled, “Sorry to interrupt your guys’ date!” And with that, she turned around and ran off.

“Not a date!” Hitoshi called after her.

Kaminari cleared his throat awkwardly. “Uhh… I’m-I’m just gonna go now. Haha. Right—thanks for the talk, and for not killing me! Uh yeah. Bye!” his voice cracked on the last word as he ran out of navigation and down towards the shields area.

Hitoshi stayed there for a second. “Well, that was weird,” he said more to himself than to his viewers. He shook his head and laughed slightly before deciding to just move on and try to get some kills in.

Meanwhile, his chat was going crazy.

Hitoshi only briefly glanced at his chat when he noticed the sudden inflow of messages popping up. He didn’t respond to anything, but when he looked back at the game, his cheeks had turned the slightest bit pink.

As he rounded the corner and entered the electrical room, he saw that Kirishima’s red colored character was in the back left corner.

Perfect.

“Oh, hey Psych!” Kirishima said when he noticed Hitoshi standing beside him.

“Hello,” the other said before swiftly hitting the kill button, watching the body fall to the floor. “Goodbye,” he added with a smirk before popping into the vent and going to med bay.

Hitoshi chuckled as he skimmed his chat’s compliments on the smooth kill.

“Hey, I had to take the opportunity while I had it. I’m sure Kirishima won’t hold a grudge… Unlike a certain yellow haired streamer,” he said as he walked into the cafeteria.

Surprisingly, he had another chance to get another easy kill, as Uraraka was standing around doing wires.

Hitoshi’s kill cool down still had a few seconds left, so he went to the bottom of the room to wait.

When he was able to kill again, he went back up and before Uraraka could say anything, he quickly hit the kill button and ran off.

“I guess I’m feeling particularly ruthless today,” he said, laughing at his good luck.

Before he could move far, however, he was halted when Monoma’s cyan colored character showed up on the screen along with the message that a dead body had been reported.

With a quick glance over the meeting screen, Hitoshi saw that Monoma, Uraraka, and Kirishima were the only ones who had died so far, leaving seven players left.

“Alright, who the fuck killed Kiri? I just want to talk,” Kaminari’s voice came through in playful anger.

“Well, it wasn’t me,” Midoriya chimed in. “I was with Jirou almost the whole time, and she reported the body right outside of admin and near the cafeteria entrance.

“I was in storage,” Todoroki said.

“I was in reactor,” said Mina.

“Okay, well I reported the body, like Deku said,” Jirou added. “And Psychwave and Denki were having a moment in navigation, so I’m pretty sure they’re clear.”

“Woah, it was not a moment,” Kaminari exclaimed. “We were just… I was just making sure he wasn’t the imposter. Right, Psych?”

Hitoshi smiled amusedly at this and made a noise of agreement. “Right. We both verified that neither of us is the imposter.”

“Alright, so that just leaves Bakugou,” Todoroki said. “Where were you just now?”

“Admin,” Bakugou grunted.

“But… the body was outside admin…,” said Midoriya suspiciously.

“Someone must have killed when I was doing card swipe!” Bakugou argued.

This seemed like a good opportunity to avert any suspicions, so Hitoshi chimed in with, “ Or you killed outside admin and then ran inside to vent, but that’s when Jirou reported the body.”

Bakugou made a noise of frustration, but his protests fell on deaf ears as most of the others seemed to agree with Hitoshi’s statement.

“I can’t let you get away with this, Kacchan!” Kaminari exclaimed as he locked in his vote. “I need to get justice for Kiri! Monoma and Uraraka too!”

Hitoshi heard words of assent, so he decided to jump on the opportunity and vote for Bakugou as well.

When all the votes were shown, there were five for Bakugou and two people who skipped—so, much to the blonde’s frustration, he was ejected.

“Oh, you have got to be fucking kidding me,” Bakugou groaned as everyone watched his character fly through space across the screen dramatically.

“Sorry, Bakugou!” Mina offered sympathetically.

“...I hate all of you,” were Bakugou’s last words before he muted himself and the next round started.

When the remaining players spawned in the cafeteria, Hitoshi went off somewhere else with the claim that he ‘needed to do his tasks’. In reality, he wanted to wait to find someone on their own so that he could get another kill in.

As he maneuvered his character through the halls, he noticed that someone was watching the cameras on security, so he decided to take them out so they wouldn’t get in the way.

When he walked in, he instantly recognized Midoriya’s dark green colored character. Oh, poor, sweet Midoriya. Too bad he would have to kill him now.

“Oh, hey Psychwave! How’s it going?” came the cheery greeting.

“Hey, Midoriya. I was just… seeing who was here.”

There was a pause before, “Y-You didn’t come here to kill me, did you?”

Hitoshi didn’t get the chance to respond before—

“THE VENT!” Midoriya exclaimed.

Sure enough, Todoroki was popping out of the security vent and making a beeline straight towards Midoriya.

“Wait! Todoroki I won’t tell anyone, just—“

The green haired man didn’t get to finish his sentence, having been killed by Todoroki almost instantly.

“See ya,” Todoroki said to Hitoshi before turning back around and jumping back into the vent he came out of.

Hitoshi instantly burst out into laughter.

“Oh man,” he said in between laughs, “I feel bad for Deku, but that was gold. Todoroki was pretty smooth, wasn’t he?”

Hitoshi stayed there for a little longer as his laughter died down, before deciding that he should probably leave before anyone walked in and tried to pin the body on him.

He didn’t get far, as it was just his luck that he ran into Kaminari.

“Psychwave! Heyyy!” came the other’s characteristic energetic greeting.

“Hey, Kaminari,” Hitoshi responded, hoping to somehow divert the blonde from stumbling across Deku’s body in security. “What’re you up to?”

“I finished up my tasks, so I was gonna check cams to see if anything suspicious was going on. Do you wanna come with?”

Shit. He could try to convince Kaminari to go somewhere else, but that would seem suspicious. He could also just decline and say he had tasks to complete, but the blonde would probably put two and two together and figure out that Hitoshi was an imposter, even if he wasn’t the one who killed Midoriya. Ultimately, he had a better chance coming with and trying to talk his way out of an accusation.

“Sure,” he replied and followed Kaminari into the room.

A loud gasp met his ears as the blonde saw Midoriya’s body lying right by the cams.

“Psych?” he said incredulously.

“Woah, what?” Hitoshi said, trying to act surprised at the sight.

“You came down from security,” the blonde said, shocked. “Psych, I trusted you!”

“Hold up, I didn’t come from security. I was just passing by. I didn’t know that Midoriya’s body was here.”

“Mhm. Likely story. I can’t believe you would do this. After all we’ve been through! Did our bonding session in navigation mean nothing to you?”

Kaminari’s tone of voice was so hilariously serious, Hitoshi had to fight to hold back a laugh and keep up the sincere façade.

“It did mean something!” he said hurriedly. “Seriously, this was just a big coincidence.”

Silence, and then: “Ha! Your tricks won’t work on me, Mr. Psychwave! I won’t let you marinate me that easily, no siree!”

Hitoshi could tell that the blonde was going for the report button, so, with lightning fast reflexes, he hit the kill button before that happened.

“Sorry, Kaminari. Let’s still be friends, though, yeah?” he said, hopping into the vent.

Hitoshi smirked to himself at the interaction. Kaminari really was fun to mess around with, wasn’t he? His enthusiasm was a good contrast to Hitoshi’s own perpetual state of tiredness.

The purple haired man shook these thoughts from his head as quickly as they came, just as the game ended—revealing that he and Todoroki had won the game. The other must have killed someone while he was busy talking with Kaminari.

As they went back to the game lobby, the others’ voices flooded through. The most prominent one, though, was Kaminari.

“How could you?” the blonde half-shouted amidst the chatter of the others.

“I’m sorry, Kaminari. It had to be done,” Hitoshi replied with faux sympathy.

“‘Had to be done’ my ass ,” Kaminari said with a dramatic sniffle. “We’re supposed to be friends!”

“Yeah, that was cold, man,” Monoma chimed in with a fake serious tone.

“I didn’t ask you, idiot,” came Hitoshi’s reply, though without any sting to it.

There was collective laughter from the group and some random chattering as everyone waited for the next game to start.

“Hey, Psychwave?” Kaminari said as there were only a few seconds left until the next game started.

“Yeah?”

“I will never forgive you for this atrocious betrayal,” Kaminari warned ominously as the next game loaded in.

Unsurprisingly, Hitoshi was the first one to die in the new game. But hey, at least the blonde got his revenge.

The group played for a few hours, alternating between The Skeld, Mira HQ, Polus, and The Airship maps to spice things up. Hitoshi found himself actually enjoying playing with this group of weirdos (he meant that in the best way possible)—Denki especially.

He found the blonde’s energetic banter endearing, and he couldn’t help but smile at his ridiculous antics—much to his viewers’ delight. It wasn’t often that one could see Psychwave with anything more than a slight smirk on his face.

Eventually, though, everyone had tired of playing for hours, so everyone said their goodbyes and logged off the Discord.

After ending his stream, Hitoshi opted to order some Chinese takeout as he clicked onto Chargebolt’s Twitch channel, scrolling through his past streams. Since his viewers seemed to like him so much, and he seemed like a decent guy, it couldn’t hurt to watch one or two of his streams while he studied, right?

As it turned out, Hitoshi didn’t get much studying done, too engrossed in watching Kaminari’s gameplays.

The blonde was just as energetic as he was when they were playing Among Us, which wasn’t a surprise. Although he would never admit it, Hitoshi found Kaminari’s gaming mannerisms cute, subconsciously taking in the way his eyebrows would furrow in concentration as his tongue poked out slightly, or his little victory dances. Kaminari truly was the literal embodiment of sunshine.
