    There were many reasons why Clown loved his mask and one hundred percent coverage costume: Recognisability, the fear factor, the anonymity, the comforting warmth, feeling the security of no one being able to see his facial expressions and many, many more.
    The reason that made Clown probably love it more than any of the others combined, though, had to be that no one would see how fucked up he really was; why his people (were they ever really his?) abandoned him so long ago.

    My own hand went through hers, and I panicked. Despite this, I didn't move because I knew it would already happen even though I wanted to.

    Instead I stayed, still crouched down awkwardly (why can't I move?). I tried to say something, anything, to scream for Clown to help me, but all that came out was a gentle "Hello..?" (why can't I speak?).

    "Hello, young ⎐⍜⟟⎅⌰⟟⋏☌. It has been a long, long time since you've come home."
