Hal Jordan was dying long before a mission went wrong and his heart finally gave out.
He was dying when he signed the divorce papers. Dying without making it anyone else’s problem.
No one Noticed.
Not Bruce. Not Clark. Not the Justice League.And Hal was fine with that because twenty months ago he signed away the right to have anyone worry about him.
He would have kept it that way, too If he hadn’t burned himself out saving the world. If he hadn’t collapsed hard enough that everyone finally had to look.
Now Bruce and Clark are hovering like they never spent nearly two years avoiding him. Acting like this is their burden to carry, like they didn’t already decide, once, that letting him go was easier than staying.
Hal doesn’t understand it. There’s no cure. If Oa hasn’t found one, there’s no point in pretending otherwise. He’s made peace with dying.
Bruce and Clark haven’t.
They refuse to give up on him the way they gave up on the marriage. And that more than the poison in his blood or the ache in his chest is what hurts the most.

Slight AU of canon- two pivotal events are different:
1)Lily and James really are flirting in the scene where Snape is hanging upside-down.
2)Snape dies in the Shrieking Shack before he can give his memories to Harry, so Harry never walks to his death a willing sacrifice and dies trying his best to take Voldemort with him. He fails to do so. Harry did collect all the 3 Hallows and is still Master of Death, though. He and Lady Magic convince Death to send Snape back to 1976 to right what went wrong.The rest of the changes are through Snape's (and sometimes Harry's or others) actions as this story diverges very quickly from canon.

Trying to ignore the unpleasant returning tension in his chest, Light tightened his grip on Winston’s harness. He was going to meet L again, after so many years…He didn’t know what he even hoped for.
For the detective to recognize him or treat him like a complete stranger. Whatever happened, he would just have to wait and see.

He had always waited for other people – wiser people, more experienced and powerful people, to move the pieces for him and trap him in check, only for Harry himself to wiggle out at the last moment and continue the game down to the last piece. He had sat there and watched while more powerful men than him pulled the strings.
No more of that. It was time he took the reins.Or: Apparently, being the Master of Death has it perks. After dying Harry gets offered the chance to go back in time and change things by Death itself. After defeating Quirrell with the help of the greatest-pain-in-the-ass-of-all-time Merlin himself, Harry had much time to practice and make a few plans at the Dursley's. Only for him to realise, that plans are kind of overrated anyway.

I remember absolutely nothing of my life; only that my name is Mirtosiandr (Mirtos in short), I'm 10 years old (odd...), and was born in... Shiganshina???However, I couldn't care less, as I only have two goals: to survive in these streets no matter what and find the Cross entity.
