Summary:

The Warner siblings are in a bit of trouble, and Bugs decides it would be a good idea to take them in.

I just like the idea of Bugs being a parent.

Notes:

I'll be honest, not sure if I'll continue this, but if you like it, then I'll consider it. My writing style isn't the best. I may focus on other projects more than others.

Chapter Text

Bugs stood beside Daffy as they went over a script for an episode that had yet to get filmed when a few executives walked past them. It sounded as though they were arguing, but over what? He did not figure it out till they mentioned the Warner Siblings. The two men seemed exasperated and unsure of what to do about them aside from trying to make sure the water tower was secure.

He had to admit, those three could be very unruly and excitable most days, but what toon was not? That was just how toon people tended to be, sometimes growing out of it and sometimes not. Admittedly, those children were more looney than the Looney Tunes gang sometimes, and humans had a hard time keeping up with that.

He and Daffy had worked with young toons before, mentoring them where they could have, of course, but no one had worked with the Warner siblings. That did not help matters; of course, stopping the program by the time these kids came into the picture was not the best idea on the studio’s part. All toons needed mentoring, especially when calming their zany behaviors to keep from causing too much chaos.

“Looks like the kids are causing problems again.” Bugs hummed, closing the script that he and Daffy had been looking at a moment ago, earning a noise of agreement from his co-star, who looked a little concerned. It made sense, though; the duck had been on that end of a conversation dozens of times before.

It had taken a while for the studio execs over the years to get used to Daffy’s behavior and how zany he tended to be. Then, of course, it helped that Bugs had gone to bat for him repeatedly, and now people were used to the duck’s behavior. “What do you suggest, Bugs?” He asked after a moment of silence.

“Well, there is always the option of taking them under our wings. They do not have parents and need someone to look after them.” The bunny said, putting the script they had been looking over into his hammerspace. It was not odd to suggest considering they had housed Buster, Babs, and Plucky while Tiny Toons was in production. Plus, it helped show the younger toons the ropes when it came to being a cartoon character.

“Suppose so, though they are a bit crazier than we used to be,” Daffy commented. “But if anyone can handle them, I suppose it is you.”

Bugs smiled. “The confidence is appreciated, Doc.” He said and walked with him down the hall. “We should get some lunch once we settle this whole thing.”

“Sure, we have not been on a date in a while; why not?” Daffy shrugged, earning a chuckle from the rabbit.

Once they reached the meeting room, Bugs opened the door and looked in to see a few executives in the room before going inside himself. He held the door open for Daffy and then went to sit in one of the empty chairs, waiting for the conversation they currently had to fizzle out or for them to notice the toons. Luckily the latter happened, and the head looked toward them with a curious gaze. “Bugs, Daffy, to what do we owe your presence here today?” He asked, looking a little concerned.

“Please tell me this is not another concern about scripts and Daffy wanting to quit again.” The man said, and this earned a snort from the duck, about to comment. At least before Bugs put his hand up to stop him. “Not now, Daff.” He said, smiling a little before turning his attention back to the man in charge. “You see Doc. It has come to our attention that You are all going a little crazy over the fact that the Warner siblings are causing more chaos than what you can handle.” He said as he sat back in his chair, taking a bite of a carrot he had pulled out of his hammerspace.

“You see, I had this idea that maybe Daff and I could take the kids in and try and get them calmed down. If you think about it, the kids do not have any parental figures. Not to mention, I am sure Scratchandsniff would appreciate a break considering he has probably gone a little crazy himself thanks to their antics.” The rabbit said as Daffy rested his elbow on his shoulder and glanced around the room as the other spoke. This was something he knew Bugs could handle better than any other toon, in his opinion. When it came to teaching other toons and gathering others, Bugs was your toon; he was pretty much the leader of the whole Looney bunch.

After Bugs’ finished speaking, the humans around the table looked at each other, contemplating and talking over the idea that the man presented to them. It sounded like a good idea, but they were not exactly sure if what Bugs had suggested would pan out like the rabbit thought it would. If Daffy were honest, it annoyed him that these guys did not seem to have much faith in the idea of giving Bugs custody of the young toons.

The talking went on for a few more minutes before the head held up his hand for everyone to quiet down, which did not take very long before silence filled the room once again. “This seems like an interesting idea, Bugs. Considering you are the most responsible toon on this lot. I know we can trust you to take care of the warner siblings like you have any other young toon that you took under your wings over the years.” He said and crossed his arms, not done with what he was saying. “That being said, I will allow you custody of them; they are to live with you and follow the rules you set out for them, and hopefully, they will stop being a nuisance around the lot.”

At this news, Bugs smiled, finishing the carrot he had pulled out earlier. “Thanks, Doc.” He said before getting up, and Daffy followed him out the door, but not before the man cleared his throat. “Good luck, Bugs... you will need it.”

Daffy shook his head once the two toons were out of hearing range and out of the building. “They have no confidence in your ability, it seems.” Moreover, considering Bugs was practically the face of the company, it was a little concerning.

“Eh, I mean, considering no one was able to take these kids back in the 90’s it is not surprising. They at least worked well with Spielberg back in the day as well as the toons they shared the show with.” Bugs said as they made their way through the lot.

“To be perfectly frank, the man lived for their chaos, and they stirred up quite a bit. Way more than when we are young toons.” Daffy commented, knowing full well, that Steven fully supported that the Warner siblings were as chaotic as toons came. “And sure, they were drawn that way, but their creator should have taken the time to calm their behaviors down like how Blanc did with us, well, with me mostly.”

Chuckling softly, Bugs shook his head as thoughts of their years as new toons came flooding into his mind for a moment. “Hm…you were pretty zany, far too zany to deal with in the beginning.” The rabbit smirked a little before looking up at the tower they were now in front of.

“We sure they are home?” Daffy asked.

“Good question.” Bugs replied

Their thoughts were interrupted when they heard what sounded like chaos from somewhere behind them. Both toons turned to see that the Warner siblings were, in fact, not home but causing problems with what looked to be a few of the security guards.

“That answers that.” Daffy sighed.

“Hm…” Bugs hummed in response; he supposed this was to be expected; they were dealing with some crazy toons who had loads of energy after all. “We should go over there.”
