Chapter Text
Basil looked behind him, bloodshot eyes now trained on the boy in the doorway. He let out a short laugh, turning to face Sunny fully, hands gripping a pair of gardening shears close to his chest, "...You're mean, you know that?" His words were the first to pierce the darkening atmosphere. Basil felt a familiar sickness bubble up in his stomach--he hated the feeling, it wasn't like him to be this way.
The door closes behind Sunny as he steps into the room. There's a semblance of worry on his face. That, or the low light was playing tricks on Basil's eyes, "How could you be like this?" Worry turned to slight confusion on the raven-haired boy's face, making the knot in Basil's stomach twist tighter, "All of this..."
Taking one step forward, he laughed when Sunny took a step back. He knew it was twisted to enjoy the fear settling in the other's eyes but the way that his heart felt like it was in a knot trumped all else, "All of this I did for you... and what did you do?" Another slow step and then he quickly closed the distance between the both of them. Basil trapped Sunny against the door.
Tears rapidly clouded Basil's eyes as his expression twisted into pain, "The one thing I asked--no begged --you not to do!" He hated the way Sunny seemed to try and focus on anything other than him. The sudden force backwards made Basil stumble as Sunny put his arms up in defense. Basil now laughed, his own thoughts getting louder and louder. He didn't realize that the deranged laughter was coming from his own mouth.
And everything quieted. Basil lowered his head, arms moving from his chest--the gardening sheers hung loosely in his hand, "You left me, Sunny," His voice was quiet, almost inaudible, "You left me alone when I asked you not to..." He heard footsteps approach him and he saw red.
"STAY AWAY FROM ME," Basil screwed his eyes shut and thrust the sheers forward. He didn't know why he felt warmth blossoming on his hands until he opened his eyes to see Sunny withering on the ground, knees pressed against his chest. Basil dropped the shears and fell to the ground, hollowness overtaking all that he felt before. Slowly, the withering stopped and Basil blinked.
"Look at you... leaving me again," Basil lingered on Sunny's body for a second before drifting to the rope lying in the corner of his room. He got up and made his way towards it.
