Simon giggled as Wille tugged him along, the school building doors flooding with students scampering to get away from school for the summer. Simon made a surprised sound as he was quite literally swept off his feet by Wille.
“Oh my prince charming,” Simon teased, wrapping his arms around Wille's neck as he was carried to the parking lot swarmed with students. They looked around for a moment before hearing a motorcycle rev.
Simon was gingerly set down as they walked to Rosh and Ayub’s bikes, Sara sitting on Rosh’s lap and Felice sitting next to them, Rosh’s hand resting on Felice's thigh as she laughed. They all faced the other cycle as Ayub ate a hot pretzel.
“Rosh you have enough partners for the both of us,” Simon heard Ayub joke as he neared. Rosh shrugged and put a hand up as if she surrendered.
“You three are sickening,” Simon called at them as he neared.
“Look who talking!” Sara said as Wille snaked their hand around Simon's waist.
Simon glanced up at Wille with an incredulous look as the prince nodded, “That’s bad timing huh?”
“Yes, pretty boy. Very bad timing.” Simon retorted with a small snort as the six launched into a conversation until a black car, driven by Malin pulled up.
“Ok so, beach now?” Ayub asked as he locked the pretzel salt off his fingers.
“Beach now! My dad’s timeshare,” Felice explained clicking on her phone as the link to the timeshare was sent to all their phones.
“See you guys in 47 minutes then,” Wille said opening the door for Simon as the smaller boy crawled in. “You guys sure you don’t want rides?” Wille asked as Felice shook her head, putting a helmet on and wrapping her arms around Rosh’s waist. Sara wrapped her arms around Rosh’s neck and Rosh looked like she won in life.
Simon grinned over as Wille entered the dark car that jolted into motion. Simon smiled happily, reaching over and putting his hand on Wille's thigh, “Now, what can we do in 47 minutes to pass the time?”
Wille smiled, leaning over and pulling Simon closer by the torso, “I have a few ideas.” They said pushing his forehead onto Simon's as they both giggled lightly.
The pair arrived at the house about an hour later, having to take a small pit stop for a bathroom break (and changing into bathing suits). It was a 3 bedroom Tudor-style house that had two floors, a front porch, and a back. Felice mentioned something about a heated pool on the back porch at one point but no one believed her. They arrived to find two bikes already parked in the driveway, Malin pulling in behind them. She informed them she wouldn’t stay here, but at the hotel down the street with her wife since this was a part of a gated and secured community.
Wille opened the gate to the backyard, Simon following as laughing sounded from just around the corner of the house. He stepped onto the sand before realizing the backyard was a small piece of the beach, a fence going from each end of the property to the rocks peeking out of the waves.
“Guys! Up here!” Felice waved from the porch that stepped out directly onto the beach. There was a small bonfire where Rosh and Sara sat dripping. There was a blue light shining from the pool on the porch as Ayub sat in it, probably stoned. Felice seemed to just changed into a red and white striped bathing suit, looking as if it was right out of a vogue magazine.
Wille and Simon nodded, dropping their bags of clothing on some outdoor couches as Simon looked around astonished.
“I know right? So cool.” Ayub asked from the steaming pool as Simon nodded.
“It’s not much, but we came here every summer when I was a kid,” Felice said as if she was admitting something, walking to join her girlfriends at the bonfire.
“Not much? This place is outrageous, Felice.” Simon laughed as he pulled his shirt off, walking to the waves. “I’m gonna go in,”
“Wait for me!” Wille said tearing their shirt off, speed walking to catch up with Simon.
At first, Wille had been self-conscious about the scars on his wrists, wearing long sleeves far into the spring and summer months. It was only recently they would allow the white thin lines that paralleled his veins to be exposed around their friends. Whenever he had them exposed around Simon, he always made a point to kiss them. “Your scars are almost as beautiful as you,” He’d murmured against the skin as they pressed together in the warmth of Wille's bed.
“The water is cold today,” Simon said as he wadded into the water, earning a poke and a giggle from Wille.
He was so distracted by his boyfriend in the setting sunlight that he didn’t realize where he was going, dropping down a good foot as the sand curved downward. He made a shocked mangled noise, reaching out to grab the closest thing to him: Wille. Water splashed as they fell into the waves together, knotted together by their hands and legs.
Warmth quickly turned to chills as Simon stood up again, the water reaching the top of his torso. He laughed, covering his mouth with his hand as Wille rose from the water like the loc ness monster, hair fanning over his forehead. Wille jumped at Simon, pushing him under the water and hugging his chest tightly as Simon wrestled them to the top.
“You’re a monster,” Simon said as they both reached the top, bobbing up and down in the shimmering waves. Simon's arms were rested around Wille's neck, and their arms were around his upper chest.
“Yeah but I’m a cute monster,” they grinned as Simon rolled his eyes, wrapping his legs around Wille's waist and letting himself be held like a koala.
“We’re making s’mores!” Sara yelled at them from the shore, bouncing up and down on her heels. She was in a turquoise two-piece bathing suit with an apron backing and little white stars.
Wille picked up Simon's full weight, carrying him to the bonfire and sitting down on a towel. Simon just laughed like a little kid, maneuvering once they were sat down so his back was pressed against Wille's chest.
“Here, take these,” Felice said passing them two sticks with marshmallows already pierced through. Simon accepted them, passing one to Wille behind him and sticking his marshmallow directly into the fire.
Obviously, it went up in flames. Wille leaned away a bit as Simon blew the fire off, glancing back at Wille who had a horrified look on his face, “you’re a monster,” he said lightly twirling their marshmallow over the fire as it toasted.
“Well this makes sure it’s tasty,” Simon retorted, sandwiching it between a graham cracker and a piece of chocolate. He took a bite, getting sticky gooeyness all over his face. Wille rolled his eyes, thumbing some of it away and licking their finger.
“Yall are cheesy as hell,” Ayub said staring at the couple as Simon rolled his eyes.
“You see Rosh right now- right?” Simon said pointing his stick at Sara on one side and Felice on the other, both cuddling into Rosh. Ayub just shrugged, taking a bite out of his s’more.
“We’re gonna stay for a bit longer,” Wille informed Rosh as she nodded, waving goodbye to the couple as she and Sara retreated inside the house as the last people to leave. The sun had just set, and the fire was reduced to small embers and a few sparks.
Wille and Simon laid on a towel, Simon's head resting on their outstretched arm. His hand clutched Wille's other hand tightly as they stared at the stars. Simon would’ve been cold if not for the inferno that was Wille's body pressed against his.
They were talking quietly about everything and nothing, listening to the waves crashing against the shore. Wille's heartbeat thumped in Simon's ear with a steady relief. He’s ok, he’s here. Nothings going to take them away from you again.
“You were the last thing I thought about before I passed out- after yaknow,” Wille whispered quietly, his chin brushing Simon's curls.
“Really?” Simon asked tilting his head up. He’d always wondered what Wille was thinking then, but didn’t bring it up.
“Yeah. I was so caught up in myself, and then I kinda just had this realization about you. Nothing specific just like, you. Like you’re real, and here, and I didn’t want to lose you.” Wille said as his heartbeat quickened slightly.
“I didn’t want to lose you either. That um- the day in the hospital, I was completely out of it. You looked so uncomfortable and it just, hurt physically to see you like that? And I just- I don’t want anything like that to happen to you again.” Simon admitted, squeezing Wilhelm’s hand.
“I won’t,” They said bending their arm to run their hands through Simon's hair. “Never again,” he whispered, kissing Simon's forehead.
