Chapter 1: Scrying and Bonding

Chapter Text

Aurora gasped, jumping awake. She had a bad feeling most of the night and had ignored it, assuming it was just her anxiety acting up. She could still feel the flames as though they were licking at her own skin, could feel the fear and sadness that was coming from her soulmate. She quickly climbed out of her bed, darting into her living room to grab a map. As she sat down at the coffee table to start scrying, she felt a hand drop onto her shoulder. She jumped and looked up to find her roommate standing over her, yawning.

“Hey, what’s going on?” Sylvie signed.

“Felt something. I’ve had a bad feeling all night and I had a terrible dream. I’m going to try and scry for my soulmate, I’m pretty sure it has something to do with them,” She signed back, holding her crystal tightly in her free hand.

“Do you need help?”

“No, go back to bed. I’m sorry for waking you.”

Sylvie squeezed her shoulder and wandered back down the hall to her room. Aurora turned her attention back to her map and took a deep breath. Scrying was one of the first skills she had learned, so she was really good at it at this point, but she had a hard time concentrating.

“Alright brain, we are trying to find my soulmate, so you are going to focus and help,” She said to herself as she lifted the crystal. It didn’t take long for the crystal to settle, laying on top of a tiny city on the map. She sighed and went to get a map of California. After the crystal landed on another small city, she sighed and realized that she would have to pull up the map on the computer and let her magic guide her closer.

“Beacon Hills?” She said to herself.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Aurora stepped foot within the city limits of Beacon Hills, she immediately felt a sense of home. She knew she was in the right place, her soulmate bond was glowing and singing the closer she got. With no idea where to start looking, she let the bond pull her to where she needed to go. When she finally became completely conscious of where she was, she found herself in a hospital room, her magic settling over the room so no one would find her there. In the bed laid a partially burned figure. When she approached, she could feel the bond singing even louder. With a hesitant hand, she reached down and took a hold of the man’s hand. She gasped as she felt the bond settle in place, then let out a sob when she felt his emotions start flowing out of him and into her.

“Oh, you poor man. Your wolf has locked you in your mind to protect you, but it’s made it worse,” She whispered, reaching up to cup the side of his face that wasn’t burned.

Before she could get a tight reign on her magic, it pulled her into his mind. She gasped as her vision was filled with smoke and flames. She could sense that there were people around her, but she was never more thankful for the fact that she couldn’t hear because she knew that they were dying. She made her way through the memory, knowing that she couldn’t be hurt unless someone else invaded the nightmare. She found her soulmate pressed against a wall, just under a window.

“You...you’re not burning,” He said, his words filtering through her head as their bond helped them communicate.

“That’s because this is a memory. You are trapped here, your wolf was trying to protect you from your healing, but it trapped you here. Would you like for me to help you get out and start healing properly?”

He jumped when he heard her voice in his head.

“Who are you?” He asked.

“When you wake up, I will answer every question that you have. For now, I need to go and find your wolf, so he will release you from this nightmare.”

“How am I supposed to know you are real?” He asked.

She smiled and reached over to cup his cheek.

“You just have to open your eyes. Seek out your soulmate bond and you will find me.”

She turned and was immediately taken to a dark room. She let her magic spark, casting light over the dark room. She tried not to jump when a black wolf stepped into the light, growling at her.

“You know who I am,” She said, tugging at the strands of the bond that had formed. The wolf huffed and looked at her. He stalked closer, his ice-blue eyes looking at her. She stood her ground, waiting to see what the wolf was going to do. She was not prepared for him to step closer and press his snout against her stomach.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Peter gasped and opened his eyes. The first thing he saw was the girl from his nightmare, sitting in the chair next to the bed.

“What…”

She shook her head and frantically wrote on the board that was in her lap.

“My name is Aurora Luna. I am your soulmate and a witch. I am also deaf. I was brought here by our bond, to help you. I’m sorry that our bond snapped into place while you were unconscious, but your wolf has a mind of his own.”

Peter looked from the board to her face.

“You’re my...I don’t…”

She shook her head, reaching for his hand. He sighed as he felt her connection to him lit up, brighter than any Pack bond that he had ever had.

“Don’t you dare say that you don’t deserve a soulmate. Our bond pulled me here because it didn’t want you to suffer alone. Let me help you, please,” She whispered into his mind, the easiest way to talk for them.

“You don’t even know who I am,” He said softly in reply, squeezing her hand.

She smiled.

“Then you can introduce yourself and we will go from there.”

“Hello, my name is Peter Hale. It is a pleasure to meet you, Aurora, and I look forward to getting to know you.”
